Hello friends , a very angry commenter has brought us some extremely valuable information , not all Royal purple has the Synerlec technology this is so you can use it on cars under warranty , only the hps and other specified brands have this , however this oil is still proven to be better then average oils and competes well on dynos taking first place almost all the time .I put a link in the description for the Synerlec versions . and here it is also amzn.to/2IVVvVH

No it DOES have the Synerlec additive. What the API formula doesnt have is the high levels ( it still has some) of the Zinc/Phosphorus additives that the HPS, HMX and XPR (XPR has sky high levels of Zinc) oils have. Appreciate your support for RP but just wanted to clarify that even the API has Synerlec and no other shelf oil does.

Ummm..... Amsoil is cheaper and better, so why spend more for a less superior product? Royal Purple doesn't even get the basics right because it provides lousy lubrication at start up, which is where most engine wear comes from....
@robertsantiago3102
@robertsantiago3102 5 жыл бұрын
Amsoil is not cheaper or better. I've lived in hot Puerto Rican weather for over 20 years and here in Puerto Rico Amsoil is $12-15 a quart plus the cost of the filter wich is $10-$15. Thats over $60 for a basic 4 cylinder that uses 4 quarts. While I can get a 5 quart deal with a high performance filter for about $42. I'm not taking away any merit from Amsoil, but I've used Royal for years and it's given me great service. So I would advise you to not generalize about any topic without looking at the specifics. Cheers.

My 2007 hemi ram did not like royal purple, it used oil like crazy with this overpriced stuff, 2 quarts in 5000 miles , tried it 2 times thinking it was a fluke but I had the same results. I started using valvoline after the huge disappointment of Royal Purple and the problem went away. There are hundreds of people on line that had the same issues with royal Purple. You said you wouldn’t use it the winter? Then why in the heck would you use it at all? Maybe they have changed the formulas in the past few years but you never hear of people having these issues with any other oils. I don’t mind spending extra money for a superior product, but in my opinion royal Purple is definitely not worth the money.

Out of nowhere last week I decided to switch from castrol edge high milage full synthetic to royal purple my ‘13 Sentra requires 0W-20. I am very regular on changing my oil around 5k-6k mikes even with the full synthetic and I could feel a noticeable difference in the smoothness of the idle and the response to throttle, this car by no means is fast, in fact it’s extremely week at 130hp but I’m huge on taking care of all my large and shell engines. I enjoyed this video because it helps confirm my theory that from what I am seeing so far, this is a very superior motor oil and for 7$ more than the other full synthetics it is far worth the investment into the life of your engines!!

First time using this oil and I am noticing gas mileage improvement. On top of not overfilling (when I’ve overfilled in the past my gas mileage goes down). But with this level in the royal purple I got it spot on in the middle of the dip stick indicators and the mileage I was getting prior was 18.4 and now I’m getting 20.6 mpg

There's not much research on nano diamond ball bearings. It can reduce wear and polish the moving parts and dissipate heat but it can also starve friction areas and increase wear. I suspect that it will be a good additive for some engines and increase wear on others.

This is not true at all API certified royal purple almost completely nearest Valvoline and its additive package the famous synerlerc additive royal purple became famous for does not exist in the API dexos approved oil. It is nothing more than a group 3 synthetic. It’s decent oil but it is not superior to anything else on the shelf at Walmart. This guy says not to run royal purple in the winter but to run valvoline in the winter instead which makes zero sense for multiple reasons. Mainly because they are blended almost the same. Of course this is all information anybody can look up. Go to Bobistheoilguy.com with that said royal purple is good oil but in all honesty you can get just as good or better for lower price point.

Driver, muscle car enthusiast and DIY'er mechanic for a half century. It's not worth it to me! I have used synthetic oil from many of the major brand names for 20 years. I trust them and the API rating they carry, now "SN/SN+". Most of my driving is/has been highway driving, easier than city driving. Still, in my last working years, I was following a 7500 mile/6 mo. change interval. Now, retired it's 6000-7000 miles/1yr. I'm not going beyond 7500 miles, no matter whose oil is in the crankcase! The major brands of synthetic at half the price of Royal Purple are well known for protecting engines out to 300/400/500 thousands of miles. Sales hype has permeated the auto industry/accessories/oil & filters/etc. for decades. Many of the claims have never and cannot ever be substantiated, but the claims never die!

In Cuba , because of sanctions and lack of motor oil, people put cooking oil with soap shavings as additive and the engines did just fine, hehehehe. Expensive oil just makes the car owner think that he is doing something good for his car, just like premium gas.

