Well, it _is_ all a bit strange but the Wii simply got nothing while a game like Endless Ocean is still a Quality piece thats a better 3rd party offering than nearly every single Wii _and_ Wii U game. And Luigi 2 HD etc are still treats that the Wii U especially came no where near close to matching what with Twilight Princess HD being so underwhelming (not in those now infamous Wii U tech demo visuals.) I mean yes the wait's a bit painful but as long as the next console is BC Nintendo will be no where near close to messing up again.

The patience for Metroid Prime 4 is well beyond long gone at this point, I also think a new 2D Zelda game is overdue, they should also consider a Donkey Kong Country Returns 3.

Agree. Nintendo could opt for the next platform's introduction to be held as a historical celebration for the entire community, and at a time when it's least anticipated. The element of surprise should be in their favor at the time of reveal

It does feel pretty lackluster this year. Probably because they had such great games last year and I thought this year would be the perfect year to release switch 2 with so much hype and momentum! I think all these behaviors and logic point to one thing. The overall silence on the new console, the big sales on their digital store, a bare minimum effort on the 1st party release schedule, and news that they’re approaching DS/PS2 sales & the coveted “bestselling console of all time” rank mean that they’re preparing a VERY exciting launch for their next console… but want to push as many Switch sales as possible in the meanwhile. It’s a balancing act to prevent cannabalizing Switch console sales to hopefully cross that “bestselling” finish line. A single official word on the next console will immediately result in a drop in possible Switch sales. It sucks for fans to be in this limbo, but I don’t think there’re many more complicated factors than what I mentioned. The weak yen & larger economic trends are impactful, but since there’s no guarantee that things’ll improve on those fronts, they probably don’t affect this basic gambit. If the height of the tide or weather cannot be controlled or predicted, ships still have to navigate. Fans will forget about their negative feels once they’re holding a Switch 2.

I am right there with you. Nintendo may have something amazing comming with the Switch 2; but I am really annoyed with their dragging their feet about it. They pretty much have the market right now; so there is no need for this dramatic long pause; unless they realized they messed up behind the scenes about not having backwards compatiblity and are now scrambling to not only add it, but to make it a STRONG selling point feature with upgraded performance.

Nintendo is taking too long to release the switch 2, by the time they release it on 2025 it would be only a year before Microsoft release their next gen console if they launch it in 2026 and we may see the PS6 in 2027 making the switch 2 a generation behind just like the Wii U was when the ps4/xbox one were out

Nintendo scheduled an Earnings Release for the fiscal year that ended 31st March 2024 on the 7th of May 2024. It will be likely to expect a Nintendo Direct around that timeframe.

I feel like Nintendo missed the ball by not releasing Mario Odyssey 2 similar to how they did TotK for Zelda. I hope the switch will atleats get a good MP2 remastered now for the fillerphase between now and the Switch 2 or whatever it will be called. At this point I hope they release MP4 on Switch 2.

I think their silence makes sense until June comes around, then I think we'll get a general direct maybe even a mini general direct that showcases the last main Switch titkes: Metroid Prime 4 along with maybe Fire Emblem remake + few 3rd party titles. After that it's gonna be all about their next system.

I don’t think it’s concerning, because they did say they would be having other events for demos and what not. Also historically, in transition years, Gamescom for Nintendo is dedicated to the outgoing generation and Europe-specific releases. Now, just for sake of argument, let’s say there are still third party releases coming to the Switch that we don’t know about. The third party companies can have their own Gamescom presentation and Nintendo doesn’t have to worry about paying for space and what not. And if Nintendo has a General Direct in May, with everything being a worldwide release and no Europe-specific revisions, again Gamescom isn’t as important. Nintendo Live events could cost less and offer more control over demos and what not. Say they also tease Switch 2 in June, are planning the big blowout reveal to be the September Direct, and any part of the launch slate is cross-gen. Nintendo Live events to celebrate Switch’s last year and start marketing Switch 2 in September/October would still make more sense, offer more control, and cost less taking part in Gamescom. And Nintendo of Europe and Nintendo of UK both referenced holding other events that would make Gamescom make less sense for them.

I agree. What was said about keeping the Gamecube a secret, definetly applies with the Switch 2; especially in the face of all the hybrid PCs comming out. I tell ya; if the Switch 2 fails to bring good backwards compatiblity, keep the hybrid form factor and be on par with at leat the Steam Deck or PS4 Pro; then I will buy what ever I deem the best hybrid PC and not look back to Nintendo at all.

I think we overreact when things aren't moving as fast as we want. Nintendo is keeping everything quiet most likely so nothing will leak. If the new system is coming out next year, pretty confident it is, then we will hear something about in May or June. Everyone needs to keep calm, go touch some grass, and be surprised when it is announced cause stressing about this is waste of energy.

Personally I found the switch era exhausting and samey. Open world this pointless fetch quest that. There have been some good ones but I'm just on open world burnout. I hope switch 2 tones it down and stops relying on open world all the time.

Other than the February Direct being a Partner Direct, Nintendo's been following their basic playbook for events. (Even in the Partner Direct, they announced one of their new games.) This is just what they do...but KZbinr's are really struggling to accept this. AndresRestart, I mean this as friendly as possible, use this slow time to cultivate a wider audience. The rumor mongering can only be recycled so many times. I've already dropped Nintendo Prime because his content got too redundant. And while other types of videos may not get the clicks now, they do help get new eyes on your content. So that when the Switch 2 is finally unveiled you'll be in a better position.

As for rumors, fans are passionate, you will always get this especially during lean times, why does content always have to follow the flow of the Fountain? I think nintendo is watching the waters this year, the econmy currently is crap and the confidence of gamers is broken with the industry, so a crysis may be coming this year, so this is not a good year to release a console. Nintendo is a more catious company and a console launch cannot have a margin of error for nintendo again and without having a back up, I mean look at microsoft and sony, technically sony is dong "well" but they are still losing billions because the economy and their crappy descisions.

I will admit the last few directs have been a little light, but they've still been having directs. And even an indirect in April the way there was today has been consistent if you look at past April's.

My guess, not an earth-shattering one, is they are saving the big game reveals for a Switch 2 reveal. Better to get the hype machine in full force showing a wide variety of games. If the Switch 2 is similar to Switch in concept, which everyone expects, they don't need to introduce the console gimmick. The original reveal was hype for the system but a weird way to to show a new 3D mario game. Also, Kit and Krysta have mentioned that it isn't a large staff at NOA so they can only do so much. I'm guessing they are putting their resources into preparing for the Switch 2 marketing push. Since Nintendo's eggs are in one system's basket, they can't afford for it to fail. The Brazilian leaker seems to have been correct about the Indie showcase, and iirc, they said Switch would be revealed in June. We'll likely hear something at the investors' meeting, too. News will have to start happening soon!

We've gotten used to always know what's coming in the gaming industry, because companies are always letting us know what's next. And Nintendo seems to have gone a different way of announcing what's next. I think we need to be concerned if after the launch of Luigi' Mansion 2 port, we don't get news.
