There is a bus lane along the expressway...its just that cars take the opportunity to zoom in and last minute swerve into normal lane. Also in newer buses, there is the Passenger Information Display Systems (PIDS) that shows the next 5 stops and the terminating point of bus services. Some buses older bus models (Citaro, ADL E500, B9TL, etc) have in-bus announcements but they will be phased out, replaced by buses with PIDS system.

Ok, let me clarify some things. 1. You said that there was no info about places in the bus. That is not true at all. Passenger Information Display Systems (PIDS) can be found on the newer buses. They can be found at the front of the bus, or near a wheelchair bay, or on a double decker, both at the wheelchair bay and behind the staircase. They show the next stops and MRT stations.

These newer buses were delivered only from mid-2018 onward though & form a minority of our public bus fleet though (excluding demonstrators as they are small in number) (~150x Euro6 MAN A22, 50x Volvo B5LH, 400x Euro6 MAN A95, 30x BYD K9s, 20x Linkkers, 20x & 30x each of Yutong E12 & E12DD, 50x each of 3-door ADL E500 & MAN A95). Besides them there's also the minority of buses speced by SMRT that come with a more basic PIS (~200x EuroV MAN A95 + 1x Euro6 version, 40x MAN A24, 729x MAN A22, 50x MB Citaros, 216x ADL EuroV E500s & 134x MB OC500LEs). The rest of the fleet is speced by SBS & while its 1400x MB Citaros have speakers that now play audio announcements of the next stop (i.e. an audio-only PIS), its remaining 1591x Volvo B9TLs & ~1000x Scania K230s make do with "Bus stopping" indicator lights (though the ez-link card readers will show the next stop when you are only 100m away from it). So you have ~6170 public buses in total out of which ~800x (~12.97%) have PIDS, ~1370x (~22.2%) have PIS, 1400x (~22.69%) have audio-only PIS while the remaining ~2691x buses (~42.24%) don't have any, though I've seen netizens opine that smartphone apps could make PIDS obsolete. Hmm...maybe if the app is user-friendly & you setup it correctly e.g. that you've selected the right bus service, so when you're on a road with staggered bus stops, the app shows correctly which bus stops are skipped by your bus
