CP did need something in the location where this is going as the area has looked like crap inside the park since Wildcat was removed and outside the park since the Cedars dorms were removed. Totally agree that it is a cut/paste. I think there's a better chance that this thing opens in 2025 than TT2 to be honest.

This is actually not the first time SF bought up scrapped projects. They last did this last year for SFOG and SFGAdv for their what supposed to be 2024 coasters now pushed back to 2025. I think it's a great move and are actually not considered "hand-me downs" since most of the time they're brand new and haven't been built yet.

I don't know if you've heard the whole story of this coaster since you posted this video, but it IS pretty well known now that Six Flags Mexico wanted to put this in an area of their park where multiple trees would have to be removed. The local authorities didn't approve the construction because of that, and the park found another area where they wouldn't have to remove trees. They were still denied construction approval, so Six Flags figured out within just a few weeks where this coaster could go. It's possible there will be no major theming to this ride, or it's possible they didn't have enough time to decide what they were going to do and add that to the announcement video. None of us would be surprised if it's the former, but if they spend the money to add rocks and shipwreck debris that would add so much more to the ride. As far as the decision to give it to Cedar Point, I'm just assuming this is going to be more battling between the big parks to be the best and draw more guests.

I've read earlier today something about TT2 track being off center by a few inches. They have been doing surveying work with lasers and stuff on the track lately so 🤷🏻‍♂️. A few people have said they got this because they knew tt2 wasn't going to be open next season. But who knows for sure.

it is kind of odd that CP is not getting something specifically designed for the park but that doesn't mean it's a bad fit. I hope they decide to paint the track something more ocean-like. I am wondering if they are planning on getting this open on opening day or will the go with the traditional Six Flags model of opening later in the season. I'll go out there on Sunday to see if there are any surveyor's marks on the ground in the area

I agree about the paint job and even though I agree that a custom layout would be awesome, the fact that CP is getting one of North America's first tilts is still exciting news! Also, they did announce that it'll be opening "early summer 2025" so that to me indicates that it won't be ready during the beginning of the season, or at the very least, not to expect it to be. I'm a little bummed that they chose this park for it, but it's still fitting considering there aren't many of this ride model out there. I was pretty pessimistic about this announcement at first myself but the more I stew on it the more excited I get. Also, I think part of the reason they haven't made as much progress as far as announcing this and construction is because Six Flags Mexico was pending permits for the ride (locals weren't happy with how many trees they were planning on knocking down and the local government denied them...how/why a park isn't allowed to utilize their land that they own however they please is a bit odd to me but okay) and was denied said permit. This coaster needed to go somewhere and although the decision was rushed I think ultimately they made a good one. Most coasters at this park are custom layouts, having one off the shelf coaster isn't necessarily a bad thing. Rant over 😅

No, it's not a bad thing. It's great because now we will see more new-gen vekoma in the new "six flags" group. That's only a good thing. Is this coaster a good fit? I think so, it adds a new coaster with a 48" height requirement. But I feel like SFA or SF St. Louis deserved it more. Yeah, the colors aren't a good fit for the name, but that can always change.

While i do agree with what your saying, the point i was trying to make is that a park like Cedar Point shouldn’t be getting hand me downs like that. The mecha of theme parks should be getting the biggest and baddest of a model, not one that will have its stats beat out in less than a year.

That, to my knowledge, wasn’t the world’s tallest or fastest anything at all and yet it is widely considered the thing that broke the coaster wars. While this is maybe not 100% super ideal, it’s a great move to pull some publicity away from TT2 and give the park a great new coaster at a relatively low cost.

That coaster's track work was completed months ago. It was originally supposed to go to Vietnam and open last year in 2023 in which those plans fell through. Back then, there were images showcasing the track and supports of it as it was pre-made for that specific park.

I think they did this as a stop gap to take the negative attention that tt2 has been getting. It looks a little rushed given the lack of theming. I also wonder if its a sign that TT2 is getting even further pushed back because of necessary modifications?

I’ve never known Cedar Point not to open on time they start construction in the middle of winter. Where the old Six Flags parks star construction during the season, that’s why they never open on time

I mean when they announced people ate that shi up🤣and atp this just sounds like an apology from cedar point, meaning they wanted to get us something quick to make up for the dismal 2024 season. I’m sure if the energylandia coaster wasn’t an option, there wouldn’t be any others and we would be getting a flat ride as an apology which would instantly get hated on. So I say win win and it’s smart on their end tbh
