Great video, better review than any other about insulated bottles that I've seen. You guys deserve more views and subscribers.

I was home schooled in 6th and 7th grade around 1994. My parents were good science teachers. But this is next level. I love it.

I have really loved this one because I always wanted to know if cups made a difference and liked the way you proved it scientifically.

the Zojirushi mugs almost defy physics. Crazy well insulated

I have a zojirushi but I only use it for cold stuff. It’s almost magical how well it insulates. I leave it in my Car in the summer for hours and even over night and it stays chilled.

I work nights. I usually work 10-12 shifts. I need coffee around the 6 or 7 hour mark. And I do not like cold coffee. I have been using a zojirushi 16 oz. mug for 3 years now. And it works great. I got it on sale for around $21. And it was a great investment. it really comes in clutch.

Keeping coffee hottest the longest is really not my issue, my issue is which one is made of SS, the easiest to clean, 12-20 oz with handle option, fits in my hand and not fall apart the quickest.......

One more important constraint: The Zojirushi fits in the cockpit cupholder of an Airbus! 😊

What about the quantity of coffee in each mug? That's relevant too

My guess on how Zojirushi does it is by using very thin steel, thereby minimizing conduction losses. They're reinforced at the bottom to make it more durable than it otherwise would be.

That's right. Everyone knows that red cars are faster and pink thermal flasks are better insulated! ...though if the question comes up about WHY the Zojirushi flask retains heat better, my guess is the answer would be found in the lid. From what I've heard, most vacuum canisters lose the majority of the heat/cold of their contents through their lid, so its' own insulation matters.

7:05 'reusing a drinking container'... a) not sure SBUX or other food/bev retailers will allow this, b) even if they do you'll need to go inside store- drive-thru won't work when using your personal cup/mug.
@JohnStanton3 жыл бұрын
before COVID, sbux would allow reusables ,the would even give you a 10 cent discount….things changed after COVID though.

I bought a Zojirushi because it's not made in China. (Made in Thailand). It's a good coffee mug/thermos, no regrets getting it.

Great video👍 Just one comment: For kids learning, I wouldn't place emphasis on the price-performance relationship, and would rather explain to the kids how the use of different materials and structural design would affect the product performance. Thank you🙏

Wonderful experiment. I would like to see a repeat trial executed with the lids closed, because heat loss occurs upward, which means that by having the lids open, you are allowing more or less heat escape. At least another trial would confirm or deny that theory!

Your testing isn't as good as it could be... The difference in capacity between the examples you used will make a difference, as the contents need to heat the air as well as more surface area to transfer heat, unless you filled each container fully... I saw you using brand new probes... did you check their accuracy by placing them all in the same container to see if each probe matched the other... I use Thermoworks products, and I can tell you their probes can vary significantly.

In fairness, even though you might get slightly different results the gap between these bottles is big enough to be confident zojirushi would still retain heat the longest.

While I agree the mask nonsense was overblown, let’s not forget when this video was made there was a mandate on. How about a scientific study on the efficacy of masks. And to keep the critics of home schooling calm let’s fix the spelling of “please” on the Walmart mug. 😊
