Is NYC dead forever? I asked 13 of my friends and fellow NYC KZbinrs who stayed and left New York if it is really dead, is NYC dangerous and when it will come back? Please subscribe to my channel and all of their channels/Instagrams linked below in order of appearance. I am also linking below the book I mentioned and the original articles at the end. Comment below what you think and when you think it will all come back?
The book I mentioned of essays of famous people on loving and leaving New York: amzn.to/36tsMDf

I think it's not a question of dead or alive, it simply has changed, as every single city in the world. Corona has made us all change. However, this city is still shining, as always it will.

Teyonna is right on what "dead" means because to us tourists it would depend on the amount of people in Times Square but to residents life goes on even when the visitors leave, so it can't be dead.

Haven't fully listened to the video, working while listening haha.. but had to comment around the 1:53 mark. As was said, from outsiders perspective the glits and glam of new york definitely has changed, but the way I see it, it's changing with the times. That's why I love your videos so much, Jennifer. It shows how the big city is changing and I love it. NYC is still in my list of cities to visit. I believe it was your video or might be actions or here be barr where a festival of different cultures was being celebrated with all types of food and music. I definitely want to go to all of the ice cream places you've been to and the pizza places, the parks and so many more places to see. To me NYC will always be a beautiful city with so many activities for tourists to see and partake in. Now back to listening to the video and also back to work haha. Thank you so much for the content, Jennifer and also a big thank you to all the content creators with collaborated with you in this video.

I'm happy it's finally dead so we can all move on with our lives without haters staring at NYC hoping it to die. I also noticed most people who "objectively analyzed" that NYC is going to die are businesspeople and real estate agents (rich and those who serve the rich). That might tell you part of the bias.

I was actually supposed to come last week but my flight got canceled! 😭😭 Turns out JetBlue isn’t even flying out of Portland anymore. Kind of crazy considering Portland consistently is rated best US airport 🤷🏻‍♀️ But I cannot wait to visit again, especially with the museums being back open. One thing my husband is concerned about is the police (or lack of). I told him I hadn’t heard from any of my NY people reporting about a raise in crime and lack of police but this is what he hears from his news sources. But does acknowledge that it could be similar to what we’re experiencing in Portland with the protests and “riots” being literally only for a couple hours at night time and within a two block radius but the media blowing it up. Thanks for enlightening us on that situation because we’re desperate to get back!

Good perspective. Good channel too. You ought to round up some traveltuber friends and do some cheap eats/street food tours in the outer boroughs (sort of like you do in your "REAL Little Italy in New York" vid)...would give broke tourists (like myself) a low down on cheap yet tasty subway-accessible places. A food crawl through roosevelt avenue in queens would be pretty cool.

I look forward to the new, improved NYC in the future. 🙂 (I used to visit a couple times every month for the clubs in Brooklyn and/or dinner Meetups in Manhattan, and hope to resume next year. Once masks aren’t required, that is. No fun with masks!) But as far as the tourists from other states & other countries... They’d *LOVE* to visit right now while it’s quiet and empty but they *WON’T:* If they planned their 2-week vacation in NYC, they’d be forced to quarantine in isolation the entire time in their hotel room! Nobody is going to waste their whole vacation isolated in the same hotel room 24/7. I mean 24/14. 😄 And so, *due to the NYC/NY state politicians... the tourists won’t be allowed to return to the city any time soon.* Unfortunately the politicians in this area (Tri-state region) will need to be replaced first, and only then can tourism return to the NYC area. 🙄

NYC is not dead at all. NYC is pretty much akin to a sick involent patient who was once a strong healthy person before getting sick. I.E. a couple of years ago I was a home health aid taking care of sick patients in their homes. Back in 2002 I was taking care of a sick patient who was able to walk a little bit but not too much and my job at that time as a home health aid was to ensure my patients health and helping him regain his health back in a gradual process by making sure he takes his medication regularly and fervently on a daily basis and take him outside and do the walking exercise with my sick patient until when he gradually recuperates from the shortcomings of his health every single day for 3 months until he fully recovered from his ailments and he was able to resume back to work in perfect health again. I on the other hand went on to another case and helped out other sick patients at that time. So it's pretty much the exact same thing with NYC that it became a very very sick patient since March of this year and now it's going through its recovery phase and gradually little by little NYC is getting back to together in regaining its perfect health

Interesting video I never ever thought of NY as being dead. I’m sure it will bounce back. I’ve noticed on Michigan Ave in Chicago they’re are more people walking around. Starting today in Chicago restaurants can go to 40 percent capacity. Bars can stay till 1:30am. Bars that have no food service can reopen. Gyms can have classes with 15 people in them. Why because the city needs money.

New York City dead? If you look at the surface you may be wondering if that's true. Homelessness, poverty, unemployment, drugs, crime, violence, etc. But if you look at history you'll realize that New York City went to Hell and back several times. Look at the riots back in the late1960s, it was total devastation, but New York stook back on its feet. We had blackout in 1977, I was there when it happened and it was absolute chaos. We had the Son of Sam, we had some of the toughest gangs in the world and these gangs literally killed each other for decades. But, we prevailed once again. We nearly declaired bankruptcy back in 1977 and 1978, but we managed to overcome! New York had the worst blizzards in 1977 ad 1978 and we managed to move on with our lives. We had crack ravaging our youth along with AIDS that took away so many lives it changd the overall population. New York was the only city in America where we had five La Cosa Nostra Families (Gambino, Genovese, Lucchese, Columbo, and Bananno) instead of only one and all five of these famillies had more influence than anyone else in organized crime. They reigned unchallenged for a century! Not to mention that we also experienced other sophisticated syndicates from Chinese, Russian, Jamaican, Domenican, Puerto Rican, Irish, Polish, African American, South American, etc., and yet; we're still alive and well. We had Hurricaine Sandy that pulverized us with floods we never saw before, yet we're alive and well. We had the rough 1990s for which crime and drugs ran wild in the five buroughs and yet we're still here and thriving. New York went through the worst terror attack in American history when 9/11 occurred, and there were numerous terror attemps, which were all foiled before it could happen. We went through the recession of 2008, which New York was at the center of this problem. Now we have COVID-19, which is another challenge, but we will prevail just like we done before.

I am worried about Jennifer. She may have become another victim of the pandemic. So many in NYC have not been able to make a go of it financially.

Not a death but a rebirth, more favorable to the average working class, a good thing.

Detroit is alive like the living dead. NYC will follow quickly when entitlements cannot be met. Enjoy your NYC bubble. Like the core of New York culture, pass performance is no indicator of future success.

That was a great video. Excellent work. Also Jerry Seinfeld said Covid 19 is like the anthill after a giant foot kicked it over, everybody picks up the crumbs and pulls it back together.
