Erm actually I’d like to disagree with your point on the art direction 🤓☝️ Jk jk jk, although the reason why is the environments are bland and boring because it suits the direction the game is going for. You see these environments are filled to the brim with humans, who live in comfortable lives and don’t do anything special. All they do is just work and then sleep, hell when the game was promoting it’s character feature videos and when it got to the Humans, it said “goal, work until you’re 40” something like that. But here is something genius, the Rabbids contradict all of that. They contradict the boring slab the humans are, they’re colorful, energetic and have a messy cartoony art style. You can see it in the video menu, the save select option. The way they paint arrows to guide you to around the place or to the bathroom. As well as the music thing, the Rabbids play Eastern European music, more specifically Romanian, this helps differentiate the humans and the rabbids as well, the slow pace of bubamara goes well with you inflating the bubble bed with Barney of going rooftop to rooftop. And the energetic music of Penrita goes hand in hand with you combating the verminators, and this contrasts with the chill smooth music that the humans listen too. And here is something interesting here, this is intentional. An interview with one of the developers of the game at E3, the developer said “The game is an allegory for the internal debates we have with ourselves each time we make a decision ; We created the humans as the exact opposite of the Rabbids. The humans in rabbids go home mull over all their decisions, their emotions in-check. Their organs have atrophied. They have nearly forgotten that they have a body or a heart, and can barely handle those. The Rabbids represent emotions pushed to the extreme.” As I have stated about the art styles and music that fit the humans and rabbids have this does a fantastic job for this.
