ध्यान एक बात है, ध्यान की विधियां दूसरी बात है। ध्यान सतत, अनवरत होता है, ध्यान की विधियां सीमित होती है। चेतना को हर समय ध्यान की आवश्यकता होती है,जैसे शरीर को हर समय श्वास (प्राणवायु) की जरूरत होती है। सचेत रहना ही ध्यान है। और ध्यान ही हमे इंसान बनाता है। *समझना ही ध्यान है।* *जब आप सही से सुन रहे हो, समझ रहे हो, अवलोकन कर रहे हो, निरीक्षण कर रहे हो, तो आप ध्यान मे हो, ध्यान जीवन जीने का एक तरीका है।* ध्यान की विधियां अनंत है, लेकिन वे सीमित है, शुरूआती लोगों के लिए सीमित समय के लिए उपयोगी हो सकती है, पर ध्यान अनवरत सतत होता है।
