As the game progressed we have gotten more ways to earn XP... so reaching higher levels isn't as much of a stretch as it used to be. Niantic can just balance the goals with the point bonuses

My thought was that level 50 was 30 mil and that should be the cap per level going forward. For people that don't hsve the xp for it 300 million seems like a fair amount between 50-60. Otherwise i think a lot of players would give up

Getting to lvl 45. This event has been crazy with XP for me. Thought I was able to complete the missions before this but i'm way ahead of schedule for this one. I only have to complete the defeat 50 bosses, which currently sits at 26. So still a long way to go. The purifying was a lot easier when you prepare for it - i had a lot of magikarp, starly, rattata and other 1000 stardust purifying pokemon. That was an easy and cheap one for me. I'm doing it the traditional way, (not buying any radars) - hopefully a rocket event pops up soon.

I hit 50 in ALMOST the shortest time I could, after having hit 40 within the first year of the game. I got stuck on the “max 3 Pokémon” task for a bit because XL candies were new and I could only max two. Your tip for trading after having maxed it and then topping it off helped me get the third. So, three or four days behind the fastest (aside from Aussies, who could side-step time locked tasks due to error).

I doubt lvl 60 will ever happen. LVL 50 pokemons with every powerup being just 0.5 lvls matches lvl100 you can get in the main games, but that's not the main reason. The main reason is that the game is losing its playerbase and I don't think that there will be enough players in three or fours years to justify pushing lvl 60 on them. The amount of xp would be ridiculous. What I would prefer, honestly, is leaving it at lvl 50 but every lets say 100 mil xp you would get a special medal or a badge that would be visible next to your level and others can see it. That would be for hardcore players. You would see someone with a badge and say "damn, he's got xp that would make for lvl 50 two times!". Every badge would be cooler than the previous one, or you would have just one badge next to your lvl 50 that would be evolving (you know just like player borders evolve in some game in terms of design) with each 100 mil xp for example. Like...I really hate this idea of lvl 60. 50 is a nice number :D leave it at that. Casual players will have a realistic (kinda) goal to work towards and hardcore players will have something to grind beyond lvl 50.

I think before than we’ll get a lot of events giving us mass amounts of experience and stardust to prep accounts who couldn’t take advantage of the remote raid pass meta so I’m not to worried for low level players. I think a better system would be just a prestige mode. Reset your level to 1 but keep everything, get a stamp or medal that you achieved it, and you permanently gain a bonus to XP or Stardust gains (Your choice) in small percentages of course.

With all due respect, level 50 is unobtainable to a casual player as well, I know plenty of casuals who aren't at level 40 yet, I've played every day since the first day and I'm just hitting level 47, level 60 wouldn't be just for dedicated players, as I would consider myself a dedicated player, and I'm not even level 50 yet!

As a casual player for 1-2 hours a day, I'm at level 49 and getting close to 50. I think they're going to raise it to level 60 next year for the anniversary. and divided the tasks into professional players and normal players with a difference in rewards and tasks and penalties for undone tasks in a certain time this level of difficulty that we choose. XP for each successive level should be a constant 25M XP, but they are counted separately from the total.

I would really like them to make the level up challenges more difficult, and to make the challenges reward you so the amount of xp you need to level up, or at least half. like you get a special research that grants you when it’s complete about half of the xp you need to level up one level, and the missions take a while but still achievable.

We have started and played around the same time.. you have much more xp than I do. But than again you've legendary raided over 11 thousand while i just broke 1k. Huge difference from FTP trainers. You also hatched 8x the eggs I have. 👏 👏

You actually only need to reach level 40 in order to participate in everything pogo has to offer, level 41to 50 is simply gravy on top, you don't need to do it, for now.

XL candy is offered at lvl 31 now. So most levels past lvl 31 are kind of just prestige as well. Though, u can’t nominate pokestops until lvl 40 (I believe) and can’t create routes until lvl 48. So, there r small unlocks later. But lvl 31 is all most people need to get to.

