EXTREMELY helpful video! I was thinking of getting a G9ii but I have an A7C and 5 lenses, so the A6700 can use all those lenses and based your assessment, it'll be a smarter buy for me. Thanks so much! Tip: I'm a professional video editor and I notice you mention you record your videos at the 600 mb/s setting. This is overkill and placebo bitrate. KZbin recommends an upload bitrate of 45 mb/s for 4k footage 30 fps and below. You can record at 50 mb/s or 100 mb/s (if you want some overhead for color grading) to save on storage and file transfer times. You, and your viewers, won't notice any difference in quality once it's on KZbin.

Wow.. Thank you so much for the tip. I find that HS codec @280mb/s is really good and I am using it right now. I will see how the other bitrates are working for me. Thank you for the info. Great tip! :) Thank you for watching the video and I am glad it was helpful. :)

@@AlissaAndJay Yeah man! Try it out. I have a client who does professional cooking videos for a top brand in the US. They use Blackmagic cameras and shoot at a bitrate of 200 mb/s. For KZbin uploading/vlogs, anything past 100 is going to be placebo and will just eat up storage space / make transfer speeds take longer. Go down to 50 or 100, you won't see any difference, and it will help with overheating issues as well! All the best.

Nice video! Something I’m considering as well. It seems to me the G9ii is better for photography (has better IBIS and live composite etc), but the 6700 for video (it has more tools in that regard). As such, it depends on your priorities. Weather sealing likely better I suspect in that regard as well on the Pan. Are there many weather sealed lenses for the Sony? I’m still torn, prefer the size of the Sony on the short end, but long end Pan seems a much better fit. The OP3 and the Sony seem like a great travel camera set up.

Hi, thanks for watching and I hope You have watched the video till the end. Please let me know what your priorities are. In this video I mainly talk about Sony A6700 and not all Sony cameras. This particular camera is pretty well whether sealed so you don't have to worry about it. There is varied degrees of weather sealing among the Sony cameras. For example, if you consider the FX30, they seem to be more weather sealed than the Sony A6700. If you consider Zv-E10 version 2, that is less weather sealed than the A6700. So if you go higher up the price ladder, the better weather sealed cameras you get. But that may not be always the case, because ZV-E1 seem to be less for the sealed than A7Cii. Purchasing decisions have never been this hard and you really need to use the camera to see of you like the image quality before making your purchase.

do you have any overheating issues with the 6700? Only thing holding me back
@AlissaAndJay
@AlissaAndJay 3 ай бұрын
If you film in 600Mbps format for more than 5 minutes, yes, it gets hot. But shows overheat warning in 20 minutes mark but get really hot and shuts down at about 30 minutes. But while travelling I shoot shots bursts for not more than 10 minutes. If that's your style of filming, it shouldn't be a problem for you. If you shoot in HS mode, you will need to be in a very hot environment and record for really long time to get it to overheat. But yeah, it will overheat. But to be honest, FX30 heats up pretty fast as well. But sustain it heat longer than A6700. G9ii heats up too.. Most cameras at this price range heats up. But yeah, shouldn't be an issue. If you want to record long format videos like lectures, events, etc, then this may not be the camera for you and also if you have an a6700 and you want to record for a prolonged period of time, then you should choose HS or S format 4K.

If you are not looking for a travel vlogging camera, you don't mind the weight and if you need 6k internal RAW recording, then z6iii. For travel vlogs, for most cases a6700 will do. Z6iii is more useful in many other cases and it is almost double the price. So it depends on your needs. There's always something better than what we need. But understanding what we need is essential.

