I've been and still using Sony phones since my very first phone, by that time it was a Sony Ericsson, so almost 15 years now. Even though I am always supporting Sony, it's undeniable that they are not able to compete with the other phones like iPhone, Samsung or Huawei in some features, but overall, they keep their spirit. I hope they can get back to the race with more creative innovations, instead of just focusing on camera hardware (which is, by the way, already top).

I used to own the Xperia 10 IV, there were many features that I liked about this phone but as a mid range phone it was way too underpowered and slow in my view than other phones within this segment. However the key thing here is Sony Xperia phones only come with 2 years of software support which is the lowest out there and if your spending £500-£1000 on a new phone that is only going to last you two years, it makes no financial sense (poor investment). On the other hand Samsung phones, many of their phones provide 5 years of software support, which makes more sense so no Sony is not better. If money is no object and you want to change your phone every year then no problem. £500-£1000 your talking iphone money here and Apple also provide 5-7 years software support, why would you go for one that only provides two years before you have to buy another phone?

I actually always appreciated it, that the Xperria isn't doing so much processing and stuff to images and Videos. It gave me the opportunity to do that myself. Maybe its just me, but smartphone footage mostly looks so artifical and overprocessed.. for me it is a nightmare to work with, everytime someone wants me to make a video out of footage from something like a Sony a7III or an fx6 and to mix that with something shot on an Iphone 13 or so. I agree, that the AI processing is pretty amazing, and out of the box the Samsungs and iphones have a much more pleasing image quality. But most of the footage shot on those devices is still very easy to determin as "Smartphone footage" because everything is way to sharp, colors are to bright and they almost always seem to mess up skin-tones. I always liked, that my Xperia XZ2 kind of skipped that process to produce a more "realistic" image. Or probably I just don't want the image AI to become better, because in the End it means that I will loose my Job. I mean, who needs expensive post-production and grading and stuff, if the AI in your phone is doing the job. xD