They will just increase the excellent throw XP or raid XP or something to balance it out if they raise the exp required to level. I like your idea though of not making it XP based beyond level 50 and just challenge based, with hard challenges and good rewards for people that manage to get up there, that means you're a hardcore player and it would make some sense for Niantic to reward you for all the time and money you put into the game.

i hit level 40 on december 21st of 2016 and I hit level 50 on February 18th 2021. grinding for exp is easy and mundane to the point that it's boring, i'm currently at 390 mil and hoping level 60 comes ASAP!! i need new things to grind, these special/timed researches only hold so much time for me lol. i got the 2nd master ball in 1 week of release ffs, it's not a challenge for some like the big youtubers or myself. my group of 6 friends that we all play together we're all 50 with over 300mil exp, we just need more to do! and 4 of us 7 have a wife and kids as well with 50+hour weekly jobs. we're hoping level 60 comes this year!!

1 billion xp is extreme. If that happened rn, I’d be sitting slap bang in the middle of level 54. It’s daunting and overwhelming if N did go with that amount of xp. In fact, that might stop me playing altogether. That’s way too much.

They should sliding scale points and dust the higher the level more points and dust. Like 45 get 250 per catch and dust 50 gets 500 for both for example. Also making xl candy only 10 insted of 100 to make it easier for lower levels to get maxed prepped by 50

I agree with what Billy said about a “challenge approach”, it will be fun, lengthy, and challenging. Plus, XP won’t be a thing or in as important when going this approach. XP will always run in the background, as the game is design to.

They're giving HELLA HELLA exp gains for everything coming up. Lvl cap increase looks imminent. They would HAVE to add a 3500 cup, and all the things that would come with it - including and excluding megas, "limited" versions, etc. I feel like they should start having 2000cp and 3000cp cups, off the half-k norm. Definitely would make everything more interesting

I am predicting that we will need "Double" or "Triple" Platinum at least badges (as you said Diamond); something to do with Routes - one and multiple Gold routes - as levels progress (and Niantic NEEDS to fix them); other challenges like "Make a 50% Zygarde", "Make x number of L3 Megas" or "Make 1 L3 Mega for each of the Megable Mons"; and something that is gym based since there were no gym based challenges for L41-50. No, raids don't count. I mean like defend gyms for x hours. Attack gyms x number of times. Have a gym that has been held for x time overall. Have a (multiple) Platinum Gyms - obviously the mechanic has to be brought to the game, but since we have Platinum Medals, we are overdue for Platinum Gyms. Some more skill based, some more grind based.

I'm still stuck on getting 50 lucky trades to get to level 49. I've been trying to do it legitimately instead of making a second account to trade with every night or whatever, but it has been a slog. I've been on it for like 8 months and I only have 18 lucky trades so far, but I have enough xp to go to level 50 once I finish the tasks for level 49. Maybe I just need to bite the bullet and cheese it.

I don‘t think level cap beyond level50 will be a thing any time soon nor should it. Consider that if they do this, then Pokemon levels will increase as well. Looking at the XL candy system, I cannot think of a way that is manageable using the XL candy we are used to. I mean, the amount of XL candy you need to level up already skyrockets for the last few levels, in other words the scale was obviously created for just those 20 increments. It follows that they would need to implement a new type of candy for levels 50.5 to 60, let‘s call that „XXL“ candy. I feel like this is what they will go for, but I don‘t exactly look forward to that.

If they made friend XP something you had to open like a gift, and you could not accept a gift from a friend or send them a gift or gain any hearts with that friend, until both of you have opened the "XP Gift" this will allow people to stock up xp bonus until they want to pop an egg.

If they go based off the game series with leveling a Pokémon, then what would level 100 look like? It just seems like 60 wouldn't be the ultimate level cap. If they do decide to go up to 100, they would have to make the objectives more digestible for the majority of players.

If they increase cap to 60, it should just exclusively be achievements or long tasks to complete instead of XP. Re-balancing the XP table just isn't worth it right now and the problems that arise with powering up pokemon past level 50. Besides, earning experience isn't impressive like level 60 should be, complete difficult challenges would be a pretty great way to do that! Thanks for coming to my ted talk

We might get lvl 55 as a cap instead of 60 and have it require 500mil exp. Even if we get 60 and have to earn 1 bil. Exp they will probably add increased exp from all sources or add new ways to get exp as they did with friendships. Still unobtainable by most of the casual playerbase since alot of people arent even close tolevel 50 yet.

