Don’t forget about the Fell Beast GWP. IMO the free GWP’s make the large prices slightly more tolerable. When I got Avengers Tower I got three gifts with purchase and it really felt like I was getting my $500’s worth. Maybe the next set they can do the Shire

Hello friends. I am hoping with our added voices.we can make change. the Felbeast immediately sold out. they didn't even have that many to begin with , I had to wait till the 4th to purchase since I am not able to afford lego insiders, and the felbeast was unavlaible for me . Now it's worth 150 and that was the main reason why I was getting the tower. Now I am going to wait and see if lego will build some more GWP felbeasts since I won't buy it until they make more , they should have simply worded it like this " lego GWP for insiders only" THEN I WOULD HAVE MAYBE CONSIDERED BEING AN INSIDER... but this is just shameful... now for both it will be 650$ USD...... what the F lego...

awesome, saurons short legs are ok, gollums new print is also ok. but what is not ok is frodo and sams clothing is normal and decent, exactly the same print as the rivendell versions. should be dirty worn clothes printed

bought barad dur day 1. i’m just getting back into legos, loved them as a kid but want to start collecting some cool big sets to display in a separate room. i recently found the tower of orthanc i threw in storage back when i first got it as a gift from my mother. can’t wait to have the two towers on display together!

I think I'm going to wait for a sale for this one. I love it, but it doesnt have the same appeal as Rivendell. If we continue to get yearly LOTR sets, I have a strong feeling that next year we will see Bag End, in which case I WILL be picking that one up. Bag End is my favourite location

When talking about „exclusive“ minifigures I find it a bit tricky to count their temporary exclusivity as a purchasing argument. As long as LEGO doesn’t advertise them explicitly as exclusive to the set, they could likely be re-released anytime in a smaller set or a book/magazine. Captain Rex should serve as a negative examples here that proves my point

Ha! I’m nerding out big time here. That’s the official LOTR number for rings given to 3 Elves, 7 Dwarves, 9 Men, and the 1 Dark Lord. It’s your fantasy version of 1138. I can’t wait to start working on this set. It will fit better in my room than Rivendell. I can put it on a small end table in the corner. I don't have the shelf space for Rivendell. Price isn't a big deal for me. I've spent more on other collectibles. It's 5471 pieces. That seems like a good amount. I always wondered how Lego works out their prices. I'm guessing it by pieces for each set. Would that make $100.00 for 1000 lego pices? I'm sure custom parts come into play. Any of you guys know?

Vaguely, yeah. usually it’s about 10 cents US per piece but it does depend on how many “big” pieces it uses or desirable minifigures. The interest in the set matters as well, as more “desireable” sets like Star Wars UCS sets can have higher prices because they will still sell. Compare that to Ninjago which is nowhere as popular as it used to be and has incredibly high price per piece values. The last main factor is branding, as Lego owes royalties to the owners of any IPs featured in their products, like Marvel or Star Wars. The sets have higher prices due to Lego still needing to make the same profits after royalties are given. Hope this helps!

I would have loved a set more like Orthanc. That one has a smaller footprint, but is still imposing. It was the most expensive set I had ever bought at the time, but was still a significantly lower price point (even accounting for inflation). Still, I am going to buy this, because I am in too deep on LOTR and have zero common sense.

The fact we are finally getting Sauron as a Lego Minifigure is insane, never in a million years did any of us think we'd get Barad-Dur, I love The Interior my favorite rooms are Sauron's Throne Room and The Canteen here's the characters I think personally they should have included in this set, they should have gone balls out: 1. Islidur (Aragon's Ancestor who didn't Destroy the Ring) 2. Elendil (Islidur's Father who was The Second Age Gondor King) 3. Elrond (Second Age) 4. Gil Galad (The Last King of The High Great Elves) 5. A Couple of Second Age Gondorian Soldiers (Last Alliance) (x2) 6. A Couple of Second Age Elven Soldiers (Last Alliance) (x3) 7. A Couple of Easterlings (x4) If you're wondering Why I've put Characters from The Opening Montage Second Age in this set despite the fact it's in the Third Age Well: What if During the Final Battle We could reminisce about the Last Alliance Battle in the Second Age and how Islidur destroyed Sauron but it went wrong when he refused to Destroy The Ring, this would be a history reminder and it would make them realize that Sauron needs to be defeated this time

Totally agree. Set is awesome, price adequate but most importantly, i totally miss smaller and larger sets. Some big theme comeback. We just get those total huge masterpieces sets and nothing else. I want to buy whole collection of LOTR LEGO sets triple time, give us this finally !!! I dont get why they make some weird stuff like dreamz or other themes which are total nonsense and cant make more LOTR masterpieces which will go out like hot buns. In my personal opinion, both Rivendell and Barad-dur are released with the right details. LOTR fans are majority adults now since the last LOTR trilogy was in 2003. I don't think young kids below 12 yo will be attracted to LOTR sets even if cheaper options are available (unless LOTR releases a kid-friendly animated series that do well). Tho not everyone can afford the hefty price tag of such a detailed set. Hence, I do agree that there should be battle packs to complement these sets so that LOTR fans have the opportunity to build the battle scenes. Perhaps, the character minifigures can be made available in Advent Calenders and Lego magazines so that LOTR fans can purchase these minifigures at a lower budget. A LOTR theme minifigure set or anniversary set (like the Star Wars theme) is also welcomed ☺

Paper bags for a company entirely based on a plastic product is so funny to me. They’re making zero difference with this move and I appreciated the transparent plastic bags.
