Gonna try him out in Thanos since he has no minimum cost text I mean, you could say that Mr. Negative has to be played early but he does alright

I’ve been loving Phastos in my Mr. Negative deck, after Ravonna-Mr. Negative on turns 2 & 3.

phastos will be better in arishem decks i believe. then you can play him on turn 2. okoye turn 1 phastos turn 2 then hopefully the buffs you get can help make up for the random cards you are getting throughout the rest of the game.

@ipsumlorem3076 oh im not beliving even that will be good. I just realling think he would be a better card at 2 cost so arish3m kinda makes him better in that regard. Turn 3 you just got so much better plays you could make and turn 4 and 5 hes substantially worse. 6 hes just stats which there are way better and cheaper cards that could do that. Arishem is my hope for him but very very small hope

Good stuff, Guest. Love the part in Zoo, where you're talking about taking SG out for Phastos. Doing that for every existing deck you consider putting in a new card for would be kewl.

I just made a Phastos deck , as core card . It involvs ( Galactus , forge , shaw , abs , surf , nimrod , shuri ) and it's a BIG W for me ... Already top 2.000 with over 58% WR . 1.5 cubes per game . 😮

I think he's going to be a great card. He's just like the other cards like electro corvus negative etc. it feels bad when drawn late but we still play their decks. That -1 cost can be broken.

I’m trying Phastos in the CB Doc Ock deck. You’re running Magik in there naturally for the extra turn of benefit. Less one cost could help a Thena package with CB-Doc.

Yes, he is only good at turn 3 or 4. But that's not a problem. If you draw him early, good, play him on turn 3. If you don't, just don't play it. Hope Summers is just like that, we don't play her at turn 5, and she's still an amazing card because she is worth it when played early.

I don’t understand why every content creator is confused by this card. +2 power and -1 cost are both great effects! Even if you play him on turn 4 he’s essentially a 1/3, a 2/5, or a 3/7, and there’s a 50% chance you see him before that! As to the random effect, both are good - is Pixie bad because of her randomness? How about Nico? They can both actually hose you in certain scenarios. And the “you need to draw him by turn 3 so he’s bad” argument…..anyone heard of Mobius?? How good is Deadpool if you draw him on turn 4 or later? And 50% of games is a LOT of games that you’ll have him to maximum effect. You know, most games you won’t draw your entire deck, but does that make the cards you didn’t draw bad cards? People are really overthinking this.

Phastos is tough, cause he’s arguably one of the best turn 3 plays in the game, but if you don’t have him early hes reallyyy bad. Hes a higher cost Okoye, and she’s been deemed bad for the longest time at a 2-Cost!

Plural of ”Phastos" depends if we're adapting to English, which would be "Phastoses" like "kisses". Otherwise, if we want to hew to the pattern of the original language, we'd need to know more info. It is intended by Marvel to be related to the Greek god Ήφαιστος (Latinized as Haphaestus but better known as Vulcan), which would make the Greek plural Haphaistoi or the Latin Haphaesti. But as the Eternals are meant to be the origin of many myths rather than being the embodiment of them (in contrast to, say, Marvel's Hercules and Thor, who basically walk straight out of ancient mythology as written), we are supposed to take the Greek god's name as a "corrupted" version of his true name (Phastos), localized for Greece. TL;DR: go with "Phastoses" (short e). 😂

Wait… if phastos decreases the cost of my 3 cost cards in a surfer deck, the cards will still be boosted by surfer? Or not because they are now 2 cost cards?

They just cost less, same as Sera. "X-cost" refers to base cost, regardless of how much you paid for them.

Like any other card when it comes onto the board. They all go to “base” cost so surfer would be viable still
