She was my first c6, and ive been using her in my nahida hyperbloom team since, and sometimes in my national, lemme say something, at least at c6 she generates SO MUCH ENERGY, she makes all my characters, cryo or not, be burst ready off cooldown almost everytime, and the shielding is crazyyy

Glad to see some love for Layla, I started Genshin in 3.1 and pulled her on the Yae banner shortly after. She's been a great addition to my account and it's crazy to see how underrated she is. So many older players say "why use Layla, just use Zhongli instead," but Zhongli's rerun in 4.0 will be the first time he's even rerun since I've started playing and I've already been 36 starring abyss for a few months. Layla is more than good enough to fulfill my shielder needs and I think I'm just gonna skip Zhongli because he seems like overkill.

reading your comment i feel like you're speaking exactly of my genshin journey. however i didn't skip zhongli for one reason. sometimes i want both teams to have a shielder in abyss. having zhongli is more optimal for some teams only because zhongli shield last 20 seconds as opposed to 12 of layla. i have a really perfect synergy with layla on my main ayato hyperbloom team. (ayato my first limited 5 star, keqing being first 5 star in standard) both have short rotations. zhongli will fix the issue where I've always had troubles with yoimiya rotation being slightly longer than layla shield. i suck at dodging in the game cuz of how reliant on layla I've always been especially on ayato team she never let me down. lmao sometimes tbh layla is more optimal than zhongli. eula benefits from the cryo resonance and her shield cast animation is much shorter for quicker swap on some teams

I use Layla in my Eula team. She is using 4 pc Noblesse, I opt in using 4 pc Tenacity on Kuki since both of them can maintain the artifact sets effects. Layla has a really low burst cost and Kuki's skill procs superconduct every time and honestly I love this team 😁

For me, the stars basically aligned for me to build Layla. I had gotten the Key instead of PJC in 3.1, and I was at a loss over what to do with it. In comes Layla, an HP-scaling sword user. I’ve been using her ever since whenever I want to run mono-Cryo, and it was thanks to her that I was able to clear SA for the first time.

About the hyperfridge team, I actually recommend this team w Hydro traveler if u need to use him for the new mechanics. He doesn't get a shield while holding E until C4, so he can easily get interrupted without some resistance. Probably the best way to cope w him lol

Did you ever thought that Ganyu ult should have actually been on a defensive unit instead so you can actually have a reaction team with that ult while having the benefit of a shield with a DPS that belongs to that reaction? Here you go...

She was the first character I pulled. I ran all the way to sumeru after getting to liyue so I could level her. She helped carry me through the game. Lisa spamming skills helped make me stars for the shield, so that was cool. Once I hit AR 45, I used her as a deepwood holder for my alhaitham. She was the first character I got to lvl 90 and I don't regret it. She really did help carry me through the early and mid game. Nice for co-op with the C1, too.

nitpick: her *base hp* goes up by 12% if you level her to 90 in addition to the change to her ascension multiplier for hp%, and it lets you further improve her shield talent level. there's a lot more shield strength behind her last ascension than indicated here. also for anyone reading, a quick a tip for infusing wanderer with cryo while using her: you should be using her skill right before his anyway, or at least shortly before, so just get close to an enemy that doesn't have a pyro aura before you use both characters' skills and he'll get the +20% crit rate from his ascension passive

Thanks for making 4-star character discussion videos. They don't get enough love IMHO. If you would be interested in making a video on it, I would also love to know your opinion on whether a 4-star being on Paimon Shop rotation affects their "pull value". For example, in time I could guarantee myself C6 Fischl and C6 Beidou which is a powerful shell. Same for C6 Xiangling and C5 Bennet. However I could be stuck on a C0 Kuki forever.

Praise the archons that Layla was given for free this event. My Wanderer would be lost without her, I recently play again with an alt acc and got an early 5 star Wanderer, she's a life saver for him😂. Fun fact, I use Skyrider sword on her, the 3 star with ER and atk and movement speed buff because I don't have fav or sac sword, and I do need her burst up quickly to swirl cryo more efficiently

so layla was totally key to clearing some of the harder abyss 12 floors in past abyss rotations. i even swapped out one of either xingqiu or yelan out, and the hyperbloom performance was about the same. i'd be interested to see numbers on it cause any character that can get one of those two super hydro appliers off of the same team but still produce the same results/damage is godly. i did notice in my experimenting that raiden doesn't work as well out side of double hydro in a hyperbloom team with layla, where as kuki or fischl preforms about the same with layla. could be because of the extra electro stealing freeze and bloom reactions with superconduct and aggravate, but idk.

