Good listen, you all make some great points. Here in NC, ducks are very limited compared to your respective flyways and our population is growing rapidly, so unfortunately social media does continue to impact a couple very good places. People (myself included) do have to be careful when we post pile pictures/success. 90% of our ducks use a couple key areas and when word gets out "birds are here" every ramp will have 20 trucks. Lakes that use to have very little pressure never see a rest now, ducks or no ducks. People on the Refuge forum have whined for years, I remember in 2007 ish we were killing 4 man limits on public, blurring out the background of photos and people were still whining so we got so we would post "end of season" pictures. Keep up the good work guys, I think KZbin is a net positive for the sport

Being from NorCal to being stationed and staying in SoCal. There’s been a few videos that Titus has hunted on a public refuges here in California that I identified where him and a few of his friends were. However the way I look at it I love everything about our sport you make friends and hunt together don’t get mad hunt together. We all are in it together. Yall keep doing what you’re doing. Yall are actually doing good and getting more and more sportsman out and about to keep our waterfowling life alive. I could care less honestly about it. If anything yall have honestly helped me be a better hunter after being out of the sport since 2009 because of Active Duty and kickstarting back up in 2019. I look at things in a bigger picture we’re here all together to keep our passions alive.

The hating stems from the affects social media as a whole has had on society. As far as duck hunting social media goes, it has to be a net positive. It is probably the most effective way for growing the sport. It is the new form of print which has been going on forever with magazines/books etc. The negatives are the increased pressure has made the hunting more difficult. But the ideal picture would be the resources grow to a much greater rate from the increase in hunters/resources thus making the hunting better longterm. One with the worldview that SM is negatively impacting their hunting is thinking very short term and acting more selfishly than others that are growing/sharing the sport.

Elliott, you’ve stated repeatedly that you don’t see a crowding problem in KS. You are a weekend hunter, presumably there when there is the most pressure. If they’re seeing pressure, they need to spread their wings. My guess is it’s guys that treat one or two locations like it’s private land. Too lazy to go look for birds. Going to the usual spots. And it’s relative. People literally start lining up days before the openers at ramps in AR. On ANY given Saturday, we’ll be 5th-10th in line at the ramp at Catahoula Lake with 20 trucks already parked and more coming. I’ll video a regular Saturday or Sunday at the ramp this year. I’m not real sure the complainers in KS have a concept of what it’s like in places where duck hunting is truly part of the culture.

i can 100 % promise it has an effect. All it takes is one person to recognize a spot. Especially if it all green for people to research. That one person that has loose lips tell his buddy and then domino effect. Video travels more than words. If you like to rewatch videos,(i sure do), then just save them on your own storage devices. Is it so you can brag? or is it so you can watch them over and over again. Because like i said i watch my own videos on my tv.

Here is my opinion on that, don’t forget that the industry also depends of all those new hunters watching your videos and getting excited spending a whole lot of money in products that you advertise, there is not enough places to hunt for all your viewers and that’s why the invade “your public Lands”

The same thing applies to water swatting. People complain about that, but at the same time you tricked the ducks. That’s the whole point of decoy spreads and calling. If they land in the decoys and you can get a clean shot… who cares?

I wouldn't say social media ruined duck hunting. Just the duck dynasty series kinda had its hand in it but it also brought a ton of new folks to our sport just maybe not in the way we would like it to have happened. Now global warming, and ice heaters keeping holes open so birds dont push south like they used too ruined alot of duck hunting. Just my opinion
@ChasingGreen

I've heard people say duck dynasty brought new people in but the license sales don't show that at all. We've been on a steady decline since the 70's and now have about half the hunters we did then, according to the fws

Well another thing to take into account… is places like Nebraska where there is no limited draw…and non residents that have lost ground locally to hunt may see that as an opportunity to try something new… I hunt SD and there is the Missouri River boarders both states and the sandbars are wildly full on the river and they are all from Nebraska side of river because anyone and everyone can hunt there… but I would say no posting your hunts does not ruin anything… maybe people should go to your state and complain to them about the crowding of your state… and as far as locals go I know where you hunted… who cares I found them when the ducks where there so I hunted them non residents have no idea where you are… residents have just as much of an opportunity to hunt the same ducks you do… you just found them and hunted them first… so there complaint is completely irrelevant… and in my area there is like no local hunters anymore… why I don’t know duck hunting is really good in my area but they have quit hunting I see no one hunting anymore

I never knew duck hunting before Dynasty. Duckmen 1 came out in 94 and Dynasty in 2012. For a millennial to say SM ruined duck hunting is like saying lead shot bans ruined hunting. I never hunted without it being a reality. I know it's a hot topic right now but it's hard to talk about intelligently because of shifting baseline, the fact that SM influences every part of life, the fact that other tech proliferated at the same time. I feel like a frog in a boiling pot who was born when the pot was already hot.

