Nice! I plan to add an outdoor shower to my bedroom, when I build my back porch. It will go to water my banana plants in that area. Then I can use that bathroom for guests and after swimming. Hope you're enjoying your property here.

Id use coco coir fiber for high potassium kiwi fruits. Also can use cayenne and garlic in an oil soap emulsifier for bugs. Copper makes a fungicide, which could be a downfall. Been trying these fabric pot planters but they leach out so its damn near hydro growing. Love your videos jon, eat some daikon radish;)

Here in Georgia, in my garden, it seems nothing is working to keep the bugs away especially Japanese beetles on my grapes. We have neighbors so no matter how much prevention I do to stop beetle larvae in the ground, they come from the neighbors yards. Been spraying neem almost daily, seems like the bugs think it’s happy hour. They say yum! Neem oil! Let’s eat! Hornworms say oh yeah BT! Bring it on!!

I used to be a big proponent of not using Bone Meal and Synthetic fertilizers... I still loosely follow that philosophy myself, actually. But here's my thoughts... If they're waste products from industries that will continue to exist, why wouldn't we want to provide a way for those waste products to be recycled? Like you said, Veganism is a philosophy, and so is Organics. I think that Organics aim is not being served by avoiding using Synthetic fertilizers. We're basically creating a new need to DISPOSE of those WASTE products... What do you think the fertilizer industry will do with their ammonical nitrogen if it's not being put into gardens and off gassing into the atmosphere through natural processes? Chances are, they'll just start dumping it if they can't sell it. I'd rather it be dumped in a garden and cycled back into the ecosystem. Afterall, these petroleum products and GMO crops used to for cattle feed are literally being sourced from the Earth. It doesn't matter if it's GMO or Heirloom, plants sequester Carbon and other elements from the soil. Oil deposits in the earth are vestigal decomposition of those same elements. If we don't sequester them back into the ground via gardening practices, this can be catastophic. Lately I've been purposely using Synthetic fertilizers with strong discretion, only supporting companies that have a good product, in order to avoid the fertilizer industry failing. If the fertilizer industry fails and we're not able to recycle biproducts of industry... The Earth may be the consequence.

Oh and as for Contaminants in the bone meal and synthetic fertilzers. Synthetic Fertilizer are usually extremely pure and contain little to no contaminants. Bone Meals contaminants are limited to trace heavy metals that would be found in any organic source of fertilizer, including Fish hydrolysate. You have to consider the fact that plants can remediate large amounts of contamination in soils... sure... but when it's trace, chances are the micobiology in your soil will sequester and convert contaminants far quicker than your roots will. Most contaminants, like Cyanide, can be altered into other forms by biological chemistry and can be remediated without causing a risk to those consuming the produce. It is also important to consider than plants almost always push contaminants into foliar growth, not vital sexual organs. Meaning if you are consuming the leaves from one bed, make sure its clean soil. But the fruits of another bed are far less likely to be contaminated. The plant knows that those toxins depositied in the leaves will just cause that leaf to eventually corrode and new ones will grow. It cannot take this risk with it's reproductive organs and will not store trace contaminants in fruit or flowers. The best practice for any fertilizer is to cook it before you put it in your veggie garden. You want to let the microbiology take the brundt of the toxins. ALL organic sources of fertilizer have potential to have toxins and pathogens within them.
