You described it almost perfectly. It lost its purity. Speed Run 4 was one of those rare few gems in Roblox which was fun gave me that classic nostalgia feel. I remember going back to it every few years, and it gave me that classic nostalgia feeling of old Roblox that you CANNOT fake or replicate. There's a reason why the game has billions of visits. I'm extremely saddened to see that we won't get that experience back, because it's been completely transformed, for the worst.

For me, Speed Run 4 started losing its charm when they changed the music. I still remember that the second volcano stage used to have the Agni Kai theme. That’s just one example of the many songs they changed that I wished they kept. I’ve only beaten it 18 times, and I don’t really like it anymore.

On level 6, they might not have been cheating, since there was a glitch I called "Ice hopping", where if you held space on the water on level 6, you could jump on the water without dying. I couldn't find a fast way to the exit, but if they did, then it could be theoretically possible to get their times. Or they were cheating.

They ended up making a nightmare edition which sucks, bad. The only differences in the nightmare edition is a reskinned scp-096 (i am not kidding.) chases you, and if you stop moving for even ONE second, it will catch up and "jumpscare" you with the most deepfried and eye hurting visuals I have ever seen in my life. Also, in the nightmare edition, they made the atmosphere much darker on every level so you can almost never see where you're going. there's no room for errors to be made, like Speedrun 4's base allowed, and the monster's programming is god awful. They ruined everything Speedrun 4 was loved for, and I hate it so much. I had so much fun trying to get deathless runs in the game, and now I feel rage and disappointment just looking at the game's page. It's been wittled down to nothing more than a paywalled sim game.

this is an insane overexaggeration, while i do agree that nightmare mode is bad the changes it makes are not nearly that difficult, you can pretty easily stop moving for a full second (maybe even longer) and still not die. the "almost never see where youre going" thing is just a complete lie lol the game cannot possibly be that dark unless your monitor brightness is down most of the increased difficulty in nightmare mode comes from actual map changes for levels 30-44 which i thought were okay but i believe not all levels got changes for some reason and the ones that did get changes were pretty lackluster being just smaller platforms and tighter jumps

Nightmare mode is just a little halloween joke, they used to make different speedrun 4 games in the past too like speedrun 4 mirrored. This hurts so much to see. I used to play the beta version with Vurse back in the days, didn't know them personally but I spent a lot of time as a test dummy on the public early access. They always seemed so nice and very passionate about the development, at least back then. I stopped playing a long time ago back when some music originally got changed due to copyright issues, but I had hoped that would at least be the end with the issues. . Not that the music changing was bad, I'm just autistic and struggle with changes, it felt too wrong to play after that haha

Pets single-handedly caused the downfall of roblox games. Although better games have come out since the pet meta was made, it turns almost all games into soulless cash grabs, and micro transactions should be moderated so much more in a predominately children’s game. Starting with adopt me, the first year it was out it was just a well made family roleplay game where you take care of another player, just like a good life in paradise. Soon enough, they were maybe the first to add pets. This became a gateway to limited editions, gambling and IRL trading. In a kids game. For neons and megas, you need to gamble enough real money for enough rare pets, put hours into the game (or fast track it with more money) just for a better looking pet, all for what? Unless you illegally trade it for money, you only have it to either trade it for something just as good or to show off that you do have it. (I didn’t realise how passionate I am about this until I started typing lol)

Needing to stand and pay for the portals is bad for another reason too. One the first runs it removes the cool trick shots into portals that I know for a fact everyone did

And the new owner supports ai, something absolutely horrible, so yes. Speed Run 4 has been ruined. I played in 2016-2019 and i miss it. (i writ this using no ai)

I feel your Pain, man. I was the same with Dungeon Quest. I used to have all passes, lvl 210, almost solid gear. Played all the time. Until the game was bought by Voldex and ran it to the ground. Edit: Just saw your other video about this and at least Vurse listens to community feedback, unlike Voldex. I still hate Dungeon Quest's current updates, but I can see why Speedrun 4 could've been saved.

I swear when I joined the first time, I actually had to make sure it was the right game and not some knock-off. When I found out it was the actual game, DEVASTATED and in SHOCK. They clearly just want more money and it ruins the whole point of the game. Its become a trend now days to see simulator games like this which sucks bad. Man I played this years ago. I played back when there were literal teams instead of the level section for each player on the leaderboard, and it was just like map skins or whatever instead of worlds. This update is bad (with the pets and stuff not maps and fixes), blatant cash grab with the pets and stuff they ruined the game for me in my opinion (maybe a little harsh), new maps are cool though. 16:18 YOO IT IS MY BIRTHDAY THANK YOU! I am so glad the developer made a copy called "Speed Run 4 Classic" so people could actually play the game they know and love. This new version is just sad, they became an unoriginal simulator like the rest. Buying the levels also kinda defeats the purpose of "Speedrunning".
