While you're talking about how veterans just play better I was laughing with myself because just seeing you navigate normally you can tell how new someone is, the over turning of the wheel, lowering anchor, trying to argue with pvpers, always at full sails, missing buckets or going all the way to the border of the ship to throw water because you don't know the water trajectory etc etc etc 😂 there is so many small technics that give you a HUGE advantage it feels like the enemy just has no cooldown on anything while you move like a slug and fuck up basic movements all the time 😂, sot is so easy to pick up and have fun but VERY hard to master and get used to everything but when you do all those small things become muscle memory and you just do them and dont even notice, until you see someone playing like you are playing and you realize how much you do without noticing, specially with sounds I swear I can close my eyes and tell exactly everything that is happening around me and react accordingly by muscle memory, AND IM NOT EVEN GOOD 😂 I'm only 167 in the pvp mode you probably dont know the name of, there is multiple ppl I met above 1000 IN BOTH FACTIONS I'm pretty sure if they watch me playing they would say the same Im saying to any new players, multiple small mistakes that WILL cost you the fight 100%, I love this game lol

24:30 Veteran here, there are things that allow your boat to go faster, or weapons that allow for other types of combat like fire-throwing skulls, tridents and so on, but these are things like treasure with functions, so as you say in finale you sell that, but nevertheless, it gives you some advantage provided you obtain such an item while sailing 28:10 After some time in to the game, you find more fast ways to get more cash, and start playing for harder guilds like reapers, athena or you own guild, and that have good money too yes PVP is hard to the new players, to be good at this you must overcome a lot of failures. as for the shop interface, an item search engine is to appear in the store next season, as announced by the creators P.S. great video

Sea of Thieves is one of the games where you have to put a lot in to get something out. I mainly play it for the experiences as those are almost instant and almost endless (10x better with a friend). A few tips for new players: -Please turn off your lanterns especially at night as you can be seen easily for miles. Same with glowing cosmetics although it is not as bad. -If you are leaving you ship unattended for a decent amount of time, it is always better to have you sails up and anchor up, than anchor down as it is much easier to get moving if you are under attack. -The skull of siren song quest when completed grants 50,000 gold. It is great for easy money as half the time you are uncontested. The quest can be accepted by using the ghost note that sometimes appears on your mast.
@LoofaTroopa4 ай бұрын
Great tips! We did the skull mission ourselves a handful of times, and it was always a rush when we went to deliver it to captain Brigsey and saw ships on the horizon trying to take our loot!
@hoshi_was_here4 ай бұрын
Regarding the lanterns comment, any halfway aware crew that has more than a couple hours in will instantly spot you the second you pop on their horizon, lanterns on, or off. This game teaches you very early on to always keep an eye on all directions and every experienced player does this subconsciously. Turning your lanterns off won't help you stay stealthy against the players who will come to sink you. It would only (potentially) hide your ship vs brand new players too overwhelmed to look at their surroundings that you could've fended off easily in the first place. You'll be sacrificing your own night visibility on deck for nothing. #justKeepThemOn a quick comment about anchoring in general. The anchor is used to stop your ship's forward momentum and not drift off your parking spot. But raise immediately. You'll sink instantly if someone catches you with your anchor down. Get used to managing your speed with sails and only temporarily drop anchor if you overshot. Anchor has a few other uses like anchor turning and storms, but in general, avoid ever having your anchor down. ESPECIALLY if you're away from your ship.

I have about 430 hours on the game, 70% of which I spent solo. This is a pretty much bang on review (and really well edited, good work dude). I would add that the skill ceiling in this game is astronomically high. You think that's an ocean you're sailing on? Wrong. It's a salty mix of tears and sweat from the playerbase. I know you touched on this, but new players consistently bemoan the sinking from higher skilled pirates. If someone is willing to put in the effort to improve their PVP skills and enjoy a challenge, I say SoT is worth the time. The naval combat in SoT is second to none. That specifically is what hooked me on this game. Sinking a ship is just a pure endorphine rush and I mainly just do Hourglass now because of it. A big negative of this game though is the severe amount of glitches and exploits. It's just a sea of bugs sometimes and not small ones at that. Server issues, desync, hit reg, ocean glitches, ect... It's definitely a turn off and Rare is slow to fix anything, if at all.

