Yeah I always laugh when the big breeders tell you to just use your $10,000 ultrasound to check the follicles.

great video and very helpfull,my female butter is lying inverted and in every other strange way at the moment,she has locked up every time with her male,does the inverted lying come before or after ovulation

It can come before and after, but after ovulation, riiiight before laying she'll generally find her favorite spot, curl up in a perfect spiral and stay like that for a few days before laying. At that point she'll usually also pass a small amount of yellowish urate. Those are the final signs!

i've had a few eat until they are only a few weeks from eating. i've also heard from a few breeders who had girls never go off food! just kept eating right up till laying! it's rare, but does happen. good luck!

So is it normal for a female that I've gotten 4 locks? She's going off food now and she's been going from the hot side to the cool side a lot and she's got her body sometimes and such a tight ball up front on the cool side though I can't open the bin. Is that normal? She shedded about a month ago and then shed again December 1st.

Those are great signs! 4 locks is plenty for a good clutch of eggs.

@TheReptileBarn ok well she is moving a lot from the back to the front but I haven't seen her lay upwards with her belly yet. But she hasn't eaten in like a month. So I hope I get eggs it's my first time breeding I don't have a ultrasound

hey i'm sorry youtube stopped notifying me of comments so I just saw this! they actually get a bit smaller right after ovulation. then for the next month and a half they gradually swell up again, but not all at once like ovulation. right before they lay they are really thick! they look pretty uncomfortable and lumpy.

going off food is a good sign! doesn't mean she's going to ovulate necessarily, but it is a good step.

i missed ovulation of my ball python so bad, and shes off feed, she shed, i thought she will lay her eggs after 30days but she didnt,... so bad... and its 37days now...

Don't worry too much! If you didn't see an ovulation, there's a chance she's not actually in pre lay yet. Even if she is, they go over 30 days all the time. Sometimes over 40
