@hazyhope._.3 жыл бұрын
Huh. Misty Island is actually overhated. Compared to BWBA or JBS, it does better in showing how concerned and worried STH and the engines are over Thomas' disappearance. For JBS, was there ever really a scene where the engines show genuine concern about Thomas (the closest we got was the sheds scene where James decides to leave)? Just how James or the engines get along with doing extra work in his place. In BWBA, the engines laugh about Thomas' disappearance, joking about how he probably fell down a mine (or his past history of accidents). It has ONE song about looking for Thomas, and the rest is "haha funny fat controller fails to find Thomas ahaha". Misty Island takes itself too seriously at times, but it does an amazing job at portraying the sense of losing someone.
@chesapeakedproductions30092 жыл бұрын
Ok, to be fair JBS is ok for what it's worth. Think about it. This was really the last time a darker tone was touched upon for the rest of the series, the only other instance at least in the CGI era was in Hero Of The Rails of Hiro's fear of being scrapped because of being abandoned, and in Blue Mountain Mystery, at least by my count. When you compare JBS to BWBA, it is pretty apparent which was obviously overshadowed and demanded to be written a certain way because of corporate demands for toys and "gender equality", and which one was less overshadowed by corporate demands. Journey Beyond was a concept thought up by the writers that wasn't too heavily changed by Mattel's demands, that being a prison break and being with family. It should also be worth mentioning that JBS was originally written as a finale of the series, since their animation company, Arc Productions, had gone bankrupt, before being picked up by Jam Filled Entertainment who finished animating both JBS, the unanimated half of Season 20, and the rest of the series onwards until the unspoken reboot (I refuse to even dare mention that dreaded rebrand). Obviously the series continued onwards for another 5 seasons, no longer making JBS a finale. Now in terms of corporate demands, these are pretty clear. The ending especially was obviously demanded by Mattel for Frankie and Hurricane, the two villains who kidnapped both Thomas and James and forced them to work for them, suddenly becoming softies who just wanted another engine to help them. The body jestures were also demanded by Mattel for some idiotic reason, however I think for Brenner's final special before the show's digression into unbrearingness starting with the BWBA changes, JBS was a pretty decent movie, despite those problems.

As a kid, I never did like it very much. Same goes for the rest of Computer Thomas, I’ve always been a Classic Series kid listening to both Ringo Starr and George Carlin. Coming back to Misty Island after like 12-13 years, and I still don’t like it. Neither did my dad who watched it with me when I was younger, we’ve always been a Classic Series family. Thomas just makes a lot of strange decisions and he was racist towards Diesel. I also noticed the lack of drivers and firemen, so if they were with Thomas, The Fat Controller would have a proper reason to look him in the wild. You know, missing people reports. Other than that, a strange movie it is.
