The rumor does potentially make sense. The original concept for Section 31 was to make it a series, but when it was announced that they were going to drop that and turn it into a movie, then all they did was take the first two episodes, slapped a potential "conclusion" to it (if they did it at all), and called it a day. With Paramount hitting bankruptcy and falling into massive budget cutbacks at the time of its creation, I wouldn't be surprised if that's what happened. Unfortunately, if that turns out to be true, all it is is a godawful pilot to something that's not going to be made and was shut down entirely.

Star Trek fans come from all different backgrounds and ages different genders and race. I started watching Star Trek because my parents liked it. What we share in common is a love from intelligent writers who identify solve problems in a creative way. This soap opera style without substance spells cancellation.

TNG wasn't received well when it came out, but people grew to love it. Kurtzman Trek, however, wasn't well received and soured like expired milk on a hot day as they continued to double and tripple down on political pandering.

The idea of section 31 isn't a bad one despite clashing badly with people happy feel good vision of Star Trek because it's something that would happen in real life. It needs to be well written with realistic and compelling storylines but I just don't have faith anyone in Hollywood is capable of that. Star Trek as we know it might be currently dead but the universe is very much recoverable with new characters and ships totally unrelated to past series. Like Star Wars, it's a big universe with unlimited potential for story telling without the need to recycle anything.

Star Trek hasn't been Star Trek since Nemesis and Enterprise. Kurtzman hasn't got a clue what Star Trek is all about. This section 31 movie is an absolute joke. All Paramount have to do is make a Star Trek show or movie that the fans want!

I loved the glimpses we had of Section 31 in previous ST shows and Luther Sloan is 1 of my favourite characters. But i don't want my memories to be ruined by the abomination we're about to get, also Michelle Yeoh or any other actor/actress getting $12 million is terrible.

Darn it! If they want to do a new Star Trek, do the Mirror Universe from the Star Trek Enterprise 2-part Episode "In A Mirror, Darkly". Would like to see what Empress Sato does after she takes control of the USS Defiant, NCC 1764.

that's the first third of the Star Trek Mirror Universe anthology book "Glass Empires" , with the second story following Spock's rise to power after Mirror Mirror though the equivalents of TOS season 3 and the TOS movies, and the third story follows Picard after Vash and Soong hire him to help them track down the mysterious Borg for help against the Klingon/Cardassian Alliance

One of the many smart things about DS9s Section 31, was that they subjected Dr Bashir to a elaborated loyaltee test (suposedly the KGB had a similar test) before offer to recruit him. Thus making the incredible level of secrecy about them believable. Kurzmanns 31 on the other hand just hires the evil emperor from the parallel universe, and a klingon double agent, and aparently whatever cardboard character that desperately needed a excuse to apear on screen. No matter how obvious the security risks would be.

People didn't 'hate' TNG when it debuted, it was just mediocre. A lot of that was due to Roddenberry's influence as he was 'behind the times' in the 80's and the episodes with his input to the story showed this. There were some good eps in the first 2 seasons, but compared to 3 and 4 especially, they just aren't as good. But that's not saying anything, since season 3 and 4 of TNG are some of the best TV ever made. Sooo many good episodes, iconic even. The middle seasons of TNG blows anything from the OST out of the water quality-wise, and only some of DS9's top episodes hold a candle. I can't believe the writers haven't figured out what to do with ST after all this time: MOVE ON. Just do what TNG did compared to OST: advance the timeline like 50-80 years, intro some new tech, new ships, new cast, new storylines, and go with it. Instead it's all rehash, remake, recast same characters, redo same plotlines, or worst of all: hamfistedly insert THE MESSAGE into everything in a transparent attempt at social relevancy or outrage clickbait. Alas, I was hopeful after 2009 Trek, but the sequel killed that hope. Real Star Trek died after DS9.

Why don't they stop making shows for the calven time line and go back to the og time line
@BobaDavis22 күн бұрын
There's nuance missing from her statement - TNG was exactly like TOS but the issue was that the audience needed a more "mature" telling of people in space. Halfway through season 2 was when Roddenberry lost creative control and stronger writing came into play. I suppose the best way to summarize TNG was that it didn't become what everyone wanted, it became what everyone needed, because the writers themselves were actual lovers of science fiction and they knew how to communicate their interests to a general audience that previously had little to no interest in anything that was Sci-Fi.
@thatpatrickguy344621 күн бұрын
I remember when TNG came out. I was in my teens. All my friends and family members who loved Trek were curious and hopeful. We didn't hate it. We missed the old characters, of course, but the new scripts were almost all well done, enjoyable, and made the characters likeable or at least understandable. With Kurtzman Drek, it's never an argument over which is the best, it's an argument over which is the least intolerable with "None of 'em." usually winning. Section 31 looks like an effort to drive their soaring success chart even higher. Sadly, nobody told Kurtzman he has the chart upside down.
@andrewbaggley27622 күн бұрын
This has all the hallmarks of the classic, "It's so bad, it's..." Well, I can't finish that with the archetypical ending, because it doesn't deserve it, but it can be stated that, "It's so bad, it's BAD." Kurtzman has concocted something that is condemned to burn in science fiction infamy, and as a signpost for future Star Trek writers to follow the dictum, "Don't do what Kurtzman did. EVER."