I am assuming you might want to do it professionally at some point in the future. Also, I am assuming that you are still not in either Sony or Nikon systems yet, but considering them. Considering that, you will need a - Fullframe camera for better low light capability. - Zoom telepoho lens for versatility. - You are more likely to use a monopod / tripod, so weight is secondary. I suggest No FF camera from Sony cos they do not provide good value for money unlike the Nikon cameras. You can either decide on Z6iii or Z8 with 70-200mm, 100-400 or 180-600mm lens depending on your shooting style. I'd prefer Z8 over Z6iii. Canon do have fantastic cameras and lenses too. R5C is very light to use and you can go with Canon R5C/R5(used) or even R6ii(used)+ 100-500mm lens. I suggest using USED Canon cameras as they will be replaced soon to a newer version. This is another choice you can consider. There is 1 more choice: Lumix S5ii / Sony A1 (if you have the budget) Sigma 60-600mm (heavy lens but very versatile. If you are using a tripod. This could be your ideal set up. I am giving you the above choice as I saw one of your videos and looks like you film with tripod.

Very interesting video ! Actually it brought some concerns I wasn't even looking for/to clear out in the 1st place, which makes my decision cursor shift a bit : → looking for a cam B , the A being a Lumix S5 IIX. So far, great tool for me, but it's also the 1st actual cam I've ever own, so I don't have much perspective & experience. ♦ main usage : - Vlog ; - discover new places I don't know to be safe enough to cary around too expsv gear ; - for planned riskier shots than usual (not a priority though, bc I could use smartphone for that) ; - & unpredicted situations I'd like to have the cam with me in, but wouldn't bring the FF gear (mainly $$ & weight), & need high practicality (AF again plays a role, IBIS/no Gimbal as well) ♦ The main criterias I look for would be : - light (which is why your criticism of the whole µ4/3 system VS whole APSC made a lot of sense, as I plan on favorising primes) ; - good IBIS, as I want to avoid buying+carrying a Gimbal, just a tripod & hand minipod ; - with different advantages from the S5IIX ideally, so that I can use each to specific applications they fit best, 1 of these applies for AF, being better on Sony ; - ideally good in low light, as the unpredicted situations could include events at night ; - & the best $$/perf ratio on all that, considering that the cheaper it is, the + confident I'll be carrying it around in any condition ; - weather seal is also a factor but not a deal breaker, so 2ary. I was considering : ♦ Lumix G9 (not II), as it's still an excellent all rounder, for photo & video, & seems like a keeper for long term, for film-making & more pro usage I'm planning to get into, while I wouldn't go below it in term of perf & features for the $$. Basically, its price is its main strong point to me, as that's what would make bring it with least concern, replace/upgrade it at some point if the need be, & not be upset if x happened to it ; ♦Fuji X-T4 & 5 , but the AF isn't good enough to be a non-issue, IBIS either, & quite $$ compared to the G9, while it ticks at least the stab box ♦Fuji XS-20 , would have to look + into its limitations again, but I don't remember it being a top contester to me.. ♦Sony A6400, but 4K30, meh colors, 8bit, crappy battery, & no IBIS ; too much cons, so... ♦A6600 ? Still bad IBIS, bad view finder, meh menu system, fewer buttons & options, but could deal with it? I may forget other limitations ♦A6700, basically fixes most stuff, ticks most boxes in the end , but a bit $$ for my use case ; would buy it used/refurb probably What do you think? Thanks