😂 It's a super sweaty player base lol. But I did run into some pretty cool people too. The addition of the AI controlled ships help to get a new player acclimated, and practice a little before attempting to fight another crew (and probably getting sunk).

In terms of rate of gold per hour, this game is all about risk vs reward. The lowest risk faction, the hunters call simply has you catch fish or hunt animals and cook them to sell. This will not get you much gold but it is very unlikely you will be a high priority target for other crews. While if you are representing the highest risk faction, the reapers bones will expose you on the map for everyone to see you at all times. Once you reach grade 5 as a reaper emissary, other crews will know you have loot and be highly incentivised to come and try to take it from you. But if you manage to fend everyone off and turn in the loot to the reapers, everything you turn in will be at a 2.5x gold multiplier. Unlike the other factions which will only give you a gold boost for their own loot, but you will be hidden from other crew's maps.

1 the crew at 16:05 is a perfect example of bad pirates. they will gloat at sinking new players and curse you out if they start losing, as a longtime player of sot if i saw that happening id sail over and sink that galleon. the only good excuse would be if they needed to sell and didnt want to risk a wildcard, its a lot faster and more efficient to get supplies from a sea fort. 2 as for not knowing to scuttle, if your pirate dies enough times in a short span of time a prompt about scuttling your ship will appear. 3 there really isnt any other thing they could let you spend your gold on that isnt cosmetics without giving players who have been playing an advantage over new players which is why they only sell cosmetics. 4 amazing video and breakdown of sot. good job and i hope you are doing well, if i ever see you on the seas ill be sure to show you some of the games more unique "features"(unintended ,non gamebreaking, bugs).

Just a tip for context at 16:00. When you say you have nothing you actually have a emissary grade 2 flag which sells for 3,500 - 4,900 gold. Also the boat shooting at you has a reaper emissary which the grades will multiply the value of selling stolen emissary flags. Also there are commendations for selling flags while using the reaper emissary so they are just playing the game as intended and not "griefing". Also reaper emissary boats will always be visible on the map, so it should be hard for them to sneak up on you.

