It's the head writer's way of salting the earth, to be honest. It's petty as hell but everytime theres a new head writer/whatever the job role is called, they will often do drastic stuff like killing people off to "cancel" storylines or get them out of the way because they don't like them.

Something is different in the episodes, I couldn't think what, then I realised. Hollyoaks has always used music during scenes throughout the episodes. Now they don't, they've stopped doing it. It's just quiet like every other soap.

1) Vicky doesn't seem cut up at all, considering she was pining for him and fighting his wife literally hours before. 2) Here we go again with Maxine's overacting. 3) Was giving Hollyoaks the benefit of the doubt with this 1 year jump and episode reduction, but they really messed up killing off Ethan. Maxine should've been dropped, and Ethan should have stayed. They really done him dirty!

But obviously Maxine has been there for twelve years now just like Sienna has as they both debuted in 2012, so it was always likely that she and Sienna were going to stay in the show. That's why I was absolutely shocked when Cindy, Tom, Sally and Warren were written out of the show because like Sienna and Maxine they had been there for a considerable amount of time as Tom was there from 1999 until 2024, that's 25 years, whereas Cindy was in the show on and off since 1996, which is 28 years depending on if you count the years in-between when Cindy wasn't in the show. Sally was there for 9 years, whereas I don't know how long Warren was there for, but fans get used to their favourite characters AND their least favourite characters being there as Tony, Jack, Darren, Ste, Mercedes, John Paul, Nancy, Sienna, Maxine, Leela, Joel, Peri, Grace and Mandy in particular have become icons of Hollyoaks and it's always sad when one of the show's iconic characters leaves. But Channel 4 has been trying to drive down production costs but there must be a better way of doing that than axing actors and actresses left, right and centre.

I can understand why they axed certain characters such as Sally, Charlie, Leah, Prince and James as they weren't there for as long as Tom, Cindy and Warren, but surely there is an easier to cut down production costs than sacking actors. Especially ones who have been there for years.

@@tomspence8506 It would have been one thing if they had spread it out over a course of a year but it literally turned into a weekly event over who's getting killed who's going to prison who's going on a trip forever and then eventually The time jump happened and then it turned into all the characters that ended up being written out it was like oh where are they at then they just get mentioned once and that's it I'm actually hoping that they would have more flashbacks of some of these other characters so we could see them possibly leave

Oh my OA poor Sienna “Shaw 😏” it really pains me to see her lose another one of her lovers first Ben, “Weston ☺️” then Trevor, then Warren, then Brady and now Ethan I was hoping that fall at least would’ve been enough to put him inside a coma or something it’s so unfair. I’ve read comments by People saying that it was either Dilly, Donny, Martha, Vicky or even one of the Twins but I didn’t see Donny or Martha there at the wedding, Dilly was probably on the balcony yes but even if she did push him it was probably by accident or something, Vicky would be the too easy piece to complete this puzzle no matter how obsessed she was with Ethan and there’s no way it could’ve been one of the Twins considering they loved Ethan and even Sophie called him “Daddy Ethan” besides they’re just Kids none of them are strong enough to even push him over that balcony. 😒