Ok, here is something I have been thinking about for a long time... I think lv 50 is fine and it shouldn't go any higher. Because think about this, in the main series game you can max out a pokemon at lv 100 but still in PVP and competitive Pokemon battles the Pokemon drop to lv 50. So right now we can get Pokemon all the way to lv 50. So I feel like it should stay that way. Plus the grind for new players would be just way to much. I think you just need to add more medals or quest or things to do in game for the people already at lv 50. Most people have a life and can't live the Pokemon Go life 24/7

No problem on my end with the XP being set extremely high. I am just about to hit level 50 and while I might never made it to 1 billion, it’s some aspirational for sure. I do echo the Pokémon leveling increase concern. Medicham would become even more broken in great league if it could make it to level 50+ in comparison to so many other Pokémon. Same for ultra league which already is dominated by level 50 mons. Pokémon that max under 2500 would be just unbearable like g-Fisk, pelipper, Umbreon, Dubwool, and so many more

Always trying to maximize my XP gains. Played 3 yrs and almost lv 49. Lv 50 to 60 can't be SO difficult that only career players can achieve it. Niantic needs to either makes it reasonably attainable or increase the amount of XP for things. Either way, I'll still be playing! Thanks Billy. :)

i think if they ever want to increse the lv even a bit they should stop increase the amount of exp u need with each level. instead they should make that u need an flat amount of xp for example 50 million for each level but then u have to do some really challanging and hard tarsk in order to get to the next level. something like: hit 10 exelent throws in a row 5 times or something. + if they ever want to go all the way up to level 100 and would keeo increse the amount of xp u need each level we would be at 1 trillion xp at some point.

the lvl 50 task: Succesfully catch att least one of the next 5 legendary or mythical pkmn you encounter... from the word's it could sound like you could get hard lock at lvl 49, if you somehow didnt cacth 1 of the 5 legendary, since most mythical from payed reasearsh is garantee cacth, but you could open a meltan box an 5 runs from you or raid 5 that all run, unlikely but could happen.

I love this game a lot but honestly if they boosted to 60 then I would probably quit. I’m already gone f2p at 43 but I’m just losing interest between all the bugs/exploits as well as trash raids. I’m American dude and 2 complete weeks of boring game play slowly losing my interest in the game.

What's the point? Niandick doesn't give you anything of real value for the levels. Once you can gain XL and level a 'mon up to 50 there is nothing except bragging rights. The level rewards are a joke in relation to the time and effort it takes to reach the levels. How many times have you said that level 50 should give an extra permanent incubator. THAT'S the kind of thing the higher level players should be getting as an incentive to level up. Since I hit level 40 I'm just a casual player. Way more concerned with just getting dust and high quality GBL & Raid IV pokemon. I'm 45 now. Couldn't care less. Give me something meaningful IN GAME (not a damn pose or jacket) and then maybe I'd make more effort. And heaven help us all if they increase the cap on pokemon levels. Obtaining 296 XL for legendaries is already a money grab joke at best. At worst it's a cheaters reward - looking at you cradle walkers for Zarude and similar 'mon. Make it 5mill per each level after 50th. That's reasonable. Add in tasks and similar requirements as part of each level's requirements. Give us a VALUABLE reward. I'm against the level 60 concept. Mainly for the fact that getting pokemon to level 50 isn't easy and/or cheap, but to invest hypothetically another 296 xl candy & 250k to dust to max it to 60?!

I’d be ok with unique challenges and some EXP to get to lvl 60. If it’s a billion I’m out . Not even lvl 50 yet

Maybe Niantic should introduce Trainer titles. For example the next level could be “Expert Trainer”, you are given more tasks to get to this level. And to maintain this “Expert Trainer” level you must continue to complete a set of minimum tasks each month. And continue to add Trainer titles. Just an idea.

I get the feeling, your goal is to have at least enough XP to complete lvl 60. But isnt it much better if there is still something to work on/level at? Idk i did not play through all the years, and i love the grind till 50 RN🙌🏽

I kinda hope not, I'm level 47 and the level grind is beyond tedious, I'm debating whether or not to just stick at this level and enjoy the game more.

Makes no sense. No normal person would have the time to get to level 60 with 1 billion XP. And putting of 99,99999% of all players from having a chance of getting level 60 would not get more players, it would make players quit in my opinion. Even level 50 requires a lot of grind, and even more soo if you are a free2play trainer.

Pokemon should stay at 50, but the trainer level should go up to 60 with tasks that award 20,000xp etc or a master trainer quest line for players that gives out not just the master ball but the likes of the GS ball, Mewtwo Clone Balls etc