Hello! Veteran player here with over 1000 hours, peanut butter, ghost, and skelly curses, and a huge love for PvP. I hope I can help new players a bit on their journey. First off, amazing video! I was interested to see the perspective of new players joining in so late in the game. Very well done, and I appreciate getting to understand what it's like waking up in that tavern for the first time so far in. Also, I'm sorry. I already know this is going to end up being longer that I anticipate because I love this game so much. I'm so passionate about it. It makes me happy that there's still new sailors joining the seas. No worries if anybody feels like skipping over the following novel. I only hope I can help some noobs. Key points so you can skip my passionate rambling that comes after: -If you really need some direction as a rookie, work towards achieving Pirate Legend status. You get this by reaching level 50 with at least 3 factions (typically gold hoarder, merchant, and order of souls). This is a great goal to help you lock in. -Enjoy each stage in the evolution of gameplay as you learn and improve. What you love today might not be the same in a month. -Don't run. It's a PvPvE game. You'll sink before you thrive, but you WILL thrive. You've gotta practice somehow, so fight back. -The gold you earn will increase as your playstyle evolves. Don't get discouraged by the grind. It'll lesson exponentially. -Loot your starting outpost. Check the barrels and stock up. Organize your ship's barrels. -Do NOT touch that hourglass on your quest table. -Raising an emissary flag will give you way more gold and exp, but it comes with the risk of making you more valuable for PvPers. -READ!!! So many new players use the Reapers Mark flag because it looks cool. It says it marks you on the map for other players so they can come fight. -You don't have to do everything. You'll get overwhelmed. There's a lot to do now. Focus on learning one or two elements at a time. Messed around with Gold Hoarders last 3 sessions? Comfortable with that? Maybe try a sea fort today. -Don't stack huge amounts of loot unless you're prepared to defend it. The loot isn't yours until turned in, so go sell! -A sloop is for 1-2 players. A brig *says* 2-3. Please don't try to 2 man a brig. 2 on a sloop is SO optimal. Omg you'll sink so fast in a fight on a 2 man brig. 3 for a brig, 4 for a gally. -Scan that horizon. Knowing where players are ahead of time helps you anticipate their next move. -Keep your ship afloat!!! Don't jump off to avoid a keg or a fire. You can die countless times and it's fine. Your journey only restarts if your ship goes down, so prioritize keeping that ship afloat. To address your point about the gold grind for cosmetics, Sea of Thieves is a game where if you stick with it long enough, you will evolve as a pirate and so will your gameplay. What I mean is, new players are at a stage where (like you said) you're doing riddles, then you see a shiny on a nearby island, then you find a message in a bottle with 5 Xs on a nearby island- You get it. Enjoy that!!! Genuinely enjoy that adventure because that's the stage you're in now. It's fun and once you've evolved into future pirate stages, that all changes. So enjoy that while you've got it. The point I'm getting to is that as a long time player, none of that stuff is worth my time. You will make gold so much faster later in the game, but it takes time to get to that point. The riddles have gotten tedious. We tend to avoid them. A single bronze secret keeper shimmering on an island isn't worth stopping the ship for. 5 Xs on shipwreck bay isn't worth the trouble for the seafarers chests we'll get. In the beginning, it's loads of fun. I LOVED doing riddles when I started. Every little glow was a new expedition. It made me feel like a true adventurer in the best way. So none of those things are wrong to do. They're just based on what stage you're at. I wish I could start my adventure all over again to feel that thrill for the first time. New players, please keep enjoying your quests. Eventually you'll get to a stage where those sidetracking adventures evolve into bigger and better. For example, instead of a shiny object on a small island catching your eye, now your eye is being caught by the fort of fortune that just finished, but wait! Someone's there! They're probably still looting! If you get there quick enough, you might be able to steal an entire Fort of Fortune's loot haul from them. They have emporium sails that are typically seen on newer players! Their ship's bigger, but you know you can take them! These are the new adventures you work up to that are LOADS of fun, and then you get way more gold in way less time. If I raise emissary, go into hourglass, win on a four streak after about 30-45 minutes of gameplay, and then lower, I'm making several hundred thousand gold, not including any flags they had for me to sell. I loved your rogue lite analogy! Yes! Every adventure is new, and every time you sink, you learn and improve. New players aren't ready to make millions off of hourglass or pirating other ships. But you will be!! I think you estimated it would take around 51 hours for you to make enough gold for the entire ashen set. Yes. With the way new players are playing, it would. Focus on what's realistically achievable now. Because genuinely, after the pirate evolution is under-way, you can make enough for that whole set in an hour or two (maybe longer, but no more than one play session). I'm not kidding either. I think my biggest advice to new players would be not to run away. Fight and improve. Learn. Grow. Honestly, having a friend that's a long-time player really helps, but I know that's not a convenience everyone has. If you don't want to deal with other players quite yet, go to Safer Seas. "But the gold and exp is so much less!" Yes. Yes, it is. That's the tradeoff. If you need time to familiarize yourself, Safer Seas is a great starting point. However, that's not "the game." If you want the full rewards, you've gotta play "the game," which involves being a pirate amongst other pirates. A huge portion of the fun is the fear of other people wanting your loot. Then it becomes the thrill of becoming that fear in others. One of the golden rules of SoT is, "The loot isn't yours until you turn it in." No matter how good you get, there will always be crews that are better than you. What you can do is get to a point where it's not as common for a crew to be better than you. Eventually, that will be a welcomed rarity and a really good challenge. So don't run unless there's some toxicity happening or something. Unfortunately, there are mean pirates on the seas. That galleon that said, "you have supplies," was pretty low. I mean on one hand I kinda get it even though I wouldn't do it myself. They're reapers, you raised a flag, that flag is valuable to reapers. But it's a grade 1 flag at that point. Not worth sinking a fresh spawn ship over in my opinion. That was rude of them. The "supplies" would have been base supplies, so while you guys weren't losing anything since you'd spawn with a new ship and those same supplies, they weren't really gaining anything much of value other than your chainshots. And even I would have just asked for them at that point (or cannoned over, taken them, and left). My personal pirate code is to not sink new players unless they have a surprisingly enormous amount of loot. Then, it's SoT 101 time. If you want a metric ton of loot on board, you better be prepared to defend it. Otherwise, if I see a new crew with those 5 chests, that bronze secret keeper, and base supplies because they haven't yet gotten into the routine of looting the starting outpost, they're safe. I'll offer a few tips if they need help, ask to take their chain shots so I can go rob other people instead, and be on my way. If people run however and don't even bother to speak in game chat to negotiate or even attempt a friendly conversation, you're sinking. I'm stubborn like that and will acknowledge that as my toxic SoT trait. You're sinking out of spite. I WILL chase you for an hour and sink you. Please don't run. It's so frowned upon. Because maybe I would have let you go originally, but you've opted into a PvPvE game but aren't actually accepting those terms and conditions. Avoiding combat is one thing. Safely hiding your ship, not engaging others, keeping distance, that's all good and fine. But if someone gets the jump on you when you have loot, welcome to the game. Defend your loot! You do not owe anyone a fight. You don't. HOWEVER, they don't owe you an escape either. I hope to offer you some new perspective: You may lose 100k worth of gold. You WILL steal 200k worth of gold later. It'll always balance out. You'll get robbed, but you'll also rob and it will always balance itself. Also, it might have taken you 3 hours to get that 100k worth of gold. Eventually, you'll find ways to make that in a half hour. I hear a lot of angry rookies say things like, "It took me so long to complete this fort! You're just lazy and don't want to do the work." I'd respectfully argue that sinking another ship is more work. Usually at least, and if they try to defend themselves. The process of having improved, sharpening your PvP skills, and the risk of your ship sinking is all much more work. The time it took does not equate to the work put in. It's all about efficiency, late game. Killing skeletons on an island never puts you at risk like engaging with the people killing those skeletons. Because your journey doesn't start over unless your ship sinks. You can die 20 times and it doesn't matter as long as your ship stays afloat. What an amazing video offering so much well thought out perspective. I hope to see some more new pirates on the seas. Happy sailing.

