Even ignoring the existence of non-op trans folks, I'm inclined to side with Harry. As cars are manufactured, and non-reproductive, gender is purely a decorative choice of self-identification, and McQueen has stuck by *his* guns for the duration of the franchise. That said, I will say Harry's originaly argument also holds some appeal to me. An asexual castrati for the sake of race performance, with some leftover romantic attraction, makes for a more compelling story than the "obligatory het romance arc" so taken-for-granted by big Hollywood movies on a near universal level. That said, for a final bit of spice to throw in the stew, I posit that McQueen is, in fact, a pre- or non-op transmasc who has simply been gendered correctly through the franchise. EDIT: I posted that final paragraph with less than two minutes left in the video, only to see it become the consensus opinion. You and yours are truly a sight to behold.

an increase in speed limit can increase number of crashes on a road though. if something were to go wrong that would result in a crash the braking distance of the car (that is, the distance the car travels while braking before coming to a stop) is longer at a higher speed due to the force required to stop the car increasing. this alongside the fact that going faster decreases the time you have to react to the aforementioned thing going wrong, increasing the distance you travel *before* you apply the brakes
@-hello61772 жыл бұрын
The person can still cause damage or even loss of life under the first scenario of the braking, it is very possible for the reckless driver to be alive by the end of an accident due to braking but there to be other victims, at least if that person is dead they have no risk of causing something like that again

Thing is, from the moment we learn to run, humans learn how far ahead to look for relevant information at various speeds. Someone driving fast is subconsciously planning further ahead in time than the person driving slow, as there is less redundant information that the brain is reprocessing.

You could take the entirety of 4:16 - 6:46 and use it as one of those OOC videos you see so much on Twitter. FC was ranting for so long, I nearly forgot what the video was about, only to be gut-punched back on-topic.

All the way back when I was 10, I had this big birthday party. All of my friends were invited, and we talked and had food and played video games together. You know, it was around that time when I really started to think about the world around me, the idea that all the fancy things I had the luxury of using were the result of years and years and years of work by untold legions of people who had more intelligence than I could comprehend at the time. So I thought, “Okay, I wanna be one of those people. I wanna change the world. And I’ll work hard so that I’m smart enough and skilled enough to do it, and people will know my name for it.” Obviously, kid-me could never hope to understand what it meant to dream realistically. He only knew how to dream big. And that’s one of the things about kids: they have this unbridled optimism about the world. Like everything is gonna be okay. And you know what the funny thing is about older folks like us? All we do is wish to live in the kind of world that our children think we live in. All our lives are accompanied by some sense, however subconscious, that we were at some point cheated out of the promise of a world without all this horrible stuff, all this war and poverty and political strife. And sometimes, of course, we contemplate our own insignificance. How helpless we feel to change what we don’t like about the world. How each and every one of us will die one day, and how our lives, however long they may seem, are simply too short for us to do absolutely everything that we want to get out of this mortal coil. I mean, most of our time’s gonna go toward tending to those pesky responsibilities of ours, right? So… it’s saddening to think about for a lot of us. But hey, we gotta think about it. “What do you want to be when you grow up?” Exactly that question, exactly that wording, same exact meaning every time: What’s your job gonna be? You can’t say, “I want to be really smart!”, or, “I want to be super strong!”, because that’s not what they’re asking. They’re asking how you expect to make money. That’s all they’re concerned about. One of my favorite variants of this question is, “Where do you see yourself in so-and-so years?” If someone asked me this question right now, and let’s say it’s about where I see myself in five years, I’d probably say, “I dunno, my bed?” And of course, that’s once again not what they’re asking for, but the question just annoys me in general, so I’m just hoping that they get the hint and leave me alone. I remember being asked this question at that birthday party all those years ago, except the time frame in question was ten years. And it’s funny because “in ten years” referred to this very day, right now. So I guess we can see how I did. Very poorly, I think. I haven’t changed the world much. And I’d end my answer there, but I just thought of a funny idea: what if that question came with the expectation that I’d just start spouting off an absolutely exhaustive breakdown of the day that was to come in 10 years? Boy, wouldn’t that be something. Well, today was pretty average. Ate some food, played some games, and mostly did nothing productive. And as the day came to a close, I caught a glimpse of a video title. “Is Lightning McQueen trans?” … You know, people always used to ask me what I saw myself doing in the future. There is not a single person who has ever expected me to say, “Staying up until midnight browsing KZbin so as to stumble upon and consciously choose to watch an Ace Attorney trial about whether or not Lightning McQueen from Cars is transgender.” But it’s as they say: Life is full of the unexpected. When I was 10 years old, I expected that, in 10 years, I would be happy.

Am I missing some crucial detail? Which car part is he missing, and how do we know? Is this about his headlights? Or something else entirely? Also, about the engine thing, you forget that the cars in Cars have MOUTHS under their hoods. McQueen ties the first race we see him in with his TONGUE, so tell me then, Froggy, (if I may refer to you as such,) WHERE IS THE ENGINE?!
