Max went 5 rounds with Dustin, Dustin beat max but max only had like 5-6 weeks notice for that. He’s has 12 plus weeks for this to put on the right weight and to add strength. Idk if he wins but he give Justin a hell of a fight

I’ve never before pondered this matchup as a possibility. But imagine Poirier gets booked to fight Islam for the belt and loses (Not at all a far fetched scenario). my personal opinion is that what was missing from the first fight with Islam was consistency with how MMA is judged. Is it damage or effective grappling? Also does effective grappling mean getting a dominant position and then holding it without doing anything? Volk had Islam on his back for 2-3 mins in the 4th round, but he clearly damaged Islam more while Islam did nothing with the position except get hit in the face. Volk clearly won rounds 1-3. The thing missing from the 2nd fight was actual time to prepare, but I also give credit to Islam for adjusting the game plan. I'm surprised we haven't seen more of that head kick from a taller opponent to a shorter one, because there's no good way to block that and it pings off the top of the head. Volk fighting Ilia so soon after that KO and past the magic age was really ill advised.

Yes this is a mistake but its its because Illia beat Volk after this match was signed. He should of called it off the day after but of course its too late now.
