I’m Canadian and Toronto is not a huge baseball market. They routinely have a half empty stadiums, and frankly, the country doesn’t have the same fandom as US markets, unless we’re talking hockey. Soto, like Ohtani, won’t play in Canada ever despite being offered $700mil.

George also wanted arod, who also was instrumental in winning the 09 ws . And of course there was cc sabbathia and texiera who were gotten as free agents . Soto is a rare player that comes along once in a life time in there prime of there career like Judge and Ohtani and you can say Trout as well. Yes he is a must sign for the Yankees. Yankees made if to world series The Mets havent won since 86 Jays are in another country and Redsox are multiple players away from being a winning team never mind playoff team. So you saying Yankees are better adding other average players as a better plan b is crazy. You better off saying that about the Red sox Jays and Mets they are better off getting multiple players to compete. Yankees get Soto they just need to add 1B a couple of bullpen players and maybe another SP. Adding Soto this year would be like a 16 mil difference you paid him 31 mil last year. They lost Rizzo Torres Holmes Kanhle and few more salaries. They can also move Stroman Cortes DJ Trevino and Grisham salaries this off season and add and Arenado with prospect take a DJ off are hands then add Mad Max one year deal move Cortes and prospect to get 1B makes Yankees even better with Soto. Soto is a one in lifetime player to add plus he will make your team crazy money

yankees had a more than reliable starting pitcher pitch 2 gems for them in the WS and lost both games. While the dodgers won the WS with 2 real starters lol. Obviously starting pitching is not everything especially if you lacking in other areas

They have Senga, Peterson, Montas. If they go 6 man rotation, they basically need 1,3,4. There’s plenty of pitching out there for them to fill those slots. They certainly have enough money to do it. It’s just a matter if if they get them. But if they get a guy like Burnes or Fried, then they’re good and all they need is 2 other decent starters. Maybe sign Manaea as 3. Senga could move up to 2, then get Burnes let’s say. You’d have: Burnes, Senga, Manaea, Peterson, Montas, (fill in an average pitcher here) With that type of rotation, they’re perfect. All they need is a good strong bullpen. they already have Diaz. They need a setup guy, and fill out the lineup with soto and Alonso. I mean Soto is gonna be the deciding factor here. If they don’t get him, I don’t see them winning the World Series, or even making it to the WS over the dodgers.

@ if they don’t get a good rotation they not winning nothin. I don’t think getting Soto is a make or break for this team because there’s other good hitters in the market that can help out the Mets also. But I will be sooooooo disappointed if they don’t get Burnes and manea,fried or crochet. I want a rotation with strong bullpen. They definitely have the money But them signing montas which he’s hot garbage points to them not trying to spend on an ace. We made it to playoffs we supposed to adding to this team and making in stronger. The dodgers is pretty much flexing on every team and getting better than last year. Why is the Mets looking into clay homes as starter,Mike siroka as starter. We shouldn’t be entertaining this and moving like a small market team. Leave that to the brewers,Tampa and Oakland. No lie this is how the Mets win the winter meetings. Getting Burnes, Soto or Santander, brining back Pete,iglesia,manea and trading McNeil so Acuña can start @ second.

Soto is a very good offensive player but that's not worth $600M over how many years. With the $600M you can fill numerous holes on the Yankees roster.
