The whole thing with Audrey helping the kids was blown so out of proportion from the moms. Clearly Glo meant "hey, if you're unsure about something ask the oldest member of the group" because they have some off time, not "Audrey needs to run the dance during her lunchtime" and turning it into a whole job that Audrey explicitly has and needs to do her whole break. I also think for something that was pretty clearly production meddling Glo handled to left arial pretty well by framing it as "I'd rather you try and fail than just not doing it" which does make sense if the reason why it's in the dance in the first place was because the dancer just skipped over it entirely in the audition.

i feel like abby and glo will perhaps be two very different types of evil (evil used in the context of like, lesser and greater evil). glo strikes me as calm and perhaps condescending, along with having deeper rooted favoritism from the beginning with that one mom living in her basement and being her bff. in contrast to abby, who did not always view maddie as the favorite, but rather hooks onto whoever is young and talented, to groom them into her image of what she wants them to be, while neglecting all the others. i'm sure you all know the "brooke effect". abby is also (obviously) more aggressive and potent with her anger, while glo seems calculated. neither leave anything close to a good taste in my mouth.

I get what you’re saying about the left aerial, but as a dancer and dance teacher I actually really appreciate Glo putting that in. Sometimes when kids can’t get a skill, they need that extra something that pushes them to get it. They said that in between the auditions and when the first week of the show was filmed was at least a few months. If you mess up something at an audition and are told that, then it’s your responsibility to work on that. Also, like Glo said, if you can do something on the right then, as an elite dancer, you should also be able to do that on the left. I don’t think she was setting her up to fail. I genuinely believe that Glo had faith in her that she could do it. Ashlan chocked on stage and didn’t go for it. She didn’t even just put her hand down at the last second, she fully reached for the ground. Now, I’m not blaming the 11 year old - it’s a lot of pressure being on tv and performing something on stage that you never have before. But I’m just saying I understand and appreciate Glo’s reasoning.

yea exactly and i think glo wasn’t too mean to her or anything but when everyone can do it it’s also important for ashlan to be able to do it so putting her under a little pressure will most likely help with that. i’m currently learning my right aerial at home (dw i know the right technique lol i learnt it in gymnastics when i was younger but lost it again 😭) and i always try to put a little pressure on myself so i don’t put my hands down hahaha

So I totally agree with you and I do think a little pressure can help push and motivate kids! Under normal,non reality tv, circumstances I think glo pushing her to the aerial would be beneficial to Ashlyn! However, in this case I still think it was a little out of pocket because Ashlyn seems like an extremely emotional child and it’s the first episode and filming the show is so new to them all that I think it was TOO much pressure for her in the given environment. Also there is no way that production didn’t see her mess that up at the audition and weren’t like “omg yes, this is going to be tv gold” which I think is awful to do to her! AND this seems to me like evidence that production pushed for certain kids to be on the show because, yes, I agree with you and glo, is she has the right then she should have the left as an elite dancer. But she doesn’t have the left…so why did she make it on the elite team???

As a dancer myself? I HATE when dance teachers tell me I AM able to do a step/move that I myself JUST told them, I CAN’T do. Yet, they insist to still keep the step/move in the dance, anyway. (There has been a lot of times where I wanted to just change the choreography on stage, during recital and never did it, cause I knew I wasn’t supposed to. So I was just left looking like I didn’t know what I was doing)

After watching the whole season: 1- Their national dance was BEYOND anything i have seen of Abby's , it was SUUUPER REALISTIC AND EMOTIONAL...Ashlyn ,the shocking lead for the dance, actually killed it with her performance, she was so into the character she was crying even after the dance ended and that crying was what made the dance so phenomenal, i was never as invested in a dance before in my life, it was literally grammy-worthy haha 2- Glo is super nice overall, rarely involves herself in drama, takes accountability for her own actions, barely yells and actually moves when teaching dances. I have never seen her put a child down once in the show so far, so thats an improvement as well. Outside of her friendly relationship with Aubrey and her mom, she is a really good teacher 3- The newest girl that will join actually has the worst treatment. Everyone is extremely cruel and mean to her and her mom(except Glo) and they go way beyond the usual dance moms cruelness... worst offender was Aubrey, she was literally so toxic towards Gina(i think was her name ) and it was even more shocking that no one stopped her. She was insulting the girl, laughing at her etc. , the supposed team leader btw. And that kind soul never said a bad word for anyone throughout the time she was there. Idk why Aubrey was so toxic, but she was So far a really good season and it feels really different yet not as scripted as season 8 felt , even the competitions feel more real, which is surprising

Don’t quote me on this but I believe Studio Bleu also preformed their regular - not dance moms competition dances at most of these competitions, with other Studio Bleu dancers and stuff so they weren’t filmed or anything. I enjoyed this a lot more than I anticipated, I think that the girls are super talented and I really hope they get picked up for a second season bc I feel like a few of the girls didn't get showcased as much. Their "The Menu" dance and "Migrations" were truly works of art, and I like thay Glo brings a positive face to the dance world. I also think they should explore the dynamic more between Glo and her daughter and the students, she brings a whole other meaning to "Dance Moms"

Since Audrey’s also the oldest I feel like it makes a little more sense to put her front and centre a lot, she’s got more experience, she’s been in high-pressure situations before like on Broadway, she’s probably the most reliable person on the team to nail the dance since everyone’s learning it in a week. Definitely makes more sense than having an 8-year-old lead the team despite being the second youngest (Maddie)