I think other people have commented about Royal Purple Racing oil... It has high zinc levels. (ZDDP or similar molecule). I've been working on cars nearly as long as Scotty Kilmer and I agree zinc is a great anti-wear additive. It was made popular by STP oil treatment. On the down side it destroys catalytic converters! More zinc is better for your engine, less zinc is better for your converters. Zinc gets really bad, really fast if your car burns oil. That's why Royal Purple calls it racing oil.. as in for cars that aren't catalytically converted or older cars built before 1975. Second point: I had a friend who worked on designing and testing B29 bomber engines. They discovered that graphite could reduce friction and fuel consumption and extend the range of the bombers significantly. But that the graphite settled out of suspension when the planes weren't flying and the advantages were very short lived. In the late 1970's ARCO released ARCO graphite oil and for sure I tested it in my 1966 Olds. The idle increased a couple hundred RPM and the fuel economy improved about 3 MPG, on a car that usually only got 10 MPH... It was amazing! A week later after sitting a few days, the idle dropped and I had to turn it back up and the fuel economy was back to or below normal. As predicted by my friend's research in the 1940's the graphite particles precipitated out of the oil. When I took the engine apart some years later, I found piles of graphite paste around the lifters in the engine valley. Beware any oil or oil additive that claims to contain slippery solid molecules like graphite, Teflon (PTFE) or magic diamonds in suspension. While it isn't a scam, and it does work, it only works until the solids settle out of the oil and maybe clog something. Or maybe, you could use it and change your oil every day... but even the B29 research team, that could literally change oil every day dropped the idea 80 years ago. I've had some awful experiences with Valvoline products over the decades mostly with their straight weight non-detergent motor oil and their limited slip differential oil. I'm trying their CV axle grease in my 1981 Hemi K wagon suspension. The car only gets driven about 200 miles per year and I think CV grease is better than chassis lube and it was pretty much the only synthetic lube the store had... I know I'm not being scientific, but I do have a long memory and avoid products that let me down. I never used Amsoil... basically price and availability outweigh the benefit for me, pretty much same for Royal Purple. They may be better than Mobil 1 20,000 motor oil, but Mobile 1 is already many times better than the oil my cars call for. And with a daily driver that has a 7.5 quart oil pan I can basically change the Mobil 1 (from Walmart) twice as often as Amsoil for the same cost. I might add that I met a former Exxon/Mobile employee that was involved with the Mobil 1 20,000 mile oil development and he claims that it really is as good as they claim. One last footnote... I have a friend who is the retired editor of a famous car magazine and a member of SAE. He told me that every oil with the appropriate SAE certification is perfectly fine to use in a motor vehicle. The film strength, viscosity and detergency is at least good enough to protect an engine from wear and sludge build up using the auto manufacturer's recommended drain intervals. He literally ran the cheapest oil he could find in his own cars. I honestly do believe him, but still I believe better is always better, but only up to a point. If conventional motor oil is fine at eliminating wear and keeping the engine clean and a synthetic oil is twice as good and another synthetic oil is three times as good and the top 4 brands are competing for 4.5 vs 4.6 vs 4.7 vs 4.8 times as good there's a point where best really doesn't matter. So whichever top tier oil you use, you can't go wrong. As an older person, over the course of my life and experience, the hardest fought debates are usually between two people that are both right.

I'll never understand people's logic when it comes to preventative maintenance. They use standard oil opposed to stuff like RP and all RP is maybe 3/4 bucks per quart more. Unless you run a fleet and update your cars every few years why on earth would you be so stingy when it comes to a 7000 engine minimum? I could see if you fork out that 3/4 bucks every single week but who changes their oil that soon? I always pay a little more when it's worth it.

Some General Motor engines have a (pretty) well documented "valve slap" that can (does) occur until the engines warm up in the winter... but until seeing your video, it didn't occur to me to switch back to Valvoline for the winters. Thanks!

The size of scratch is minutiae ( miniscule in comparison ). It's the wear surface you should be concerned with. RP leaves a nice smooooooooth wear spot, all others have gouges and "canyons" for lack of better terms. RP TILL DEATH.

Wouldn't a polish be bad? When you polish you a small amount off the surface. Like if you polish you car paint there a little bit of abrasives to get rid of imperfections , but you take a small amout of the clear coat. In my mind it would be wearing out the engine.

In reality what micropolishing means is that if by any chance there is a loss in lubrication due to loss of oil pressure the film strength of that milimeter of oil between the contact points will not severely scar or scratch the surface opposed to other lubricants that will scar and create more scratch flake debris and higher temps.

