I think he will come through. He is a kid. Those bad tendencies will be cleaned out or he will get shipped out. I have faith in this coaching team to develop and nurture a young talent. The defensive part is lacking for sure. He is a better one on one defender but his space awareness is not there but then that is why you have coaches. You can't teach size, speed, skill and desire. The rest can get ironed out. He is not the finished product and the money is a tad too much but he will come through for us. As an African, I love having some bad ass Africans in our team. Good morning. My problem is that we want to sell Garnacho because they said we have no money. So if we have no money, why are they going for dorgu who is costing more than Alvara Carrera?
@Bloodnok4911 күн бұрын
It depends partly if Alvaro now wants to return - the last recent report I read suggested he was happy where he is. Accordingly, if that report was true, Utd would be better off waiting for the longer summer window, and then trigger the buy-back and give themselves enough time to selll him on. Even better ofc, is if Alvaro were to be sold anyway by Benfica in the summer, so that Utd can just sit back and share in the sell-on

Good analysis. I think Dorgu would be a good signing. He could become an Alphonso Davies type of profile for United. With Canada he plays as a LW/RW at Bayern he’s a LB/LWB. @mercurialblonde11 күн бұрын
What I don't like about your analysis here is that you are cherry picking moments from a limited number of games without respect to game state to build a narrative. For example, in one of the clips you wanted him to take a potential yellow or red card when they were down 3-1 in the 85th minute when he is Lecce's most important player. You also take him to task for not tracking back in a few instances--but I don't actually know if the manager wanted him to track back in those instances--sometimes players are instructed to stay up the pitch for the counter. The other thing I think your analysis lacked is that we are getting him for a wingback position in an Amorim system. Wingbacks in Amorim's system are not prized for their 1v1 defending when we are in a back 5--they are prized for pressing. So I would have liked to see analysis on his ability to step up in a press and make interceptions--not how he defends as a fullback--a position we don't even have currently. For any potential wingback we are looking at the key metrics need to be interceptions, crosses, ball carrying, and goals. Those are the most important areas in an Amorim wingback. The least important are: passing, and 1v1 duels. We aren't looking for a fullback that can attack. We are looking for a winger that can defend slightly. When we need pure defense we will just play Mazroui or Dalot at wingback.

Spending 40M on Dorgu already makes it difficult to turn it into a great signing, because of all the expectations from a Man United player. That aside, not wrt to the quality but wrt to "the profile", it is exactly our squad needs. Physical, quick, young, ball carrier and versatile who plays multiple positions. If he can develop more composure and tactical acumen, he could also feature as a LCB (like Dalot did against Rangers at RCB). He will be a utility player for sure, but the same would be an excellent signing if it was 25-30 M

As a wing-back you need to 1. Be an outlet and consistently be on the receiving end of progressive passes. 2. Be on the ball on the ball a lot. 3. Have high pass count & accuracy. 4. Be a good dribbler / ball carrier. 5 Be able to beat your man and deliver early whipped crosses from deep or cut-backs from the by-line. From his FBREF numbers, it doesn't look he does any of those things. Unless our scouts like him for purely his pace and physicality, I really don't see why they want him otherwise especially at the reported price.

4m player at best, but when united come knocking increase the price smh. City would have gotten him for 18m

Different analyst have different ways of looking at the player, I appreciate yours as well as the others. Your analysis covered aspects have not seen being mentioned by others, like he’s poor defensive contribution at times and a certain star boy tendency. I won’t disagree, but from the examples you showed there’s a tendency for mistakes and lack of concentration in the final 15 minutes of the game. Now the cause of these mistakes could be caused by tiredness (you can’t play in 3 positions during the same game at 20 and expect to be fresh), mental fatigue (his team being down in the scorecard and him having the pressure to be the one driving the team forward) or just pure lack of concentration and inability to understand the game (this is the biggest problem at Man United today). In my opinion based on the good things I’ve seen I’m under the impression that these mistakes are more the consequence of what’s asked of him during games and natural fatigue(physically and mental) making it difficult to be connected in the game from start to finish. He seems to be for this Lecce team what Bale was for Tottenham, he’s clearly their best player, is being played “everywhere”, and has the pressure to prove he’s the man in every game. So I’d say the bad I’ve seen from him doesn’t scary me, as it seems it’s more fruit of the context that he’s inability. I believe the coach and his team have analysed the player and understood where his strengths and weaknesses are, one thing I know from Amorim is he doesn’t usually buy players he has not analysed and seen their suitability for the team. Dorgu clearly ain’t worth 40M, I don’t defend Man United should step away from the deal but instead make an offer of something like 25M fixed(he’s real evaluation) + 15M add-ons (based on attainable objectives). I say this because in my opinion Dorgu should always be a young prospect to be developed but who can already be played and become important, and if I had the power to make things happens I would get Dorgu now and Rayan Ait Nouri in the summer (his contract will run out in 2026), both in a combined package of not more than 55/60M. For those suggesting Alvo Fernandez, I’m Portuguese, I follow the league closely, and I can tell you that he’s a very good player, but he isn’t yet the player Man United KZbin analysts are defending he is. He’s still very erratic with the ball and off the ball, physically he still struggles with players who are either fast, strong or know how to attack the space (he had the better of Yamal because Yamal is a technical winger who don’t tend to attack the space behind the left back or takes his game to the physical side), he clearly attacks better than he defends (he only learned how to defend this season), and his best attacking attributes are his pace and crosses. If I had to compare both I’d say they have different profiles, Fernandez is striving at Benfica because they played transitional football and his best games so far have been against big teams because of his ability to attack the space quickly and cross(his biggest strengths today) and he struggled in games where Benfica was playing positional football, Dorgu seems to have the ability to play in both ways and I see in him a higher ceiling, Fernandez profile is more suited to a team whom the style of play involves a lot of crossing and quick transitions or counter attacking football, like Bayern, Atlético, Real Madrid or Liverpool.
