I think the issue is with all the talented actors out there why do this? It just makes no sense at all to return in this capacity. It would have been nice to see another talent take on this role and be given the chance to shine like RDJ has.

It makes PERFECT sense because back in 2008, before he was Ironman, RDJ first tried out to be Doctor Doom in Fantastic Four's 2008 movie.

@KennethBelliveau like I said, they'll do Demon In An Armor, and that will be the REAL Victor Van Doom, just played by a different actor because, like in the comics, Victor and Tony were roommates in college and they switched bodies and the REAL Tony is in Victor's body but doesn't remember the switch and believes he is Victor Van Doom while the REAL Doom is in Tony's body, living Tony's life. Also imagine Tom Holland's Spider-Man's reaction😂

I'm looking at it from a different angle. The talent engaged in this creation has the capability to pull it off in a way that makes sense and creates an arching villain much like Brolin pulled off. Did it have to be RDJ.....no. But if you have a chance to get him for this iconic role, it's not a complicated decisions to do it. RDJ will be challenged with not being Tony Stark and instead be Victor Von Doom. I think he can do it.

I don't think it's a miss because RDJ is Marvel's biggest actor, and it would make sense to bring him back. They can, and I think they will do the comicbook Demon In An Armor plus in 2008, when they were doing The Fantastic Four, RDJ originally tried out to be cast as Dr. Doom but obviously didn't get the part and was Ironman.

It is beyond great for RDJ. But it is still hard to swallow. It may take some time for people to get used to. But overall it will be a great cast as he is a great actor

If he is playing a Stark evil Dr doom ya that will be lame however if his playing Victor Doom it's not different then Reynolds playing a new version of Deadpool and also he plad GL, Or Brolen having played both Thanos and Cable

Kinda, Thanos and Cable were two separate franchises and companies. Same with GL and deadpool. Iron Man and Doom are in the same world. It is closer to Jason Mamoa playing Aquaman and Lobo

I understand that they figured out that the Multiverse saga was going nowhere and the kang was not what people wanted and that they needed to move away from Jonathan Majors and I’m OK with Dr. doom but if you’re gonna bring back Robert Downey Jr. bring them back as an Iron Man variant don’t do this But what’s done is done I agree with Edward and with Griffin Robert is going to be amazing. he’s going to be a great villain, but this is just a lazy copout move.
