I'm an old guy. I like mint tubes of sovereign bullion coins. I still enjoy the gradual filling of these with my continuing purchases. I want everything I hand down to be easy to enjoy and/or liquidate.

I pretty much agree with what you said. I'm stack pretty much rounds/coins and 10 oz bars. I don't own any weight that's over 10 oz each. I also like to keep about 20% collectable silver for times when spot is low. Collectables are harder to sell but they usually hold there value especially during low spot price times.

Great topic yes I agree with your format of the 50% round 25% coins, 25% heavy bars over the past 10 years of only purchase 2 kg bars but everything else is 5 ounce and 10 ounce bars… And I am stacking for Retirement

My plan is to use my silver bars when the gold silver ratio becomes more favorable and I exchange for gold. That would start to be interesting around 65 GSR. I'll save the 1 oz for bartering.

Stacking weight is great if you can time the sale of your stack with a period of high demand. If you dont know the timing then Sovereigns are the way to go...especially the American Silver Eagles. In Real Estate they say buy the waterfront if you can afford it.

I usually go for weight, but ive been buying more Eagles the last few years when I can get them at a goodprice. LCS sold me six tubes of 2023 eagles for $2.50 over spot last month, so I got no complaints. I dont buy high premium stuff ever under any circumstances.

unless your states legal tender laws only apply to US government minted coins which many do. then you want eagles.

I bought no bigger then 10 oz. No body wants larger. Bars don't hold much value. Totally agree with you. Nice job!!
@jimalberts588310 ай бұрын
Bars of 10oz. are a good way to start. $250 won’t be hard to find a buyer. At$50/oz., the bar is still only $500. LCS will buy. I would not need a smaller amount of money to cash in for an emergency. If you buy rounds, I think you should go with low premium stuff that you enjoy. Low premium being the key.

I've stacked over my weight in large bars. I even own a 1000oz. bar just because. I dont have one cent of debt so I don't have to worry about selling to pay the bills. If silver goes up in my lifetime to an acceptable degree, I'll sell, but I won't be selling to some small coin shop owner who won't be able to afford it. Large bars arent hard to liquidate, you just have to be smart about it. The premium on 1oz. coins is higher than the $2.25 bar spread, and according to your numbers, they're going to lose those premiums when they sell anyway. You would actually do better monetarily by selling bars. Please correct me if I misunderstood you on this.

You make good points, but perhaps it depends on what region you live in. I have never had any trouble whatsoever unloading 10-ounce silver bars, and any of my local coin shops within a 30-mile radius would accept them enthusiastically and give me a great price.

I used to stack weight for silver when I started stacking last year. Now I lean mostly to silver rounds and some 90%.
@Malice_Lonewolf10 ай бұрын
heavy silver bars are hard to sell though. You can still stack weight - 90% junk silver is the way as its easiest to store and in a shtf moment its fractional by nature.

I only buy small denomination . one ounce rounds and goldbacks.. Not as easy to fake. And if I buy a fake one ounce im only out a little money.. If I buy a fake bar I'm out way more money. Plus smaller denominations spend easier in every day use. In fact i just recently swapped out a bar checked on an xrf meter...for its equivalent in goldbacks and silver one ounce bullion

Enjoyed the video. I subscribed. I love the spreadsheet you created. Now I have to make one for myself....😂 I think your percentage of silver types are a good spread. And I agree with you on the type of Gold you purchase. I am interested to know what your silver to gold ratio target is? Currently, I'm am looking to get my PM portfolio at a 25% silver value and a 75% gold value. So I'm still buying silver when it makes since, but am focusing on gold as my primary focus in order to get my gold weight up.

Good question. I'm at about 40% gold now and wanting to increase that. Not sure where I want it. Been hoping to rotate out of kilo silver into gold. Buying mostly gold this year and will probably end the year at 50% gold.

@EroticOnion2310 ай бұрын
For bartering, VAST majority of people do not know silver history, with junk-silver they'll probably think you're just trying to rip them off lol...so unless you carry around a history book you'd likely not convince anyone (main reason I don't like ASE, since they say "one dollar" on them). This is not even touching on the premiums...buuuut if you flash a shiny 999 pure silver round/bar at them, they'll at least know it's worth something if nothing more than watching the Olympic medal ceremonies...😆
@PHUCKyoutube6899 ай бұрын
If they don't have the knowledge to read a date on a Constitutional and know it's silver, they are not going to have the knowledge to know if your round or bar is real. They woupd probably decline that as well. I have stamped jewlery to trade with them. They usually understand jewlery marks.