Thanks for your comment. I hope you watched the entire video. I suggest you to check out my other videos as well. I've made travel videos both using A6700 and G9ii and I've even talked about the S5ii which I've used in the past but never owned. 1. For your G9 consideration: MFT cameras can perform well in low light if you have the brightest of the brightest of the lenses. Which will increase your cost significantly up! Been in the loop and regret it. I used to have G9ii with MFT 9mm F1.7, 12mm F1.4 and 25mm F1.4. None of these even come close to the results I get with the Sony A6700 with 11mm F1.8, 15mm F1.4 and 27mm F1.2. On top of that, since you are using S5iix, you will be terribly disappointed with the amount of noise you get even in the lower ISOs from the MFT. Travel videos with G9ii: kzbin.info/www/bejne/h2XJmKRpdqudfrssi=epam3ZYIYsUF3Tki kzbin.info/www/bejne/e5_Nf2WgoaaliKMsi=VrcF20xEL0MP1RER kzbin.info/www/bejne/r3vbqJVnjs-WeZY kzbin.info/www/bejne/gWnEm3-LqtZ_gsU Travel videos with A6700: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pJmslWylo7pmj7ssi=DCCPBdSA2aY-F9gY kzbin.info/www/bejne/gKSVl4OelMmghtksi=cFo5bxHyIpuNOuil Low light: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gHjaiISXrNKmmLMsi=DLOV2_YVhGw5LfHq Hiking: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rISpineZjbaJp68si=u4GRFugnd1ZL3_2_ 2. For your Fuji consideration: I would suggest against XT4/5 and X-S20 for videos with AF. If you are using MF, any of these cameras will perform fantastic! Photos and video quality are awesome and I still love my X-T4 which was my go to camera! I used to have all sorts of prime lenses and zoom lenses for that camera: 10-24mm F4, 23 F2, 13mm F1.4 (my go to lens with the X-T4), 50mm F1.0, 30mm F2.8 macro, etc. In low light though, the video will be grainy but totally usable. 2 main disadvantages: Poor IBIS and AF. Honestly, I quite like X-S20 but wouldn't use it as I would use the Sony A6700. Comparison b/n X-S20 and X-T4: kzbin.info/www/bejne/lWXbZ56pos99f8ksi=aamok4dJKozMsaG6 Travel Videos using X-T4: Extreme low light with Gimbal: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nYrKqYp4ZbmjjqMsi=NHSZGLZ9MHPRtrGs Waterfalls with Gimbal: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oJ6TlnmAfdtnhNEsi=HDoiQ1IG8OHjtJDV Star timelapse: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qpjVkGt8ptGdjq8si=p2W-QEXUjQOCMtyV Cooking: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mJuyY4ung9J_q8Usi=JjlcuPvuY6emeTDY 3. Sony's 8-bit colors are bad. I wouldn't suggest you to get any other cameras except A6700 in the Sony ecosystem if budget is the constraint. Every other good performing cameras in the Sony ecosystem is exponentially more expensive and cheaper cameras are just bad. As much as I hate Sony, I am sticking with A6700 because it offers the best compromise on every aspect. Do not consider anything in the Sony APSC line up except A6700 or FX30 (if video is your priority). You should checkout this video why?: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hXXMi2iPdr6hjMksi=D7znYLAtTDlwgsJs The APSC lenses are really well made and not too expensive and so, I suggest you to make your cost calculations overall. I would suggest you to get Sony A6700 + 11mm F1.8 + either 15mm F1.4 or Sigma 18-55 F2.8 for versatile conditions. Here is a quick idea on the FOV comparison: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jJiwioBqo9qZm6ssi=Zql4BQJybwJ7TrEd Hope this helps.

Sure, thanks. This is the reason I make such videos. If my videos help people to spend their hard earned cash wisely, I am happy. There is a lack of useful reviews in the internet. Most reviewers review products for the sake making review content and I am a victim of listening to them. The wise thing to do is use the camera more than once, see if that camera is THE tool for you and then make your purchase. As much as I am tempted to buy the GH7, I know the MFT has its limitations and so, I will not! LOL. I strongly believe that by mid 2025, some awesome and amazing value cameras will be released. Stay tuned.

It seems to be a good lens from all the reviews but I haven't use it. If you pair it with a full frame camera, then you have just about the wide angle focal length of 35 and tele focal length of 150. It's not quite 24mm wide or 200mm tele. I don't think it is a lens for me. Also pairing it with an APSC camera is pointless. It is a heavy lens too. I've heard a lot of people using it for weddings and if it is your focal length, you can go for it.