Good day and God bless fellas. You guys are doing awesome work in the Waterfowl hunting community, just by being yourselves and sharing your passion for the lifestyle in a positive way .Some people are always going to have something to say of they’re not enjoying the success that others are, and for you who broadcast your hunts via KZbin there will always be people who are jealous/envious of that. And with the world openly mocking Christian’s, e.g the opening ceremony of the Olympics, we need strong Christian’s to share their faith anyway they can. Those people are betas for lack of another way to put it, and will rarely take accountability for what they’re doing in their own lives. Titus we met in the Grasslands with my old man during the veterans hunt, but I’ve followed all 3 of you for years now subscribed under my other account Mr.EMicks. I just subbed to all of you again under my actual hunting channel, and hope to start posting content myself this season. You are brothers in the Lord, and I’m grateful that you guys are out there sharing faith and the outdoors. Keep doing what you do, the woke haters will be dealt with in God’s time and way. God bless and good hunting fellas, take care and be safe!

Good points about spot burning. But are you speaking just to spot burning or are you speaking to the impact on the image of hunting? There certainly are some negative consequences to hunting content on social media. If your videos depict good behavior (and they do) than you are acting as a counterbalance against the bad actors. Regarding the recruitment of new hunters, it is unknown if the number of people turned off by social media exceeds the number of new hunters recruited into the sport. I guarantee you that all competent parents evaluate their children's interests in new hobbies and observe the people in those activities. If you think that a large number of parents do not become repulsed by a large number of waterfowl hunters, then you need to think harder and longer. Independent of parental control, the better educated and/or the smarter people, including kids, are going to be put off. Like I said, you three guys conduct yourselves respectively, keep it up, I am not sure what else anybody can do...
@ChasingGreen
@ChasingGreen Ай бұрын
I don't see it that way. The vast majority of those filming, meaning youtube are good examples imo. There a few bad actors but they are in the majority. Especially in waterfowl as I know personally the majority of creators getting the majority of the views. And we've all had literally thousands of viewers who said they got into waterfowling solely because of the videos. Never had anyone say they were turned off and quit/didn't start hunting because of them. Even the ones I don't agree with how they present themselves have a net positive on the amount they bring in. Id say other than close relatives/friends, nothing is even coming close to the recruitment power of social.

Hello Jake. I think you guys do it in an absolute ethical way and agree with all of your points. I feel you also do a good job of keeping the spots ambiguous, although like you said locals will know. People can learn a lot from watching your channels, I know I have. I remember 15 - 20 years ago when social media was getting bigger, a lot of the self glorification (as Elliot mentioned) caused issues. People back then didn’t take care to edit and posted exact dates and times. The damage was done and multiple trucks would be competing for the same goose field or crammed into the same state game land. I always look forward to your videos and appreciate the way you do it.

Duck hunting almost completely ruined in Arizona since Duck Dynasty happened... all of a sudden everyone thinks they're Uncle Sy and starting jumping holes and stock tanks and sky busting and wailing on duck horns constantly. Hunter numbers increased exponentially with the all the forums, YT and ON X. It's fun to watch videos and get together with other hunters but in a place with little water- it has been disastrous

@@ChasingGreen been to Arkansas SEVERAL times bub. Good friends with several people in your neck of the woods. Hunted Bayou Meto, private around DeWitt, up out of Pocahontas, etc. it’s a zoo now. Used to be a wonderful place to hunt ducks. My good friend the late Gary McCree and I would talk quite a bit over the years. His southern Illinois haunts had all but dried up with opportunities. He would say it was like a cancer eating its way up the flyways from the south. You seem like a solid guy. I’ve watched a few of your videos. But I don’t think there’s any need to share every hunt on social media. You referenced Zink & others. I know a lot of these guys from my competition calling days. The difference is not everyone was carrying a mobile computer around. You had to buy a VHS tape & later a DVD. Social media platforms are EVERYWHERE! Like comparing apples to oranges. We can agree to disagree. Keep grinding have a great & safe season.

I'm simply saying I've hunted in some of the most pressured places there are to hunt and even there, as long as the ducks are around (aka weather) pressure never seems to be a problem for good hunters. In a lot of cases, not all, but a lot...skill trumps pressure. A minority of people though are blaming pressure for their inability to kill ducks and then in turn blaming social media. I could never imagine blaming someone else as to why I can't kill ducks. That just seems crazy to me. Again, not saying there is no truth in some of this but it is way over exaggerated in many circles. It has become an excuse for some people in my opinion. I know way to many hunters and I myself cover way too much public and for none of us to be having problems... it's not as wide spread of an issue as some people make out. I've been duck hunting for 30 years and had my best year ever last year. I know tons of hunters that to them, duck hunting is as good as it ever was. I'm just trying to say to people, stop blaming non res, social media, state departments, federal gov, and everything else as to why they struggle. Duck Hunting is a skill and it takes effort and everyone that I know that puts the effort in, kills ducks at one point or another. Granted pop is struggling and will be felt if we don't get a rebound, unless someone's lying, hunters numbers are at their lowest point ever.
