The information in this video is 100% on point. Any populated city, anywhere in the world, does have dangerous areas. It's as simple as that. For just a small example, Los Angeles, New York City, Chicago, Miami, Houston, and the like have no go zones. So the take away from this is to have situational awareness, research where to stay out of, and everything should be good to go. Here is a bonus, if you go to Zona 18 in Guatemala City, there is a high likelihood of encountering a problem, especially at night and alone.

What kind of life is that being constantly worried about standing out, wearing the right outfits, leaving the house at nightfall, being spoken to by strangers, being gringo priced, etc. It's risk being taken in spite of knowing how inherently dangerous the area is, all for the benefit of cheaper, comfortable lifestyle and ... you know what. Where I live absolutely no street smarts are required at any time of day, you could sleep on the street with your Rolex, nothing would ever happen. But, yeah, the "you know what" aren't cheap or easy and rent's a nuisance. Never met so many people who've fallen victim to crime or with bad familiy histories as in Colombia. Imagine you were rich, would you still want to live there?

That may be the best short vid on safety in Medellin I've seen yet. It's well balanced and not the "they won't get me I'm too smart" arrogance you find from some other content creators. I'd mention that guys need to keep their eyes on their drinks when out or even at home, especially when with female company. Other than that it was about the perfect video. Keep it coming! :-)

Great video, although I live above the redline..lo in Bello, I think most folks have a misconception about this area, The difference with Bello is that the local gangs control the neighborhoods and they don’t allow too much petty theft and robbery, because they will deal with it personally. Bello has very affordable places to live and they are very nice and less congested than Medellin. Anywhere you are is about self awareness been here since the early 90s never had an issue. It also helps that I am Hispanic but I also stick out at 6’5. This place is truly magical and peaceful .

@@FelixTheTraveler As someone who has family members and friends in all 10 Spanish/Portuguese speaking countries in South America over several decades (real friendships not no Tinder crap) I assure you there are plenty of people in South America of European (Spanish, Italian, French, Portuguese) descent who are well above 6 feet in height. I used to have a South America sports channel. Here are 5 randoms from 20 years ago off of the top of my memory. All 5 played in the NBA. Luis Scola 6'9" Manu Ginobili 6'6" Anderson Varejao 6'11" Fabricio Oberto 6'10" Thiago Splitter 7'0" None of them were even the tallest on the various teams they played on while playing in South America. The tallest player ever drafted by an NBA team was from Argentina. 7'7" 1/2. He ended up becoming a professional wrestler because he had bad knees.

Gringos aren't specifically targeted for robbing, drugging stuff in us cities. They are a target in Colombia. Also ... Aren't majority of scoping s happening in poblado?

I find it incredible the amount of ignorance and disrespect many US visitors bring with them to Medellin. Many arrive with very little understanding of the language and culture. They do arrive with sex charged hormones ready to bolt the gates at JMC airport. If these Sexpats are watching your video and have already arrived it’s probably to late. It’s fascinating we see countless travel warning and lifestyle videos like this with virtually nothing positive to say except a view from a rooftop. Now how do the Colombians perceive these videos you may ask ? They don’t appreciate them because they are totally drama filled by wanna be players who become experts after living here a few months and now want to save us. The real deal by someone who knows better with four decades of experience in this city can teach you something. Don’t come here for sex and drugs. Learn some Spanish and put the translators away. Stay out of tourist areas of the city. Turn down the volume on your voices so as not to bring attention. How about making some Colombian friends ? Get involved with your community . Follow these short guidelines and your life will be drama free.

@@FelixTheTraveler I’m not referring to you. You would think that visitors would know some Spanish or something more about the culture before coming to visit. Some of them can’t even spell Colombia or Poblado. Many that I have met over the years and already HERE are ignorant AF. Why do you think we see many expats now looking to get away from friending other expats ? Obviously my observation don’t matter to you and that’s OK.
