He won’t because he works for the Uniparty. And if he did, he would edit in a way that wasn’t a hit job - which this clearly was. RFK doesn’t speak in sound bites, so trying to condense his answers on a dozen questions in 6 minutes with 4 minutes of editorializing is impossible. What is possible in that time is a hit piece - which is what Stossel did here.

Price of college went through the roof once the government got involved and had guaranteed low interest loans. There is no logical reason to think it wouldnt happen again if done in the housing sector.
@agwaters
@agwaters 4 ай бұрын
It already happened with the housing sector under George Bush. " Everybody deserves a home. It's the American dream" artificially low interest rates from Fannie Mae and mortgage-backed securities to bundle. The more risky loans together to "reduce risk". Which resulted in The housing bubble, then massive foreclosures, then the pop and the financial crisis. Most of us are terribly historians. If we would learn from the past, we'd make better decisions in the present. But we're like kids and we want what we want and we don't want to be told no even by ourselves.

The problem is that when things are made more accessible, demand rises, which increases the price. Economics 101. Unfortunately, in the case of education, the money has went to administration. Some of these people making millions. We have to change the incentive structure, otherwise businesses are going to do what's they're trained to do.

@@XhectorX1417 The demand will also go up if you make something for free, which in turn means more tax dollars must be spent on it to keep up with the demand. On top of that, since there is now no incentive to keep costs down, you have all sorts of waste, inefficiency and corruption, which has been the case consistently with education, health care and finances. If you had just privatized any of these industries and gotten the government completely out of setting the standards, you've have very affordable, perhaps even cheap, prices.

Stossel showed his ignorance by not understanding that the proposed 3% mortgage plan for first-time buyers contributes not a single cent to the debt. Libertarians think Blackrock getting free money to corner the housing market and giving 5 trillion taxpayer subsidies to coal and oil is free market. Kennedy is against all subsidies and against industries being allowed to externalize their cost of business. If we had a true free energy market, the cost of energy would be basically zero. 66% of primary energy is lost because we don't have a marketplace. I can't currently sell my excess energy back to the grid. Kennedy wants everyone to be able to sell energy back to the grid. That's true free market

I agree with one of the commenters - this sounds very much like a hit piece. While a lot of RFK Jr.'s points are pro-government/anti-liberty positions, they are no worse than any other candidate. He did espouse some good and pro-liberty positions, such as pulling out of Ukraine and being against forced vaccinations - both of which Stossel attacked him for. That is hardly pro-liberty on Stossel's part. Also of note, the reason some call him a nut job is because he is willing to take on the sacred cow of vaccinations. Vaccines are based on bad science and have no reason to allow them much less force people (especially vulnerable children) to take them. I wonder if Google will censor this comment because of what I just said.

This isn’t a good sampling of his positions. The thing that gets in RFK’s way is the fact he doesn’t speak in sound bite and EVERY major news outlet and legacy media mouthpiece (including, apparently, Stossel) is set on trying condense a 2 hr interview into a 6 minute clip with 3 minutes of editorializing. If Stossel has no agenda, he would post the long form and let you decide. Instead he chops up what was almost certainly a long, considerate, and detailed answer into 10 seconds of RFK speaking and 30 seconds of Stossel telling you what he said. CBS tried to do the same thing. At least they had the decency to release a 45 minute chunk of the interview a few days after their hit piece… and that 45 minute interview has people start supporting RFK because they got to see his true responses, not the hack job attempts to sound bite him (like Stossel did here).

