Sunmi is probably my ult bias solo artist, just because her art is such a perfect unconventional blend of traditional symbolism, genre trademarks and the completely unexpected and her own personal weirdness. When you asked "What dress is this" the answer is a vintage treasure she hunted down in London together with her stylist. She's so unafraid in her expression and has the entire thing planned out. The lyrics, the genre, the sound, the visual effects, the wardrobe, just every little bit. It's all her and I love it.

I have to say that all the things you said that are confusing about the lyrics and the MV... like the contrast in emotions, they are all pretty normal after a bad breakup. The despair, loopiness, anger, desire for vengeance or karma... even the happiness and/or fake happiness of getting out of a toxic relationship/being dumped...all the questions about WHY.... Gashina is absolutely spot on. Very few songs that could embody all those emotions. Usually just 1 or 2 in most breakup songs. You are spot on about how she's like "Ha! Ha! You idiot!" but at the same time you see she's the one in pain.

BTW “gashina” is a triple pun. One is a slang term for a young girl, but Sunmi said that wasn’t what she was thinking of. The second is the one you saw in the lyrics: the verb “to go” in polite form, asking oneself something; it is the “would go” part of “why would someone go away from the pretty me?” The third one is “thorn(s) come out” or “become thorny”. Thus all the flower imagery.
