With Nick Wilson back, he and Spencer German discuss the pressures of Ohio State being considered a "superteam," similar to Michigan last season. The guys discuss Quinshon Judkins being selected as the College Football 25 cover athlete from Ohio State. Did they choose the right Buckeye? They also discuss in the new look Big Ten who is Ohio State's second biggest rival?

Love to hear sane sports hosts. As a Duck alumnus, if we lose to Ohio State, oh well. If we lose to USC and UW, those games piss me off. It will take a lot of back and forth (wins and losses) to have Ohio State in the same hatred as the Fuskies and Trojans.

As a Duck fan , I see Oregons relationship to Ohio State and Michigan being like their past relationship/ rivalry with Utah.... always a tough matchup, great games, lots of back and forth, but still, a friendly rivalry. Lots of mutual respect.

Oregon will never be Ohio State rival, because they will not play them every year. Unless the BIG10 makes it happen in schedule. Unless they play in CCG all the time, that’s doubtful. Washington and U$C are the real rivals no matter what. Both those programs just annoy us DUCK FANS.

Ohio St. deserves the respect, they've earned it. It's always tough to play them and it's always a big deal to beat them. I think Oregon can play and beat anyone in the country right now. But the Ducks still have to bring home a Natty in order to be on Ohio St.'s prestige level, as progrum. I don't look at Oregon vs Ohio St. as a rivalry though. The fan hatred levels aren't high enough yet. Lol

USC fan here. Look forward to being in the Big10. I agree in year one Oregon is the most ready to compete with Michigan and Ohio State. But I do think Lincoln Riley is used to winning and won’t be satisfied with being a mid tier team. It may not be this year but as long as Riley is the coach he’s really going to be pushing to be a top 3 team in the conference. If you just look at the AD and coaching staff it’s a good indicator of how much the school is invested in football. Riley is a highly paid coach and the new defensive staff cost a ton of money as well. With that financial investment the expectation is to compete for conference championships and the playoffs

I live in Eugene. And I don't understand the duck hype heading into the big ten. They will be solid. But they still have transition pains to go through. New conference with COMPLETELY different style of play. And needing to replace an almost Heisman QB. They will have issues the first year.
@xero4158

Oregon will have the best OL the B1G, and possibly the nation. Plus Jordan James will start after running for over 700 yards at 7 yards per carry last year. Every projected starter on the DL is expected to have an NFL future. Jubbar Muhammed could be running for the best Corner in CFB. Evan Stewart has 1st-round grades, and Tez returns following a 1000 yard season. And of course there is Dillon Gabriel, who currently has better Hiesman odds than Bo Nix did at the start of last year.
@jdchatelain222

@@xero4158 They have athletes no doubt. My only thing is the style of play week in and week out is like playing on a different planet. The slow burning physical style of play will be a problem come November and December. And while im a big fan of the OK kid Dillan. He's not on the level Bo Nix was playing at at the end of the year. Heisman level players are from a percentage stand point not a given year in and year out. I could be wrong of course but that is lot of changing landscapes and elements in the first year have to be taken into account. With that being said OR is best equipped to do well in the first year in the big ten Vs WA, UCLA and USC.

@@jdchatelain222 If Cristobal were still the coach I would agree, but Lanning comes from the Nick Saban & Kirby Smart bloodline. He oversaw one of the most physically imposing defenses in the history of the sport at Georgia. If you're a no-life like me and paid close attention, its evident how much Lanning has sold out on embracing physicality in the culture over the course of three years. Just look at the spring games. Ohio State was basically doing two-hand touch. Oregon was doing full contact and has been throughout practice. Lanning said somewhere he was willing to risk players getting hurt in practice if it meant the team would be harder and more physical. There is also the defensive scheme. Lanning and Lupoi have designed the defense to be extremely strong against the run, which is the only thing B1G teams know how to do. They have a very good secondary now against a remarkably bad conference at throwing the ball, allowing them to sellout against the run. I'm not sure how bad you expect Oregon to struggle, but realistically, the only somewhat probable losses are Ohio State and Michigan. As for everybody else, Oregon has them completely outclassed with talent & depth and is at minimum their equal in physicality.
@jdchatelain222
@jdchatelain222 28 күн бұрын
@@xero4158 Great breakdown my man!! I cant answer that as far as how bad they will be. They wont be bad, lol. Lanning is a great coach! And on paper Oregon is on the level of OSU and Mich as far as raw talent. So that will propel them into being one of the better teams. Or formidable teams in the big ten. What I mean as far as week in and week out games of that style of play in that kind of climate. Offensive Talent can almost be neutralized. Everyone plays physical D in big ten. Ironically OSU is one of the less physical teams. The pace is slowed down on purpose from 100 plays a game to more like 60 or 70. So OR having a great D will not be the reason they succeed. I think it will be the understanding of being slow and very efficient with their offense and being precise. Not flashy. Flash doesnt seem to work in the big ten. OR will have a good O line but they wont be the best in the conference. So by Nov and Dec what I think will determine if OR is having a good season will be based on their offensive adjustments as the year progresses. And of course injuries and depth.

Nope. After a successful '24-'26 fb season, 'climber' Lanning will be on the splashy-hire short list of big donors at elite-tier 'bag' universities, eg, your tOSU, or more likely at UF or Mia-Fla. Other potential splash-hires for the above-mentioned, elite-tier 'bag' progrums? Kiffin & Fisch. Fisch, in a '22 interview, at Ariz, said Fla is his (Jedd's) "Dream job." Can tell by the vibez, between Kiffin & the Ole Miss admin, that a fb hc change at Oxford will happen sooner, not later. Watch the following hc spaces, late '24 cfb season: 1-UF, 2-Ole Miss, (and maybe[?]) 3-Ohio State?

You must be a beev if you honestly think Oregon's true rival isn't UW. Maybe the beevs get thrown a bone every year and get blasted in week one or two, but if it goes away, meh. If ASU and OSU 's presidents didn't blindly follow Larry Scott the PAC wouldn't have imploded, you only have yourselves to blame.

Oregon for sure. You guys are giving USC too much credit. They don't have a defense or any line play on both sides of the ball. They went to one Rose Bowl lately, with Darnold. They also can't recruit which is never thought I'd say always watching USC get whoever they wanted in the past. The Huskies lost everyone, literally, and UCLA is in full blown rebuilding mode. Don't forget Oregon walked into the shoe without their best player, a meat head coach, and a TE that could kinda throw playing QB and led wire to wire.
