What did the independence of Nigeria 🇳🇬 promise? Are we celebrating bad economy, selfish leaders, empty promises? What is there to celebrate? Look at today's politicians, rich and powerful business individuals, look at popular celebrity's, all running around making business deals, going on tour, draining everyone of money for there pockets. The price of something small will cost 500 Naira or 800 or 1,200 Naira. The heads of our nation leaders are seriously greedy, selfish, self centered and routing. If this keeps up, this will seriously FUCK UP everybody, both present and future generations. You realized that Nigerian people are leaving this country for other countries right? They are leaving for a better life. We are going to America, Italy, Canada and others. Now I ask again; what's there to celebrate? Independence from what? Why are we celebrating our independence?

I’m in US and since I’ve subscribed to this channel I’ve been even more interested to learn about my culture. Just watching the different videos on this channel makes me want to visit Nigeria ASAP. The pros and cons, I love it all, watching almost 3 videos a night lol. You guys deserve even more views. I’ll be sure to tell my friends about this channel. My parents are Nigerian, my big sister was born in naija but me and my younger siblings are born in the USA and never been to Nigeria. I’m almost done with university. When I finally get a chance to go to Nigeria I’ll be sure to do something positive ijn! 🙏🏽

I really enjoyed this video, BattaBox!! Over here in the USA, we have had our DNA results updated to try and discover more of our ancestry, and we got confused a bit with the update when it came to Nigeria. The % changed for everyone, but it is YOUR video that gave better insight as to why. Many of us had an increase in DNA from the Benin and Togo from within the Nigeria region, and our Nigeria percentage changed as well. Now I know that the Empire of Benin was right there and that is how many of us here have a percentage of Benin. Thanks so much as we still are trying to learn so much about our own history that wasn’t taught at all in the USA. We are on our own learning it.Much love. This video really helped. Many of us were starting to not trust the results, but they are accurate.❤️ ( I shared the link with many)

If the regional rule had remained Western Nigeria would have been more of a beacon right now. Awolowo engineered free education and all the things these elders were talking about. We are literally being dragged down, even without oil, we're fine.

exactly my point, i am from the niger delta, that region that responsible for the entity called nigeria today, used to be very peaceful, until the hawks from other region hijacked the oil, caused division amongst niger deltans, if restructured, we will peace and grow beyond our imagination.

Yes. Nigeria should be celebrated but with a focus on "how do we get better" What have we learnt from our actions in the past? an appreciation of both the past and the present compatriots..... no matter how little their contributions were/is and gathering some motivation from that AND on the reality which is...at every point in time (of which now is no exception), the present and future of Nigeria depends on the efforts of those present.. What can I contribute to Nigeria as an individual?. Let's shift our paradigm from 'who caused what' to "what can I do?', doing it and expanding to what can we do? A shift in our mindset of government as the leaders and only initiators of change to an understanding that everyone of us is a leader and can change something that would make a little part of Nigeria better. and finally accepting truthfully that we all including myself are part of the problems of Nigeria for as long as we do not do something in our already God-given abilities to fix Nigeria.

Flora shaw didn’t discover Nigeria. The Name Nigeria has been in existence before the British came to nigeria. The name nigeria was first called by the Niger republic when they are trading with norther Nigeria. Southern Nigeria where the igbo were trading art. During that period river Niger was very big it stretches from southern Nigeria up to Niger republic. What flora shaw did was to put the name Nigeria together and it was documented. She didn’t discover the name Nigeria. Okay if she discover the name so what was the name Nigeria was bearing before British settlements?

Nigerians are enemies of their own progress. Just take a minute to read these comments from a neutral stand point and you can see the self hate in between the lines. How is anything going to get better when the people outside the country bash their own country. Now how will the country scale to the capacity we all know it can be when the people inside the country have self hate. The next generation needs to learn how to love. Please love

Independence day should be celebrated by reflecting on the initial vision of the founding fathers and assessing our current state. We weren't as free as we are today, to forge a desirable future before independence. It's just that we have continually not exploited our chances well enough to bring us collective pride. That in my opinion, should be the challenge.

Celebrating Nigeria independent, there is any independent in Nigeria, is celebrating fulani herds men killing and taking over communities at benue and plateau. Is celebrating poverty, bad roads, blackouts, hunger, is celebrating oligarchy, is celebrating anarchy, is celebrating tyranny and tyrants, is celebrating poor education system, etc

Nigeria was a title labeled on to a collection of people with different cultures by the white man. If you really want to accept that label then you guys need to seat down on a round table, come up white a constitution and a system of government that takes into account cultural diversity.

Battabox, I am a fan of your content, however I have noticed a trend in your videos- generally speaking there seems to be a strong anti north agenda. As a whole most people seem to think Nigerian is an Igbo or yourba person, the north gets no mention at all and I’m curious as to why that is? I strongly believe it’s important to celebrate all the beautiful cultures of Nigeria as a whole and leave tribalism in the past. It does not help anyone at all. I ask of you, can you make an effort to provide more diverse content?

The 'most fantastically corrupt country', number one in the world corruption index in 2017. The so called one Nigeria where hausa fulanis feel that they're born to rule Nigeria and no one else, as such given themselves privileges over others. A tribalistic country where the tribalistic leader Buhari sends his military troops to massacre and abduct unarmed people who're agitating for secession from Nigeria where they're being besieged, marginalised, abduct and massacred by hausa fulani, mostly in Biafraland with an eviction notice to leave northern states, of which the so called president turns a blind eye. Yet mentally enslaved and people with biased mind still celebrate independence day on 1st of October, a cursed day indeed.Divide the contraption called Nigeria or continue to suffer from the consequences of 58 years most unhappy wedlock. Happy cursed day to all Nigeria!..God bless Biafra.

Justice, fairness and equity were lost to quotas - a euphemism for mediocrity. Excellence is not recognized. Those who played by the rule became a mockery of all. The result is what we see today. If we want a change, we should go back to basis, and play by the rule. There is no short cut, take it or leave it.
