Is RAGUSA the most UNDERRATED nation in EU4?

EU4 Ragusa is one of the least played nations in EU4, which is a shame because it's also one of the most interesting! You might recall my EU4 Theodoro and EU4 Athens campagins, this one is up there in terms of difficulty! We have to contend with EU4 Ottomans.. but at least we restore Byzantium! I'll warn you, there's coalitions and more in this Ragusa run - you could even call it an EU4 guide!

Fun Fact: Since you released the Byzantines as a vassal, you can spend favors with the ottomans to get them to retur5n Byzantine Cores. It'll be expensive Favor-wise, but could be worth it

An easy way to fight ottomans as byzantium without brekaing the truce is to immediately attack Ragusa after the first war, since Ottomans gurantee them from the start of the game.

Trapping soldiers on islands is the best stra you can literally do I did that once as the Mamluks. The entire 42k Ottoman army was trapped on Naxos after I yeeted their weakened navy. When they peaced with venice, their whole army was disbanded

Ragusa now known as Dubrovnik was one of the most important cities on the Adriatic. Fun fact the city was the main filming location for King's Landing in the GOT tv show.

I'd recommend Croatia aswell. They have the same missions, are bigger and in a better position. You start as a PU under Hungary, so you can ask their rivals to support independence, making them your allies after who will help you take on the Ottomans. I got supported by Poland, Aragon and Bohemia and I swallowed the Balkans with their help.

make sure to build favors with ottomans so you can ask them for byzantine cores! but also make sure not to cut off their territory by demanding the cores. if a nation has two blobs of land that are disconnected they'll desire the land thats making them disconnected and thatll make them haaaate you may not be an issue in these coastal areas tho cause that might constitute as a connection

its probably better to mothball forts you cant afford then delete them, it will cost about 200 ducats to get any of those back in the long run, and theyre quite useful to prevent your lands from being totally overrun and your economy tanking in times of need

Probably posted before, but you can only have a max of 10 provinces to form Dalmatia. You lost that opportunity when you annexed Bosnia. You also should have co-beligerented Wallachia if you wanted to vassalize them, as they typically only ally the one nation early on, but could be guaranteed by the ottomans. (Vassals don't count towards the maximum province count to form Dalmatia) I usually wait for what the Ottomans do after that. If they attack byz, then i rush for Kosovo for the gold mine. If they attack Albania, then I rush for the Venetian provinces i need for Dalmatia. Going for that Naples territory was really ballsy, but I can't say I am surprised. Also forming Croatia will force your republic into a monarchy if you are into that.