That is partially true mainly for the Fort of Fortune (cloud of a red skull), the Fort of the dammed (grey skull with red eyes) and the Burning blade (big red ship marked on the map) but often, events like the skull fort (grey skull) and the ashen winds (red tornado) don't have people doing them so you can complete them pretty easy and you can also dive to them.

When my crew and I get on, we make a plan but it almost always pivots into something else and the game has a great way of doing that.
@Mr1Nutzlos4 ай бұрын
Great video! I wanted to touch on the topic of grinding and making gold that you mentioned. For new players, accumulating gold can be challenging, especially when you're limited to low-level quests. However, if you shift your focus to random quests (message in a bottle or skeleton captains on random islands), underwater shrines, or sea forts-both of which are always active, relatively quick to complete, and often uncontested-you'll find it easier to earn gold and level up more rapidly. Additionally, a key point about emissary flags: they’re excellent for boosting your gold earnings, but they come with a risk. The flag drops if your ship sinks, making it valuable loot for other players. Reaper’s Bones can sell it, and level 5 Reaper ships can see all emissaries on the map, making you a prime target.
@LoofaTroopa4 ай бұрын
Thanks for comment! Yeah, I completed a few sea forts and shrines, and they were actually some of my favorite mission types to do! One thing I think I could've articulated better is while you're largely doing the same thing throughout the game, the way that Rare mixes up the gameplay with the same tools at your disposal for every mission is kind of impressive, and I enjoyed the mission variety it offered.

