Great review Robbie. I personally preferred the second half of the movie. I liked how they filmed the midnight suns, as you know I love all that kind of stuff!!!

Hereditary is superior. The screenplay is more complex and more layered and Hereditary is more frightening and the performance by Toni Collette is oscar worthy. Midsommar is also exceptional but I feel if you are ranking Aster's filmography you would have to choose Hereditary as the duality of the plot with both the hereditable nature of family and family histories influence on individuals being so based in reality, alongside the actual satanic (Paimon) worship of the horror plot, makes for one of the most well-written and intelligent horror film scripts of all time. The horror in Hereditary is so rich and based in reality, and this is also true of Midsommar, but not to the same degree. Both films are amazing but I think head to head Hereditary slightly edges it. I saw both films in the cinemas and have watched them both innumerous times since at home. Midsommar directors cut is an improvement also, except the dam boy sacrifice scene which could have stayed cut. I'd give Midsommar a 8/10 and Hereditary a 9/10
