To be honest soccer players run up and down the field and pass the ball. Imagine a pitcher throwing a 103 mph fastball, you hitting it with perfect mechanics 120mph 460 feet, or hitting it 107 mph and the center fielder running 100 ft away at a perfect trajectory to the ball hit 310 feet, making a diving catch, then throws it 310 ft right to the chest of the catcher at home plate to get him out trying to run 90 feet before he can throw the ball 310 feet. There's a reason you see even "top tier athletes" throw a first pitch 20 mph 20 feet to the side of home plate. baseball takes extreme skill over years and years of repetition. Yes kicking a goal does, but kick a ball into a pretty large goal is a lot different then hitting a 100mph fastball. Even the strongest person on earth will only throw 60mph if he doesn't have perfect mechanics, yet a 5'9 guy can throw 103 exactly where he wants to. There's "athletisicm" like being able to run _____ km in a soccer math, and then theirs skill like having proper hip to shoulder separation, a proper load, a proper wrist probation, proper arm angle, etc.....you have to be the best of (A league) the best (AA league) of the best of the (AAA) league to even make it in MLB, and it's common that they will be pros for 10 years before they get a shot at the big leagues, at 30 something years old. Of course any sport played at the highest level is hard. But in my opinion "skill wise" baseball is harder than soccer/futbol. "Athleticism wise" maybe not so much.

One of the less talented sports has to be MMA. There are countless stories of UFC fighters who started training in martial arts when they were adults. In football, basketball, table tennis... if you didn't start playing very young, you probably won't be a professional athlete, let alone play in the best league in the sport like the UFC is for MMA, for example. Another thing is that anyone can play football, you can be 5'7 like Messi or 6'4 like Haaland, that will be a role for you. It's not a sport for the genetically gifted like basketball, swimming, running... which means it's purely a skill-based sport.

Soccer is played in every country, there is a deep talent pool of millions of people. It takes huge talent to be at the top of soccer. In the UFC, they had plenty of guys who main evented who can't fight for crap. For example, Ronda rousey. and that WWE wrestler. TJ dillashaw became a UFC champion after only 3 or 4 amateur MMA fights and under 10 pro fights, in like 4 years and at 20 something years old. That proves it's a weak sport, you can't start soccer at 20 something years old and do it for 4 years and be at the top, it's impossible.

Baseball relies heavily on metrics, basketball relies on set plays, and high basketball IQ, lacrosse & hockey require quick thinking and the ability to run plays at a fast pace. American football requires hours of film watching, understanding each position play, understanding coverages, blocks, reads, and then executing it all at that high level. For american football there is the playbook side of thinking than, the on field athletisism thinking like body position, moves etc. Soccer is more improvised besides the few set plays for free kicks and corners, the few defense sets, etc. I've played multiple sports and know first hand the difference. Look up these videos for respective sports: (American football) Film Study: Clemson vs. Bama 2019 CFB Title (basketball) Breaking down the most efficient Princeton offense in the NCAA: the Richmond Spiders (hockey) NHL Tonight: 1-3-1 powerplay (lacrosse) Strategy Explained: Wheel Plays, Man-Up Rotation, and Zone Offensive (baseball) basic cutoffs and relays in baseball (mma) DC on covingtons win over Jorge Now watch a soccer set play. Sorry, no comparison; it's very easy to comprehend as an average joe. Unless you played these sports above, you will get lost in the terminology and nuances of the sport. Higher level of film, playbooks, plays and thinking. But anybody who played these sports above will tell you that those videos are pretty basic, fundamental-style films. PS: My experience is working in the sports industry. Playing ice hockey at as a youth stopped due to expenses, than tried soccer and baseball as a youth stopped (not for me), played basketball and american football in junior high. In high school, played football, basketball, and lacrosse. In the military started training in mixed martial arts. Still currently train in MMA (Boxing, Muay Thai, Jiu Jitsu, Wrestling). Also ride dirt bikes, so know how hard that is, too. Don't underestimate racers either...

But if you know nothing about baseball, when you watch baseball all you see is a guy throwing a ball, a guy hitting the ball and running, and another guy trying to catch the ball and throw it. I played football in tuve county that is world champion, the selection of players to become pro starts at 6 years old and even people that start in top clubs at 6 and make it to the 16 years old dont made the cut to pro. It's my thought, like many people have mentioned, that there are so many (@ 240 million registered) kids playing soccer and they start at such a young age that their physical skill is extremely advanced. It is also the reason why you have 15, 16 and 17 year old kids playing Professional Soccer; even in the most important leagues!! (Or even, like in the World Cup of 1958, where Pele played for Brazil at the age of 17!) At that age, the only chance an American Football player would have to participate in professional Football would be as a Water boy or Cheerleader (And some get paid EXTREMELY well). The reason is that even though the American Football players have the physical ability at that age, they haven’t developed the mental acuity necessary to not only memorize but to discern what play or what option to take in all different plays they have STUDIED (Heck, some of these kids can’t even decide what to wear next day). I get a real laugh when I hear people say that football players have to wait for the coach to send the signal of what play is next because “they don’t know what to do!!! These people are totally ignorant of the complexity of American Football, where each team has hundreds of plays in their books and for each game they may include new plays. Unlike Soccer, you just don’t go around tossing the ball from one side to the other until you get lucky and score. This is reflected in the number of coaches needed. "Nearly every American football team has multiple coaching positions that work together, with NFL teams averaging 15 assistant coaches. The head coach oversees all the coaches and should have many years of experience playing and coaching football. Defensive and offensive coordinators are in charge of their respective players. The special teams coach supervises kickers, field goal protection, punt return, punters, and the kicking team, while the quarterback coach is an assistant coach who monitors the mental and physical aspects of the quarterback’s game.