While you're talking about how veterans just play better I was laughing with myself because just seeing you navigate normally you can tell how new someone is, the over turning of the wheel, lowering anchor, trying to argue with pvpers, alqays at full sails, missing buckets or going all the way to the border of the ship to throw water because you don't know the water trajectory etc etc etc 😂 there is so many small technics that give you a HUGE advantage it feels like the enemy just has no cooldown on anything while you move like a slug and fuck up basic movements all the time 😂, sot is so easy to pick up and have fun but VERY hard to master and get used to everything but when you do all those small things become muscle memory and you just do them and dont even notice, until you see someone playing like you are playing and you realize how much you do without noticing, specially with sounds I swear I can close my eyes and tell exactly everything that is happening around me and react accordingly by muscle memory, AND IM NOT EVEN GOOD 😂 I'm only 167 in the pvp mode you probably dont know the name of, there is multiple ppl I met above 1000 IN BOTH FACTIONS I'm pretty sure if they watch me playi g they would say the same Im saying to any new players, multiple small mistakes that WILL cost you the fight 100%, I love this game lol

Been playing on and off mostly solo since 2019, I can say that what you need most is TIME. Like you mentioned, a casual point A to point B plan turns very quickly into a point A to point O gameplay. Especially as most pvp and pve fights usually last 20-30 minutes(I will not even begin to discuss the usual slugfest that is hourglass at times), time is really of the essence. I played solo my first year. Learned alot and sank alot yet i loved it. If your new understand you may sink alot if in high seas. You can play safe seas to get use to it at a reduced gold rate and less access to things to learn and not deal with other players. Some players will sink you and are toxic. Others will help you because they recognize your new. My crew does not sink a new player unless they shoot first and will most likely help them. The community for this game is the best there is. I have met many friends through this game. Every adventure is unique and im just gonna do this real quick can easily turn into hours. The more you play the more you will learn. Over time you get better and in 4 to 6 hours, depending on what happens, we can easily make a million in gold now. No other game has created more memories, friendships and adventures than this game. Also if you want to shed a tear try to get together the ships and people to do Glitterbeard. Its an in game tribute to a Rare employee who passed away at a young age. I am just saying that since you raise up emissary it's worth to sink you. I personally would probably sink you in that situation especially if you had order of souls flag. But I would make it quick and painless. About the supplies... Sometimes you want to save time. Going on a fort is definetly better than sinking a ship. But if the fort is far away... And some kind of supplies cannot be found on forts. For example chainshots. Chainshots are the basic element of every pvp encounter. Every ship spawns with atleast 4 of them. You were on a brig so you had 6 of them. Best thing to do in this situation is to take all good supplies into your inventory and change the server by scuttling. Also freshly spawned ship should be out of danger. Outpost on wich you spawn are picked by algorithm so you cannot spawn infront of another ship. That means that you stayed on the same oupost for a while... Best way how to avoid being sunk right after spawn is to loot supplies as fast as possible and sail away from the outpost.

Why do I care when they provide no real upgrade to my player.. as I played more, and began to recognize certain cosmetics, some that are even unattainable. now, I realize that the cosmetics tell a story themselves. You can look at a pirate or ship set and immediately recognize the achievement they completed. More than saying "look how good I look" cosmetics are a way to silently communicate "look what I can do/did." Since then, I take commendation hunting much more seriously. Earned cosmetics hold so much more favor than purchased ones on the sea of thieves. Great video.