This sound bite of RFK JR. does not do him justice, especially with the housing crisis. His position on the housing crisis is that the prices of housing is so high because of corporations such as blackrock buying up all of the single family homes and reselling them at a much higher cost than what they bought them at, and since they own about 50% of all single family homes now, they arbitrarily rose the prices of homes. His solution is to make a tax code that discourages this sort of behaviour, thus causing a surge of houses in the market to appear which will lower price as the supply of houses will be much closer to the demand of houses
@acem82
@acem82 4 ай бұрын
A 50% share of the market will *not* allow one to move prices more than a tiny amount. He wants to subsidize Americans buying houses ...which any good Economist will tell you will actually make the prices go up. It will also (obviously) lead to another housing bubble. The reason why houses are so expensive are *all* governmental, increase the money supply making the dollar less valuable, then take those dollars and use resources (and labor) to do what they want instead of allowing people in the market to determine what they want, which is housing. The dollar is worth less and there are fewer resources to do what non-governmental actors want, such as build houses. Basically, blame this all on the Federal Reserve. (And a bit more on the rest of the government for stupid regulations.) -An Economist
@eurekahope5310
@eurekahope5310 4 ай бұрын
Where are you getting the 50% number. The closest I have seen is 37%. Of that 37%, the majority of landlords are individual owners (such as a son who inherited his parents' house or a couple who bought a vacation home). I am fine with limiting or ending corporate ownership, as well as ending ownership by foreign individuals unless it is their primary dwelling. The larger problem is lack of supply and too much demand. Our population has increased dramatically with immigration in the past few years. People need places to live. And while our population has increased, government regulation makes providing more supply unattractive to builders. So unless RFJ is willing to reduce demand (deport) or increase supply (ease regulations, minimum wage, increase energy supply, etc.), more government programs will not lower the true cost of housing.

It does work. . . the problem is that no laws were put into place to protect people or stop colleges from charging absurd amounts to the students. Out of all the places that are still capitalist, colleges are one of them and the result is showing now. So either colleges wise up or they shut down. He's said he has libertarian values, he's said he's not a libertarian. He's talking about cutting agencies, subsidies, and fixing chronic health spending. It's as close as you can get without wasting your vote on a fractured libertarian party

libertarianism is a principle and consistency with that principle is what makes one libertarian. sure, there are things we do not agree on but simply saying one agrees with some libertarian ideas means nothing. Both republicans and democrats agree with a portion of libertarian policies but its the principles they fail at.

@adamanhavengarde , I certainly agree libertarianism is a very consistent philosophy and a beautiful one. Sure, when you get into the weeds of a subject, good people can disagree on both what is the best way to get there and even where does your nose begin and my right to swing my fist begin. The more difficult issue for the Libertarian Party (I been around it a long long time) has always been it's role as a political party and getting people elected or making the philosophy heard by voters. In short relevance vs purity. For me this year I'm casting my vote for Kennedy just as I changed registration for Ron Paul during those Republican primaries. Chase I'm sure is a good man and I appreciate his running as there is nothing but costs in doing so. For me however this year I will see Kennedy as heading in the right direction of liberty. The right direction he offers has an outside chance of getting us as a country not blown up both financially and literally and making it to 2028. Cutting the deficit and getting out of Ukraine are far from from being full libertarian but even I took some time to understand the full power of the philosophy. No matter who you vote for GLTU and all who walk towards more freedom.

Also cutting military budget. We shouldn’t involve ourselves with other countries affairs, but we need a strong defense. Especially after these last few decades of poor leadership

Military budget is very poorly used as is. They legitimately dropped million on research for VR goggles meant for dogs as one example. Also in the air force my father saw massive amounts of waste like flying all thier jets day and night with no further purpose than to use up jet fuel, throwing all the last years equipment away and buying everything new and so on just so the next fiscal year thier budget wouldnt be any smaller. I think a very in depth audit of every government agency is the best course of action.

He insists on a strong defense. The military has grown into a money making machine is not giving us a strong defense. It operates for its own benefit, to line the pockets of the military industrial complex. It just can’t go on like this. Our country is sinking into a debt crisis that cannot be managed and the military budget is out of control.

There is no one as honest as RFKjr. He's anti war, he's an environmental Attorney. We're all getting sick, breathing problems, our soil is dead, we need so many fertilizers to grow anything, water, we all know about water. You want lab meat? Children are becoming autistic at an alarming rate. I'm just a regular person but RFKjr is the ONE. He's an honest person. Get to know him before we lose everything we know. I'm voting for RFKjr and Nicole Shanahan. She's an expert in AI and also a brilliant Attorney.