Royal Purple doesn’t just “runoff metal” as you said it does comparing it to the Nissan estor oil. RP has an ionic charge which attracts it to metal - EVEN IN WATER by the companies’ video demonstrator.

RP is racing oil, you would never want to run this shit in your daily driver. it doesn't not stand up to extreme temp changes and it burns really fast. we're talking like a quart every 1000 miles. great lubricity but not so great when it comes to longevity. this is the kind of oil that you run in your track car and toss after every race.

I personally only use Valvoline full synthetic highmileage on my Civic. Has 218,500 miles on it original engine, still runs solid, great oil pressure, doesn't burn a drop. I've used royal purple before, and it is an excellent oil, but a bit overkill for most regular everyday drivers.

I agree with you bro I used to use Mobil1 synthetic for 20 years along with Lucas additive and when I switched to Royal Purple I noticed the MPG improved and feels like car is running smoother and acceleration got better maybe. But Once I put RP EXP or extreme racing oil in my car my MPG went up even more! But now I am reading many people on line putting down the RP for some reason saying their car burns oil and engine is knocking once they switched to RP? I only had good experience on my Subarus. I don't know maybe some Manufactures don't run well on RP?

So my dad fell in love with his new Duramax he bought brand new. He had the top end rebuilt at 100k because he hauled ass in it all the time with shit maintenance an shit oil in it. I made him try the RP Duralec 15w40 with the rp oil filter after the engine rebuild. He said he saw a huge difference an did research on RP for like a year while using it. He just hit 500k an he changes the oil every 3500 to 4000 because he drives it like it's stolen. The only thing that was changed from stock was straight pipe exhaust, then he put RP in the Allison, transfer, an front an rear diff. He has 3 cattle ranchs an drives it everyday. So nothing but good came from Royal Purple an my dad's Truck still fly's lol he loves the stuff an it drives like new still. So many people wanna buy the truck from him once they hear the story lol it's pretty funny. RP for life and btw, that same oil is in all of my dad's new John Deere tractors. Fuck the haters are Diesels will out live us lol

put a small amount in a little bottle and leave it in your car , take a look at it when its -10 deg outside . its to thick for my liking , go with Valvoline in the winter . My car has galley gaskets and other gaskets in the oil system that can be blown from high oil pressure , reving your engine with cold oil can cause some seroius engine damage to a vhq37 engine , it will blow a galley gasket .

Here in the UK i used to use Comma...don't laugh! But now switched to Castrol Magnatec and that made the engine noise really more quieter even thou it was quiet before with no problems,knocks.tapping etc. I have a 2002 Yaris 87k runs beautiful and smooth.I change my oil just after it gets black which i know it'll get another 4k from it and any VVT-I engines needs decent and frequent oil changes which many don't think about.It does need cleanish oil otherwise later on there will be problems due to the complex of VVT-i.Your engine will like you for frequent oil changes folks.The chance of engine failure/problems with long/dirty frequent neglected oil is slim but an expensive lesson.Oil is fairly cheap,engine are not and we need reliability now a days folks otherwise it'll cost us more in the long run.

Ya wanna see high oil pressure? Get an old solid tappet rabbit diesel. 100psi on a cold start, and once warm it’s still 100psi. It buries the gauge if you rev it off idle when cold, upwards of 130. Hard to tell what it goes to. the gauge is buried. Have fun using cheap filters. Besides them occasionally blowing out , nobody aftermarket has the 55-50psi bypass spring like the oem filter.

Oh another thing, if other oil has diamond beads in it, I remember at school that diamond is stronger than cast iron fillings and ali so it must be like having small bits of grit that happens to be made from diamond, I must be missing something here if its so parts of metal can have ball bearings to ride on, I shall stick with my RP thanks, what do you use in winter ? A higher viscosity cos at the mo I am 5/30 and winter is next week so do you go up to 10/30,or an additive as I have just changed it 1000mls ago with a Bosh filter which I swapped out for a K&N Nascar(higher flow rate) 2 weeks after, the oil feels a tad loose on a cold start, I am having a new rad as the old one developed a small leak at the top fank gawd so i am fitting a water pre-heater (£30) same time, so I don't have to burp the engine with 1 bleed valve as I cannot locate another, so I will let the pros do it at Jaguar when they fit the rad ..top vid and to the point, I will build another engine up as I want more power so it will be interesting to see how the Royal Purple has done, I might film it..
