For the record, confidant is not a "fancy word"; don't involve other people in your low vocabulary or standards, like you're teaching people anything. Confidant is just one word that saves you wasting time in having to say "Someone you trust", because you have a reading age of over 12. If you and the other one need to learn "new words" because of incidental game content, well, most people with self awareness don't really admit that in public.

Whereas P5's palaces are impressive for the first time, but as soon as you do another playthrough, the novelty is gone.

I actually finished this game for the first time this week and saw the true end. Even though I knew about one of the major plot points in the story beforehand it still didn't subtract from how hard this game hits. Easily one of my top games of all time now. The game truly is golden.

Persona 4 is honestly my favorite game of all time. As you mentioned, every character feels like an actual person but it's almost perfect in my eyes and only thing that is really jarring for me are the dungeons simply because they feel like the same thing but with 1 difference and that's about it like for the first three dungeons its roughly the same thing until the two after where the minecraft one as you mentioned has one floor that teleports you around and a single key item to fight the boss, but because its only the one floor that does something different I would have liked to see the key item split across the floors with a different challenge or at least the same one that gets progressively tougher one as you go along and as for the one after that I don't have many complaints on it but its the final dungeon of the game that just turns into the first three again but it just forces you to go through it in one go which some people already do sometimes and it just feels lackluster for a grande finale but that's not to say that the dungeons are not unique or not pretty, I just think that there could have been more to add than just get to the top but with one challenge every so often.

The dungeon with the Pixel ascetic was supposedly a reference to the game 3d Dot Game Heroes which was in development at the same time as Persona 4 you should think about checking it out sometime the game is a huge love letter to Dragon Quest and The Legend of Zelda.

Finished the game yesterday for the first time. My first JRPG and first Persona game. Definetely worth it. I started Persona 3 FES (heavily modded) and while the 2 games use the same engine, they are completely different in feel and approach. Persona 4 is definetely more social interracion heavy with simplified battle and RPG mechanics. This makes it a perfect gateway into the series.

Definitely worth playing! I played persona 5/royal a lot of times and fell in love with the game. Wasn’t sure the previous game could hold up but gave it a go… Exceeded expectations. Combat and dungeons are much better in 5 though, I got to the point where I wanted to rush through to the end of them in 4 as they’re a little repetitive and the social rank stuff improved in 5 too. Other than that they’re comparable, I actually think I prefer the characters in 4 and the story is really great! I love the setting too, small town feel is nice. Amazing game, feel sad to leave it 😭 Maybe slightly below 5 overall but still a 10/10.

Well they're numbered I guess, but you could start with whatever entry since these stories (while in the same universe) have no interconnection with one another besides a few nods, I started with royal and when it was over I felt completely hollow, such a great game although it's way too easy even on the hardest difficulty

Persona 4 Golden, Persona 5 Royal, Persona 5 Strikers, and then if you can find a way to play Persona 3 FES, that is the ideal version of Persona 3 to play. Also you can play the other spin off games if you like the main ones. Strikers is a full fledged story so I already included it. Persona 4 Arena and Arena Ultimax are pretty fun and I had a good time playing the story mode for Persona 4 Dancing All Night as well.

I played persona 4 for the first time in 2024, and my answer is YES. So i heard about persona thanks to a friend in 2022, but tbh i didn't give a f* about persona when he told me about, and then in 2023 I was searching some games to play in the game pass (i was an xbox user back then), then I find persona 5 royal and thought "why not?" and then I started playing p5 royal, I played for about 20 hours of the game, and stopped at the end of the first palace, and one day when I tried to play p5 royal, i realized that p5 royal left the game pass, at that time i cared a little bit, but I wouldn't spend 60€ on a game, so life continued. In 2024 after p3 reload release (I already had a good pc) I saw p5 royal at 20-25€ and asked "why not?" and then in june of 2024 I bought p5 royal and in less then 1 month I played the entire game (and even got all the achievments in 142 hours) and couldn't resist so I also bought p4 golden, and that game was really perfect, as I said in my steam review "I never thought this game could be better than persona 5 royal, but this game is probably the game that made me laugh the most and that i felt really attachment with the characters, this game is a masterpiece." so I ended p4 golden with 90 hours and I also bought p3 reload, but idk why p3 reload looked a little bit boring to me, I bought the game in mid july and till now (22 of october) I did not ended the game, I'm in december tho(and I already know that the game ends in january and what happened to makoto thanks to the spoilers) but yeah, if you read all this, you're a cool person :)

Persona 4 may not necessarily need a remake, but it definitely DESERVES one. There were rumors that Persona 6 would be a semi-open world, and I think Persona 4 would be the perfect game to implement that, since it's set in a small town. I would love to have an explorable Junes, and an implementation of what you can do indoors like they did with the dorm in Persona 3 Reload, etc. It's the game with the best cast by far, and with the best social links. The only thing about the game that has aged poorly is the combat gameplay and the dungeons, but those separate worlds for each character inside the TV dimension have a lot of potential to be almost like the Palaces from P5. I hope the main project after Persona 6 is the remake of this amazing game.

@@mizzix The "baton pass" is the mechanic that makes current combats more dynamic, but both Persona 5 and 3 Reload have improved combat speed compared to previous games, and this makes everything even more dynamic. Not to mention the mechanics of the characters acting as navigators, which have been much better since 5. Dungeons are also a factor related to combat, and the dungeons in Persona 4 are hideous, and if they were bad back then, it's even worse today.

Absolutely worth it. Persona 5 is amazing, and overall a step above. But it doesn't touch the bonds you build with your characters in 4. The stories are much more intimate and engaging. You really get attached to the characters before the game is over. For example, when you first see Nanako, you think it's just to be an annoying little kid character. By the time you get through her arc, you want to give her a bit ol' squish every time you come home. And once you get past that the gameplay is a bit of a downgrade from 5, you forget all about it, and get immersed in the story. Finally, it's downright groundbreaking for its time. What other games were exploring homosexuality, and gender identity in 2008? Some of the elements might be seen as offensive today. But if one can get over themselves to see past it, the story of discovery for Kanji and Naoto are fantastic.

i legit got spoiled the true killer but i feel like it didn’t really ruin the experience because the story is mostly about interacting with your friends and specific story beats so i encourage you to try it even if you’ve had it spoiled like me. it’s overall a pretty small portion of the enjoyment you’ll get out of the story and you’ll probably like the game regardless. also how the f did this game get me to care about ALL of the party members like jesus that never happens in an rpg

P5 was my first game, I got the platinum for the base and royal version, 100% on strikers (I'll grind to 99 for the plat eventually, I promise.) and I even got the plat on the dancing game. I'm playing through P4 for the first time this week, and I can't stop. I check in on Nanako every night, not much changes until a story beat happens, but a fictional characters well-being matters more to me than the actual gameplay. P5 had good characters, but P4 is filled with gaming icons.

one thing I love about p4 is how much it reminds me of jojo part 4 (my favorite jojo part), the way serious and dark shit happens but there's also plenty of fun moments, and an overall lighter tone than the rests of their respective series, of course the obvious, how they are both about a murder mystery in a small town, how new characters appear and quickly become friends or allies, idk, just the whole vibe feels really similar to me and I love it a lot

To say Persona 4 blows 99% of modern games out of the water is ridiculous. Persona 4 is one of the weakest Persona games ever. Way too much fan service. The characters and music aren't as good as Persona 3 or 5 and all the Yakuza games. Also the combat is dumbed down. You can't equip the party as much compared to persona 3 and 5
