Nice wrap up Greg, I've had my EV6 for approx 1 year now, it's cheaper to register than my previous Outlander PHEV, insurance went up only marginally this year, I'm getting better than advertised kWh/100km and range has increased. All my charging is done from home off grid from solar, I have nothing to complain about, loving the EV world, even though there seems to be a lot of anti EV sentiment around lately !

Thanks for the comment Andy. Yes the anti EV lobby has ramped up negative sentiment....I get the feeling they are feeling really under threat now.

I've owned both the gen 1 and now gen 2 (at the time I bought the gen2, was a total of hard to resist $9k incentive/rebates in QLd - one from MG, the other from the govt. The LFP battery in the short range is wonderful). In any case, the second hand market for the gen1: Yes I agree, this is a very good, felixble EV for urban use, ie, great visibility, turning circle, storage, rear row room & very cleverly designed to the price point. Only real downsides I found was the no light in rear row (easily remedied with aftermarket), and possibly the general weakness the further you get back in the car: driver & passenger great, second row not as much, rear door and cover material weaker, no auto tailgate). No aircon in rear row. Upsides include 7 year warranty; great, flexible pano roof with shade, more than reasonable sound system; body parts shared with ICE models & generally good availbility in case of a dingle. Insurance & rego costs not too bad. Second hand shopping then, I'd add: NMC battery degredation: most fuss-free way is to re-set the trip meters then do or a 100% charge & battery balance if poss. Full charge in N is 263ks & so any less than that shows the degredation; in warm weather if poss. Check steering wheel lock-to-lock for any clicks or noises (known potential fault & warranty fix). Check pano roof opening & closing for any noises or sticking; Check all upholstery for any splitting or cracking; In AU by now the sw should be up to date & most likely not an issue. The rest is the same as per an second hand ICE car, third party inspection of the usual if you like. Personally, I never had any issues with my gen 1 over two years. I'd get a little less range in winter but it always came back in summer. Mind you, I did take the trouble to look after the NMC battery as recommended, ie: generally charge to 80%, then to 100% every six weeks or so & with a following battery balance. And so, yes, can depend of previous owner behaviour, but then can be corrected with a little patience and time. Great little car, went like the clappers and put far more torque to the road than the gen2 which has been refined a bit in terms of E, N & S modes. The gen 1 would fishtail at the drop of a hat.

Good video, very informative. The Peugeot E-2008 2023 stock at $39,990 was sold out a few days ago. Poor dealer network for Peugeot and low sales numbers may cause problems as the cars age.

Would I buy again? Yes. Either of the current model would be great given the ability to Tow, Vehicle to x & the battery percentage read out as well as ability to set 80% charge limit on the bigger battery car. The 72 would be great with its extra range but not necessary after having the 44.5 The 50 would be great for the supposed benefits the LFP bring. With a 2021 ZS EV & a 2023 MG4 I’d like to know how the new LFP ZS EV charges, as the MG4 seems to hold its higher charge rate reasonably well unlike the OG ZS EV. I’d love to upgrade for the towing but want to hold onto my ZS for as long as I can. 2.5years & 52k km.

Donated :) Thanks so much for this video Greg. I'm seriously considering this car. How do you like it on the Freeway? I do a lot of freeway driving. I see reviews saying a 5 year warranty. You say 7 years...

Hi Duane, thanks for watching and the donation. Yes, travels well on the freeway with surprising efficiency, between 16-18 kWh per 100km, given the boxy, non airo shape. Probably the worst thing is the seats. Their ok but not great on longer journeys over 2.5+ hours at a time. Lack of Regen braking when using cruise control is also a stupid design but depending on terrain/traffic conditions not such a big deal. Some different models may have different Warranty periods but ours was 7 years car, 8 years on battery. I believe MG have just announced 10 yr Warranty so they must be comfortable the cars will last. Enjoy.

@@ElectricCarAustralia Did you find the MG iSmart phone app useful at all?

@@duanebonney our Gen 1, 2020 model does't have an App. Have to get the Gen 2 model for that. I'm told it's works ok with basic, useful functionality but lacks full feature smarts like higher priced EVs.