Hi, Thanks for the comment. I understand your concern now. Let me explain the situation. I am sorry if you have read my earlier reply, I feel it could use a lot of editing, so here is my full edited comment. I don’t know your background and I hope you appreciate photography as much as I do. I love photography and I understand the limitations of the MFT sensor size after using OM1 and G9ii. Yes, for a brief period, I used the OM1 too. I really wanted to shift to the MFT system as I thought the system was lighter and could fulfill my needs. But unfortunately for me I really wasn’t happy with the outcome. Even I made a video about how the G9ii is the best hybrid camera before buying it. But after using it for my trips, my opinions changed. The message I am trying to convey in this video is: Before considering GH7/G9ii, there are other better cameras that might be more useful for you and make you happier than the ultimate camera in the market (maybe even Z8 or A1 or R5). You need to find your stone. I stand by my analysis even though I haven't tested the sensor of the camera because the camera uses the same sensor. Let me be blunt here: people rely upon their favorite reviewers to make their purchase decisions. Have they tested the camera themselves if it works for them? When I talk about a sensor I’ve used in the past and a newer camera coming up with the same sensor, It is very safe to say that the sensor carries the same limitations as the previous cameras. Your concern about me is good! I appreciate it. This is what I want. I want you to be concerned about all the reviewers as we don’t know what we really need unless we use it ourselves and check if the product suits our needs or not. Just because anything is said to be ultimate doesn’t mean that you will be happy with it. This is the world now. You will hear more of it from more reviewers. I used to adore Chris and Jordan. But now, I sooo want to make a video about them, how they changed into shills over the past years. They were being honest in their Camera Store TV days. Now they've started to downplay or skip important bad decisions from manufacturers just so they can get perks from them, push content in PetaPixel and yeah ultimately make money. They aren't that reliable anymore. I suggest you watch more honest reviewers like Gerald Undone but still be a skeptic. They can crown whatever they want; I can say whatever I want. But your concern is correct, watching my video. Just because they had the chance to hold the camera and use it and hopefully "tested it", doesn't mean they are delivering what's accurate. Not saying that they are lying. It's just, GH7 is ultimate for them and perhaps they are happy with the results from the sensor, photography perspective. I've worked with a lot of GH5, GH6 owners and they would prefer GH5 over GH6 any time of the day as they GH5 works better for them. I've also received many comments from my previous video that people are happy with G9ii. I don't mind. If you are happy with the limitations of the tool, I am happy for them that they found the right tool for them. Unlike reviewers, I buy my cameras, use them in real life and I report the issues based on what I experience. I don't get early access for any camera. I am not even a reviewer. I am just an experienced photographer and a video enthusiast. They get their cameras for review purposes and they can buy them later if they decide to settle upon it. You should take everyone's opinion with a grain of salt. I hope you can see the difference in photos between a Full Frame camera, APSC camera, MFT cameras, and smartphones. I've used several versions of sensors to bring me to the conclusion that the sensor results cannot be improved much over camera generations. Even if there are improvements, it could be due to better cooling solutions to contain noise and computations to enhance the photos, which make it worse by making it digital. This applies for any camera. I hope you get the idea. I am sorry to disappoint you by not holding the camera. I still stand by my analysis. I just hope you don’t make any purchase decisions based on reviewers. Honest question, have you used G9ii? Are you happy with the results?

The photo of waterfall @15:54 is a high res shot. It took 5 shots to get this shot and it took 5-10 seconds to process each photo. That specific spot was filled with a lot of people and it was too much of a disturbance for everyone due to me occupying that space for myself. I need to use high res shot to get good dynamic range and spend a lot of time for 1 image with G9ii while every frame of A6700 can produce good dynamic range images. If you have all the time in the world to use these high res images, that's great. But usually, travelling to multiple locations in a trip, for me, has time constraints. I can't afford to spend time. I want the tool to work for me not the other way around. Yes, this is a video to praise A6700 for travel film making and I do give examples all the way. Richard Wong can tell his opinion. You are happy to trust a reviewer than a real life user sharing his experience who makes a lot of travel content for his channel. It is up to you. End of the day, the message is to test your tools if it suits your needs before you make the purchase.