Treasure is everywhere, and it seems most “random items” go to them Order: skeletons. Everywhere. Reapers: sell whatever, sink it all. Athena’s: (not legend yet) sell the super rare shit. Dope cosmetics. Merchants: idk, transport stuff for us. I find the merchant quests are sometimes a little too dull. They take forever with multiple trips and cargo quality sometimes kills me. So true! I haven't done a ton of those merchant quests yet, but yeah.. the vibe I get is just kinda sailing. Maybe I need to dump more time into them to get what they're all about, but I'm in agreement here with you so far.

The point of the 'pirate generator' is to make imperfect pirates

The commendations and trying to find how to get them is frustrating even for player with more experience like me. Also why are you saying sorry to Skull and Bones? xd that game deserves no respect

That makes me feel like I'm not a total idiot for getting lost there lol. Skull and bones is definitely... a game.

hello loofa! sea-soned veteran with 2k hours here wanting to give some advice to newer players! Try not to take the game to seriously, when planing your adventure. one of the main reasons people quit this game is because they spend hours grinding at something, only to loose it to some sweaty try hard pirates. i know that it can be frustrating to loose all of your progress in one stroke of bad luck, but like Loofa said in the video currency does not really have any value. The thing that keeps me returning to the game are the hilarious interactions with the other crews on the server regardless of who lands on top. Try putting on a goofy voice and sailing around for fun with a quest as a side mission. The main quest should always be to enjoy yourself! (also amazing video, i love to see a new players perspective on this game!)

Hello Luke! Thank you! Yeah. I think most importantly, Rare gave a really good sandbox for you and your friends to be pirates in that is unmatched by any other game.

TLDR: It’s only worth it if you’re willing to put in the time and effort to improve. This game is a commitment.

If you're a new player, yes, you will get sunk by people who just wanna fight, but you'll also run into people who have mercy on swabbies. I can't in good faith dunk on new players, and many others feel the same. We all know how vast the game is, and how hard it is to learn all the technical ins and outs. Things like shutting off lanterns, or raising my anchor when I park are second nature now, but aren't obvious for new players. Luckily, there's a plethora of great SoT content to help you learn, no matter what skill you're at. Edit: if you haven't purchased the game yet and are considering, I personally recommend a thin pirate over one of the bigger ones, as being thin makes it easier to "tuck", which is hiding on a ship or island. Going barefoot will keep you quieter when walking on ships or stone as well. On the nature of cosmetics, yes, it'll take awhile for some of the stuff, but as you play and get better, you'll earn more. Stealing from other players, being good at pve, you name it. If you're good enough, you can end a session with over 1 million gold profit (even without gold bonuses like gold and glory or community weekend) though that will take a long time to get to that skill.

I’ve been playing since 2022, and I only just learned about the emissary ledger system. You can see it on the emissary pages of each emissary in the menu, however it’s kinda hidden at the bottom and I usually just focus on the level. I had done a bunch of grinding with reapers and made it to master rank accidentally, so I was pretty confused why. Then I learned that I earned these rewards, and it opened up an entire new world for me. Just made it to level 75 reapers and 80 servants, my goal is to get the skeleton curse before pirate legend 😂

Hold up emissary whaaaaat? 😅
@Lemoncoder1034 ай бұрын
@@LoofaTroopa yessir!!! The items are actually pretty cool. Sails, pretty much all cosmetics for your boat. Not to mention a full weapon set and tool set too, but you only get the rewards once per month. I think it takes 6 months total (not straight) of getting to master rank (which is usually million gold or more depending on the volume of players) to get all the items. I’ve almost gotten all the items for the servant rank (that’s the rank below master) but master I’ve only gotten one item - it’s pretty difficult to achieve every month. TLDR: emissary items hard to earn, almost half a year commitment, long yap sesh from me 😂

I dont envy the struggle of newer players nowadays. I was privelaged enough to start playing when basically everybody was bad so we all got better gradually. But new players now adays are competing with sweats who have played for years and know the game far better than anyone who started

Honestly there aren't many games I sometimes just boot up so I can enjoy the traversal for a little bit before going about my day... Only other games that come to mind would be Spiderman 2 and Red dead 2 Edit: and Elite Dangerous but I haven't played that in a minute

Last night I befriended a crew of new players. I sailed with them for three hours, helping them learn the game, fighting off other crews, & completing their first vault. I've been playing this game since 2017, I've spent more hours on it than I care to admit, & Im still madly in love with it. I've been in love with it even when the game was oretty sparse. Mainly because of how good it feels to just... be a pirate, & adventure on the seas, & interact with other players.

