At this point I would be happy with the V4x sound. Why do they insist on wanting to go HIGHER. She’s the one that was done dirtiest by Crapton. At least MEIKO had her amazing Power bank and KAITO the status of like, the manliest if not the only manly of the bunch. Luka? she first got robbed of her append banks and then became a Guinea pig for EVEC. Not to mention the drastic change in her tone.

That's unfortunately impossible to do, bc V2 samples use CV phoneme transition, while V3-V5 was recorded as CVVC Technically, we will never get the updates of the classic V2 VBs

hearing Luka's new voice was WILD. saying they Miku-ified Luka is definitely an accurate description, she sounds so young wtf,,, Luka's voice has always sounded so mature and even a little more elegant than the other voicebanks so it's so bizarre hearing how nasally and high-pitched she is with default configurations lmaooo 😭

I have a theory that Piapro Studio NT and whatever they used to make the SP banks were made specifically with Miku in mind (with the others as a mere afterthought), and whatever they use to process the samples was specifically designed to make her voice sound fuller and to try to approximate the tone color of her V2 (which _also_ used engine noise to contribute to its distinctive sound), so all the engine noise ends up sounding specifically Miku-ish. And there is a _lot_ of engine noise (all the weird nasal sounds are engine sounds far as I can tell). I suspect part of this is to try to mask the fact that Fujita Saki's high range has diminished somewhat with age in the 15+ years following the original recording, so they end up falling back on the rendering engine to make the voice sound the way they wanted it to sound. Poor Luka's voice suffers because of how poorly it mixes with the ever-present noise, it's far too easily overpowered. If Crypton wants to make Piapro Studio better, then they need to find a way to not rely so much on the engine to do the tonal heavy lifting and instead find a way to work it into the voicebank itself, then decrease the amount of noise so that the other vocals can shine.

this sounds like it has to be it to me, imo. because ive always thought that miku has sounded the least like her provider out of the piapro bunch, which would make sense if the timbre of her voice actually came from the choppiness of their first attempt in vocaloid 2 rather than saki fujita, and it just happened to match up in a way that sounded good and iconic rather than like a mistake. also because the crazy thing is that even in this videos "improved" version... it still sounds a lot like miku to me especially in certain vowels/verbs, except now it sounds like miku dark rather than miku original. although I don't think the reason is that saki fujita's high range has diminished, because I'm actually pretty sure they're still using the exact same recordings from 2007. in fact, for the most part, it seems like most upgrades from previous vocaloid versions to new ones use the original recordings and only refine them and make them compatible with the new engine's processing/features. vflower and v4flower for example are clearly the exact same samples, just cleaned up a touch, and the same applies to a lot of other upgrades. the only consistent exception to this I can think of (besides vocals that have moved engines entirely like IA) is Gumi, because it seems to me like Megumi Nakajima has re-recorded her samples for every new iteration except SynthV, which I think just uses her Vocaloid6 samples. That makes sense though, because Gumi intentionally tries to match Megumi Nakajima's actual singing voice more than most other vocaloids, who are expected to match a consistent and rather inhuman "character" sound---like the other exception being of course Luka v4's re-recorded samples, which everyone has complained about ever since her release. If I recall correctly, the only reason they re-recorded hers was because Yuu Asakawa herself disliked the way Luka v2 sounded and is much happier with the way Luka v4 represents her voice, which is probably why they never went back to the v2 samples. it makes sense why they still reuse old samples for most of the other ones, but I almost wonder if the reason the newer cryptonloids seem so overprocessed is specifically to compensate for their use of 15+ year old recordings, which may have been compressed and decompressed who knows how many times, recorded on inferior mics, etc - although I guess that specific theory doesn't account for Luka, unless they're applying that processing across the board (which is very possible).

the product was extremely rushed and they DELIBERATELY spliced in miku NT samples as well. it's both a "NT is a bad engine" issue and "the voicebank was poorly made" issue

Or they were originally NT voicebanks and with the bad rep Miku NT has and low profits they didn’t want to tarnish their NT products anymore especially with Luka sounding this bad. So they just lazily ported all their badly made NT voices to vocaloid.

I closed my eyes and listened to Luka's new voicebank, she honestly sounds like Rin more than Miku in my head, like when Rin is using her more middle and low tones in her singing. I don't like the new change, it isn't necessarily bad, but they removed the difference in the voice compared to the other female vocaloids 🐟💔

Honestly, since they done her V4 I noticed a change in her voice, and by the time I was really sad because she's one of my favorites vocaloids, but the song "last of me" by CircusP made me have a little hope that it was not so changed after all. So for me is really sad that they made it at the point that we need a tutorial to de-mikuify her. (also I can't stand her in project sekai, because that's not luka, that's some other thing that they insist in call 'luka', and I feel like I lost something that I really love).

I love evey version of her but I know you can pull luka out from SP by combining her with V4x and a lot of ppl don’t know tht. There's a little button right in the corner in the screen where you select your singers, if u press it the 2nd voice panel will be displayed, obviously you have to own the voice you wanna use, once it's selected, you will see the name of the second voice in the XSY parameter
