I was never a perfectionist until my late teens. It was a trauma response and I ended up developing OCD at university.

Although there’s some far fetched comments in this video, I actually enjoyed the bite size content. Reminded me of the videos by Alain De Botton for The School of Life. PBS should do more of these

why has there been made a direction correlation between patents and innovation?
@Hak312473 жыл бұрын
There are so many more explanatory variables here I’m sure.

True, besides there are billion other factors. If you try hard, you probably can find some sort of correlation between people's haircut and innovation too.

𝗟𝗲𝘁 𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆. One day, a wise and prolific vase maker decided to separate his class into 2 groups for 1 month. 1 group was tasked with trying to make the one most perfect vase they possibly could, while group #2 was tasked with making one vase a day, no matter how bad it was. 1 month later, the wise vase maker stood in front of his pupils, and examined their vases. To the surprise of almost everyone, the last vases of group 2 were ALL BETTER than those of group 1. What does this tell you? 𝙁𝙖𝙞𝙡 𝙤𝙛𝙩𝙚𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙜𝙚𝙩 𝙗𝙚𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧.

It matters how you define either.

Well, perfectionism could be defined very simply and bluntly as the endless pursue of perfection. Being perfection unattainable, then it becomes the endlesss pursue of an unattainable characteristic thus becoming an illness that could be damaging to a person's mind and wellbeing. This pursue of perfection could be, as the video states, a competitive trait caused by the societal state. If I am perfect then I am better than the others and I will have more oportunities.

Before taking it seriously we probably need some way of measuring how much perfectionist we are, moderate or extreme. I believe that we need some perfectionism in our lives.

Perfectionism (perfectionist) only refers to the "extreme" cases, hence the name PERFECTionism. There is no "moderate perfectionism".

It definitely does. Perfectionism makes people rigid