So something that I'm a tad confused about with all of the Layla vs Zhongli comparisons. Doesn't Kirara have the strongest shield in the game if you shield stack it? Or is there another mechanic that I'm unfamiliar with that makes Kirara's shield worse?

As much as I know and have researched about Layla, Kirara's stacked shield is very negligibly better than Layla, both shields being significantly behind Zhongli's. Her shield gets tankier in three ways- Constellations, A1 passive and ToTM set.

Before watching the vid: The only difference between layla and zhongli is zhongli having a bigger shield and some shred. But I've found that in my playtime, Layla's shield was more than enough and it's pretty strong. Overall a budget Zhongli. So if you don't have zhongli/don't want zhongli/want a shielder for your 2nd abyss team she is amazing and can definetly replace zhongli. With a favonius sword in her hands, she batteries your team energy very quickly too. I use Wanderer/Faruzan/Layla/Bennet or Yanfei/xingqui/layla/bennet. both pretty fun comps.

Layla is solid. My only issue with her is that I only have c0 and meanwhile have had Zhongli and DIANO (c6) built since 1.1 and 1.2 respectively. I also have c6 Yanfei, Thoma, Noelle, Beidou. My Ayaka, Ganyu and Eula mostly stay benched. I just don't have any reason to really build Layla right now. I may do so once I've gotten a few more of her constellations. Layla is probably the second best c0 4* we have gotten since the start of Sumeru but you only need so many defensive options on an account. If you are newer and get her she is certainly worth building.

Have built her and fully agree even with Freeze. I think she a better fit than Diona. Freeze doesn't really need the extra energy because your running minimum two cryo it. I'm happy you mentioned Wanderer I think she might be the best shielder for him. I've ran her in amono cryo Ganyu team and she's very affective. Ganyu really likes the shield and Layla adds a non negligible ammount of damage

I actually kicked zhongli out of my XQ&yelan yoimiya team in favour of layla-rather than the other way around! She needs so little fieldtime compared to him and doesnt summon a stupid pillar. It's made the team feel much better to play. I also use her in mono cryo. I gave her nilou's key in the former and harbinger in the latter and alongside Nahida she's become my most used Sumeru unit by a huge margin. I think one of the reasons people dismissed her is her lack of synergy with dendro, which made her release early in sumeru feel off.

I think there quite a few misconceptions about her C4... yes, it does buff a normal/charged attack. Emphasis in "a". She literally only buffs the singular next normal or charged attack after her shield starts shooting stars which is giga shit. I love Layla and I do play her with Ganyu along with Venti and Kokomi, I have her built for full damage and she does do pretty decent damag but there's no shame in admitting that she's a very underwhelming character overall and really besides her shield she doesn't do much else.

They kinda both have their place. It’s really personal preference. If you find yourself dying in the abyss, Layla is perfect. If you’re a god gamer at dodging, rosaria is a net team damage increase

As someone who refuses to use 5-star characters and National Team, because they're too strong, I would rather use Diona over Layla just because Diona can heal as well as shield. This versatility, along with just enough cryo support, allows me to slot in other damage dealers without worrying about healing; I typically don't use food items for healing, mostly for immersion purposes. Magic and fantasy elements aside, who actually eats while in battle? That just sounds like a dumb idea.

Layla is definitely my Zhongli replacement since I still don't have him. That said I haven't been using her that much lately since I've been doing more healer teams than shielder teams. I would say at c6 Diona is the better unit (still c3 for me), especially in dendro teams. Diona's c6 is basically Kazuha's c2 which is pretty crazy. That said Layla becomes something of a monster in mono-cryo at c6 so that's something. In total I think Diona is the stronger defensive unit with her healing ultimate but Layla is more flexible for different types of rotations (and has 100% uptime on shield). Both are great defensive units for co-op when you have c1 Layla or c2 Diona!

@@JelloImpact She's not better than c2 Kazuha obviously since he's got so many other buffs and personal damage, but she does bring something at c6 which Layla doesn't which is a huge EM steroid. Obviously you can't run her in Nilou teams or prob even quickbloom but many other archetypes she would fit well into I feel. I don't have her c6 myself tho, so I don't know if it's that it only grants EM to the on-field character, in which case it makes it more restrictive.

I wanted to get Layla when she came out but couldn't be cause I had 60 pity and didn't want the 5 star on her banner (don't remember who it was tbh), I got her like a month later on standard and she hasn't left my team since. I use her on my Hu tao, Yoimiya and hyperbloom(fridgebloom teams) and even though I oculd switch her out for DPS increase she just makes everything so much more comfortable so I'd never do that.

