I personally think that not everyone is cut out to be a parent. You can have good parents that aren't really made for it. A lot of people want or have kids because its one of those things that most people think they should do, even though being a parent probably isn't something that would even suit them. By the time some people realize being a parent isn't for them, though, its too late, and they've already got kids. Being bored of looking after your kids means you're never cut out for being a parent. Doesnt nean youre a bad parent, though.

So well put, I can definitely agree, I think it’s one of those that people just do because it’s the norm in society. Sad because eventually it’s the kids that are victim. Doesn’t mean these households aren’t functioning well but you have allot of families now where happiness is not central which leads to further issues. Thank for for putting it so well

My partner feels like this frequently. And I totally understand it. She's a highly educated driven woman who has highly educated driven friends, who don't have kids, who can travel all round the world when they want, can persue their careers to the fullest and never have to compromise. It's completely understandable. Women face a very difficult decision if they have both the desire to have children and are career driven.

People should stop generalising this topic because it's highly different from parent to parent 👍 It's helpful too if more mothers come forward and speak honestly about it because it's often not fulfilling or cheery, which doesn't mean that it's not also important or also rewarding. Overall parents aren't happier than childless people and there's plenty of research on the topic, so let's just be honest about it.

I don't think it's actually motherhood that people find monotonous or boring, I think it's the other stuff going on in their lives that they're mixing up with motherhood. For instance, domesticity is not motherhood, it's just part of being an adult. Washing dishes constantly is boring, interacting with your child is fun. People with more children have to wash more dishes (unless they can afford a dishwasher) so they think they're not enjoying their life and don't want to have more kids when actually they should say chores are monotonous and boring, not children

I feel the older woman was shaming the younger. It should be ok to express how you feel. I was a SAHM for 18 years and wouldn’t change it for anything, but there were times when I felt isolated and bored. I got really sick of cleaning the same counters 10 times a day. But I created things to do and developed friendships with other SAHM moms which really helped .

I totally agree. The question is “is motherhood boring” and the answer is, yes it can be for many people sometimes. It may not be for others. I am not "career driven"', but I'm freedom driven". I realize my corporate job is BS, but it's a money tool for me that gives me the ability to enjoy important stuff. Having a complete control over my free time is the most important thing to me, and I love being out, roaming the forest for hours with my dog, going on vacation whenever I want, being spontaneous and thinking about another adventure. I don't know why many people associate this kind of lifestyle with empty drinkig/partying and screwing around. I do none of those things, I don't drink, I am in a stable healthy relationship, my idea of a party is cooking for loved ones and enojoying nature and the sun. I would rot away if I was chained to a baby, repeating the same schedule every day. I realize some people apreciate it, but for me routine is soul destroying. Luckily I realized it early enough to not make any mistakes under pressure.

You know when couples get divorced they always say “ they don’t think about children”. Young mother is the prime example of why some women would be better off without children, gone is personal responsibility for making choices you know affect you in the long term. The elder mother is a true role model, this kinda stuff may not seem important but it does trickle down to the kids. Being uninterested does damage the development of young children
