I lived all over the valley from the 90s to 2021. I loved the older areas of Chandler and Mesa. No HOAs, feels more established, houses dont all look the same. Ultimately, I left AZ to be in a cooler climate with 4 seasons, but if I ever had to live in AZ I would still gravitate toward the older more established east valley neighborhoods.

I agree about older neighborhoods in Chandler and Mesa! There is something about them that feels much less "cookie cutter"

I've lived in Mesa my whole life, i grew up on the east side that was technically nicer, new housing development, middle class families. Moved yo west mesa when i turned 18, i love this side of town! Yeah its definitely a little more ghetto but hey thats part of its charm lol I'm in the country club brown area just north of downtown. One thing i gotta say is on the west side here its more ghetto but i can leave stuff on my porch and no ine messes with it, when i lived in the nicer east side we were getting stuff stolen all the time. Either way just pointing out that crime statistics and neighborhoods don't always add up, great video! :)

I still have multiple fliers from the early 1980's printed by various real estate firms stating that blacks were not welcome in Mesa. We bought down here in 1984. We're white but I kept those handouts because I was so shocked by them.

We've visited Mesa/Chandler PHX area 5 times in last few years and its impossible to get over having everything be concrete or brown gravel and NO WATER anywhere. No rcreeks, no lakes, no nothing - except for man made golf ponds and the dammed salt river. We've tried to like the place but its hard. For those of you that like the desert, I would recommend Chandler / Foothills area. For Mesa i like Red Mountain Ranch and the areas near Salt River parks are pretty nice.

There is always a problem there if you are not Mormon, especially troublesome for children. And when you say it gets hot, you mean HOT - over 110 degrees many days of the summer. I lived there a while and hope I never see the place again.

Exactly, more on the northeast side of Mesa. I personally like this area! This general area is somewhat eclectic. You'll see some newer construction and then some pockets of older homes as well. According to sites like "crimegrade.org" and "neighborhoodscout", this area is definitely on the safer side. But I always recommend people drive or walk around just to make sure they like the area ☺

@@Caddo_Art Fountain Hills is actually quite a competitive housing market right now (5th highest market index for Phoenix metro). Anthem isn't quite as competitive but we're expecting quite a bit of growth out that direction. Particularly with TSMC starting operations in 2024. @@CourtneyinPhoenix either or to be honest. an active community. I enjoy gyms, running outside and basketball mostly. thank you!
@CourtneyinPhoenix
@CourtneyinPhoenix Жыл бұрын
@@BC09a1 As for more downtown/urban areas, downtown/central Phoenix, Old Town Scottsdale, and Tempe (north side by campus) are probably the most energetic/younger areas. Chandler, Gilbert, and Mesa all have downtown areas as well with good energy! I would say historically these 3 areas were more suburban/family oriented. However, Chandler and Gilbert are definitely more up and coming making it more attractive for younger people in general. As for outdoor activities, even if you're downtown, you can access some sort of a trail system within 20-25 minutes pretty much anywhere in the city. There are plenty of gyms pretty much all across the valley too. However, some of the larger, swankier gyms are going to be in Scottsdale and central Phoenix. Phoenix is such a large area and varies so much! So it really just depends what you're looking for specifically! Feel free to email me if you have further questions 😀

Thank you for this! We're planning to relocate and looking around for apartments. What are your thoughts on Parkwood Ranch area? Is it safe?
@CourtneyinPhoenix
@CourtneyinPhoenix Жыл бұрын
The crime stats directly in Parkwood Ranch are relatively low compared to other parts of Mesa. I will say this general area (north of 60/east of 202) is kind of eclectic. It's a mix of families/retirees, apartments/homes/mobile homes. And with that, the crime rates can change block to block. The following link will break down the crime rates in more specific areas: www.neighborhoodscout.com/az/mesa/crime Hope that helps!

she’s overselling this HARD as someone who lives in mesa and grew up here-don’t move here. atleast if you’re not a mormon. people here are close minded, if you don’t hike or like the out doors you will be so fucking miserable in addition, you can’t even hike or go out side during summer. virtually no cheap attractions and life for your children will be even worse. our schools quality of life is getting worse and worse by the year ( they are safer however but not necessarily better) also it’s a hot spot for snow birds so expect life during the winter months to be over crowded. she only mentions north mesa in detail but if you can even afford to live there you would be better off buying a house in a better city. the biggest thing you need to consider is life during the summer months. she barely mentions this 😅. people general attitude is one of apathy and boredom. go to downtown and alta mesa neighborhoods,eat at a few places and you’ve basically experienced mesa. TLDR things look pretty and clean from the outside but once you get here you will be bored out of your mind.

As someone who has live in Az for the past 18 years and i came to Az when I was still a kid from California and I live in bad areas here in Az like south phx and west phx and Laveen. I always heard this about Mesa is a good place depending we’re you stay in the area with that I agree. I live in Peoria now and honestly thing I love about Mesa is the food I’m Mexican but Mesa and Tempe and chandler and downtown phx and east phx have all the best food. Mesa and chandler alone have the best Asian food scene in all of Az. That’s were the Asian district is at in Mesa and I love the food there and Mesa has this feeling of a city ready to boom 💥 and become the next big thing I’m the food scene the same with chandler they just have so much now. The great thing about it is it’s connected to Tempe and Scottsdale and chandler.