Honestly it's only necessary to bring extra damage on a hyperbloom team on floor 12 of abyss, anywhere else she's a great 4th slot in my opinion. Same goes for freeze teams where if you're doing floor 12 you want Rosaria, otherwise Layla or Diona are just fine.

I would finish up your other team before going for a 5* weapon. With Yelan and kokomi there are a lot of options of things to go for. Nahida is a great choice, allows you to do the maxed hyperbloom. Could do kokomi/Yelan/nahida/kuki or raiden for your hyperbloom team. But you can also do double hydro something else.

It should work pretty well because Layla’s 12 second shield is enough to keep Lyney alive while you are doing all the charged shot stuff with him. It may even be a bit better damage than Zhongli if you can build Layla for melt damage with something like a Lion’s Roar sword (although in abyss the shield on a damage build character will break after one whack from a boss).

I build layla for hutao, at first i excited because i think layla will good with hutao can melt, second people tell me zhongli the best cause i dont have one, and zhongli will rerun next month, at last i will skip zhongli and stay with my awesome layla because my hutao can forward melt the enemy with hutao vaporize team

if you own no Zhongli, no Diona, no Xinyan, no Noelle, no Thoma..sure, shes one of the best Shilder Characters, but thats sadly already everythign at which shes good at.. the rest of this character is garbage... her skills are super weak, her burst is laughable, her constellations are neccessary to make her first decent to use and have lesser energy problems so that you have a bit more versatility with the weapon, unless you want to have her not using Favonius always for even more faster energy gain. Her DPS Team Buff that comes with her HP Scaling isn#t that huge of a deal, cause 5% of her Max HP is laughable low. if you have with her say 40k HP, that means the teams deals just ridiculous 2000 DMG more per hit for the limited time the effect lasts... there exist characters that buff DPS alot better, than her, like Bennet naturally, Sarah, even C6 Amber buffs better DPS, than this likely. Would this be rather 15% of her Max HP, then this would be really good, dealing unconditionally 6000 more DMg per hit would have been, what it should have been for that constellations, to really feel like a significant difference over not havign the constellations Layla is a character, that has alot of unused potential for character Progression, and shoudl have been imo rather a 5s Character instead of 4s with her split personality, it would have been awesoem to make the split personality part of her gameplay, turning her into a much more perferful transformer character that plays completely differently when using her burst, where her real confident self is there...fighting like a supr skillful swordfighter with dual swords (Sun and Moon Slashers) while her sleepy personality is all about self defense and Stars... that make her sleepy

Being able to shield in co-op with her c1 is so nice too? I often walk new players through world/weekly bosses and it's nice to have her giving them a shield and letting them drop the damage comfortably

@@bjornnilsson2941 no, the domain with all the cryo slimes and abyss mages. Since Layla’s shield absorbs 250% more cryo dmg, it’s super good against all the falling icicle interruptions and cryo attacks

I use Layla in weekly bosses on co-op with friends because while they have c2 Zhongli, you can only have one of him, so mine is built with Fav. sword equipped with half Vourukasha’s Glow and half Blizzard Strayer. I literally struggled to get her on her debut, but thankfully she came home when she was on rate up-I wish to c6 her one day. 😊

Great Video, as always. It's worth noting that Layla not only has one of the strongest shields in the game, but also the comfort, of her shield having the same cooldown as its duration. In addition, she can proc the tenacity buff much more comfortably than Zhongli, who relies on opponents standing in his pillar radius.

Yeah. I use her in my double hydro Hu Tao team because then I don't have to bother with a pillar that's either in the way or too far away. You also get some freezes in which turns into melts.

@@Runegrem don't know about homa but i with db r5 when low hp do 60k per CA, if i put bennett in i am able to do 80k-90k while not worrying about dying from some random bullsh**. I am also able to go vv hu tao with bennett , able to go upto 130k-144k per CA

I'm glad i got both Layla and Kirara , their shielding is really nice (i know they are not zhongli level of shielding, but still) , they made playing the game much more comfortable for me as I don't have to spam dodge every sec

I am quite annoyed that I finally built Diona just before getting Layla, because for my play style Layla seems to fit much better. Admittedly it will be a long way to get her constellations, a growing problem with all 4 stars as the game adds more characters over time

No joke, as a new player this patch Layla has been a lifesaver for me and hasn't left my team since i obtained her.