Have almost 1k hours in this game over 2 years and just wanted to say that all of these points are valid. The UI and pure information overload is something you get used to but are never OK with. Even now I have trouble remembering what button makes you leave the map table and where certain commendations are. They say it’s something they want to improve, but it’s been on the back burner for quite a while. PvP is also an interesting mechanic; it is absolutely something special, but even if you get decent at it, the skill ceiling is enormous. Any skill also won’t make you not feel like crap if another crew decides to be garbage people. If you play the game, have fun with the combat, but remember that the other captained ship you’re fighting is full of real people too. Some people (like the “supplies” crew or spawn campers) just see bully targets. Like your conclusion, I’d definitely recommend Sea of Thieves to anyone who has a close group to play it together and improve with. Especially as you learn how the game works, the good times and comedy just write themselves. Hope you keep having fun sailing!
@LoofaTroopa4 ай бұрын
Thanks for your input! I'll definitely be booting this up again from time to time. As someone who enjoys PvP games, but also just want to chill for a bit, SoT offers a good mix of both of these.
@CBaller4 ай бұрын
@@LoofaTroopa I definitely recommend Hunter’s Call fishing as a great way to chill out; when I first started fishing I’d just put a video or podcast on and fish while I listened. Just make sure to use Safer Seas if you truly don’t want to be bothered, or keep a paranoid eye on the horizon in High Seas if you want some trinkets for your efforts!
@LoofaTroopa4 ай бұрын
One of my favorite things that happened when we played was my we all ran across a ship that was just chilling and fishing at an outpost. We stayed at that outpost and (attempted to) fended off any ship that was being hostile so the guy could just fish. Nothing like that will happen in any other game, and it was so fun lol.

As a long time player, who hasn't finished the video yet admittedly, I just wanted to peel bakc the curtain a bit. I don't want to give the impression anything you said was wrong, far from it! But a bit of an overview cna help. The reason the pirate generator is the way it is, and why you can't make your own, is variety. Give players the power to make their own character, everyone is going to look the same-ish. Doing it this way improves the overall exeperience because you're not going to run into the thirtieth pirate this weke the same face, and you learn to love your pirate for their quirks, actually ultimately making you feel more connected. Second, theres a general economy to the game. Not the gold itself, but you need people doing the PvE quests to get the treasure, so the people looking for PvP can get rewarded. You talking about the emassary system is the biggest reason I wanted to make this post because you missed this important point. The Reaper emissary flag marks you on everyone else's map on the server, but if you get it to max level you get to see on your map any ships with non-Reaper emissary flags. This helps with that economy because the Reaper emissary serves as an indicator that, Im here to fight. And any other emissary flag is an indicator of, I'm willing to risk a fight in excahnge for more loot. Or at least thats how its supposed to work. A lot of people run the Reaper flag as just the other emissary flags but your boost isn't limited to one loot type. But I think guilds may have helped with that. At least a bit. Regardless: I bring these two points up to praise Rare for what theyre really focused on; player experience. Youre absolutely right about new players being overwhelmed by the sheer ampunt of stuff, I see it. But where this game shines is in how it constantly drives you into new adventures in a PvP setting.
@LoofaTroopa4 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comment! One thing I haven't tried yet, can you level up Reaper's flag by just turning in gold, or do you have to turn in other emissary flags from sunk ships to raise this?
@moonblaze27134 ай бұрын
@@LoofaTroopa Any loot will level up the Reaper emissary flag. You can go do PvE quests to get to level 5 if you want. Like I said, some people use it that way since the Reapers accept all loot.
