@@lynackhilou4865 it’s specifically Tony’s grappling they got exposed in the Charles fight and Beneil fight. Tony was piecing Charles up on the feet and held his on against Beneil in the striking. The Justin fight, we learned two things. Firstly that Tony can eat as many kitchen sinks as it takes within 3 rounds to get the job done. His chin is impeccable. Secondly, your first mistake will be your last. Justin slipped up once and that almost lost him the fight. I really like the "humble yourself" mentality at the end. From what I've seen since I first started watching MMA, younger fighters don't seem to want to humble themselves and they burn out too quickly because of the pressure to get gold within that window. While that window of opportunity is different for everyone, it's a real and painful reality more in combat sports than in other mainstream sports. Careers can end in one single night. I think people are in a rush because they know that day may come tomorrow or in several years, like Chael said. Eventually, the sport is done with you.

Wrestling was, by far, the most demanding sport I’ve ever competed in. For me, baseball and football seem to come naturally. Judo wasn’t too bad and layed the groundwork for me to start training Jui Jitsu ( circa 1990). But of all these sports, wrestling kicked my ass daily. I continued to play Judo until I was 53 yrs old. My mind said yes, but my body had other plans. Point is this, MMA fighters master it all. That’s a tough job. Pay them. Especially the best of the best. The only thing I’ve seen is Tony doesn’t want to get hit like he used to anymore and therefore his pressure on the feet is gone and with that gone fighters are able to push him to the fence and pick em up and slam em. Tony has not had to use his wrestling for a long time and favored being down there but his recent opponents were able to just do it early every rd without gassing and there wasn’t much he could do. Maybe he cant explode like he used to but lets be real both Oliveira and Dariush basically just laid on em for 3 rds after their failed submission attempts. Both wanted finishes early and couldn’t get em. I bet if they had tried to get him out of there instead of taking the easy decision, Tony would have had a chance. Point is Chandler being a dude wanting to take his head off means hes the perfect opponent for Tony to get his flow back on the feet. Conor would have been more ideal but this isn’t nearly as bad as people say.

May be because tony s orbital bone broke during Gaethje fight ,tony stopped pressuring and moving forward,which was the biggest assest of him winning 12 fights along with cardio,his approach is now to not take damage and tony is not dumb he thinks about his kid and family,but this way he becomes normal orthodox fighter ,and he don't have Elite boxing like dustin Poirier or something,how is he gonna win ,Chandler on the other side have safest way to just take tony down and and pray for 15 minutes if Dariush and olivera cannot ground pound tony chandler will not ,but idk man Chandler goes there and forgets gameplan sometimes I feel he is crazy like in 3 rd round against Gaethje guy was eating shots like a wall,if he makes such mistakes and go to strike with Ferguson may be tony can catch him somewher wand make it competative in 2nd and 3rd round ,or Chandler takedown is safest what Chandler can ,do ,he can also too tony in round 1,god I don't want to see that happening,I want tony to cut Chandler so bad ,doctor stoppage

love the take of the career circumstance. in Oklahoma I think the reverse of the training conundrum exists. you don't have to search for the wrestling it's just around the corner in our several big towns. But other then BJJ you might have to drive an hour or 2 to get to a specific art school. unless you live in okc, then you can go slum with the Lavato's. I am sad I missed the chance to train with them back in the 90s. damn that time and money

Randy Coutre had JUST missed qualifying for the Olympic team when he decided to try the UFC, his buddy trying to cheer him up telling him about "tough man contests" with a $50,000 purse around 1995. He beat a monster Vitor Belfort and amazed the World- only it now makes a sense that a World class wrestler fresh put of Olympic cardio training could shock a World class B.J.J. Champion. Uncle Chael is correct about the relative obscurity wrestling training still resides in in the U.S.

The comments on this video solidify the fact that 99% of this community is nothing more than fair weather fans. Tony has not “lost a step” by losing to the three top guys in the division. Nor is he close to retirement. And I do believe, after years and years of watching chandler at bellator, that this fight absolutely ends in Tony getting his hand raised

It's not just that he lost 3 fights in a row. It's that he got thoroughly dominated for every round for 3 fights in a row. With that said, I don't think he was ever better than Gaethje or the current version of Oliveira. I'd still pick prime Tony over Dariush though.

Chandler goes in as favourite but he does have some vulnerabilities, he’s relatively chinny and his ground defence hasn’t really been tested. It could be a much more competitive fight than most people think, Tony’s cardio is still top tier and if it goes into deep waters he could surprise everybody.

Not a fan of the matchmaking on this one... IMO, Ferguson's next opponent should've been McGregor... it would've given Conor a winnable fight against a big name opponent, and it would've given Ferguson the biggest payday of his career in what should be his final fight Based on what we've seen from Tony in the last couple of years, he's more likely to leave the Octagon on a stretcher than he is victorious
@bunnybro1333
@bunnybro1333 2 жыл бұрын
Yes but Conor s going for usman and dustin and diaz ,diaz3 always there no one wants to see dustin Conor again,and Conor tony wud have been the most easiest match for Conor McGregor in whole ufc because tony is still ranked ,I love tony ,but now he is most easy matchup for any one ,Conor ain't doing anything against Gaethje Dustin Chandler why the fuck he wants to take big heavy risk matches,if he can take Ferguson for Tony's retirement fight ,and maybe he can knock him out and make a statement to direct get olivera and as much as conors power and olivera takes shots like that ,Conor have good chance of ko ing olivera in round 1

There wasn't a lot but Dariush beat Tony standing as well. He came forward, put pressure on and beat him to the punch. It's amazing Tony didn't tap but Dariush is a different animal. He's high level everywhere. Tony didn't expect him to trade then shoot. This fight will be telling. If it's not competitive. That doesn't bode well for Tony.

I don't know if Tony would have ever beat the top tier fighters, due mostly to his style, you can only block with your face and imanari roll to so many victories. especially against those with extremely heavy hands. Not to mention those Olives with a greater sub game. I've always looked at him as someone of Masvidal's caliber. Beats most journeymen (win streak). Loses convincingly to the top tier.
