What's funny is that girls that are tall are considered great candidates for sports teams , modeling, and a lot of men and women love tall girls . Sure mabye a few people might not be attracted to tall girls but that's no different from women not likeing short men . People have preferences and are entitled to them .

I grew up in Japan and I hit 5'9" at 12, so I was the tallest girl in school, but never was I bullied or put in such cringe situations. Like sure I felt self conscious every now and again and wished to be shorter, but never to this movies extent. Also there were boys still near or taller than me, I hate how they intentionally cast everyone to be short. And I was also attracted to shorter guys, like I'm the last to judge on height. I could go on this movie annoys me so much 😅

While it stopped in high school, it's true that there was name calling, especially from boys who still hadn't had their growth spurt during early school years and felt the need to make fun of her. As a 6'6 very large man, this movie hurts to watch. Yes there are cons to being tall, like ALWAYS standing out in a crowd which is bad for social anxiety xd, always hitting my head on shit, and I'll die sooner on average haha. Also, maybe I'd have knee and hip pain if I didn't exercise. Yet to pretend like it's some kind of curse???? yeah no... people would kill to be as tall as I am. Seb is on the money, the advantages of being tall make the cons seem insignificant. It's not a free pass with women though, but it helps A LOT... I can see how it wouldn't be ideal for a woman as even I most times prefer shorter women. I will say though that some of the most beautiful women I've ever seen have been over 6'0. She is 6'1 though, she isn't even freakishly tall which makes this that much harder to watch. I am by definition freakishly tall at the average NBA height lol. Edit: also, custom ordering pants after a 34 inseam (im a 36) is also a con. Also, now that I've finished the video... the acting and writing has gotta be more cringe than the premise. Dear lord.

The first time I watched the movie, I thought it was sweet. But now that I watch it again in this way…oh man, it’s super cringe. The characters aren’t likeable and the writing is bad. The only thing I thought they got right was the mindset she had after being bullied for so long- thinking it was her whole identity and playing the victim. Because that’s EXACTLY how I started thinking after being bullied for 5+ years. I thought I was doomed to be the ostracized, quiet, “nerdy” girl who was only valued for her grades and I wouldn’t shut up about it. It took an additional 5+ years of on-and-off therapy for me to get over that and re-wire my thoughts and finally create some self-esteem. Also, to comment on the bullying thing more…many people get bullied for little to no reason. Me, I got bullied by middle school guys because I was the quiet girl in sweats that did puzzles in the corner of the classroom, and was bullied by girls because I was a pretty good gymnast back in the day. Some people get bullied because people are jealous of them, or because there’s nothing wrong with them and the bullies are just terribly cruel. I really think they could’ve showcased the bullying in a more meaningful way- but the characters and writing really ruined the whole thing, to the point where no one can take the lessons of the film seriously.
@kenzij Жыл бұрын
I feel you on the mindset thing, people really decide who they think you are and then beat you into believing their right. Sidenote. Do you think the movie would've been better if they were in, say, middle school? Cause reconsidering it now, it all seems very 12 year old.

So I'm 6'1 and have been since I was like 14. 1 thing is that I do live in the Netherlands which is the country with highest average height, but there were still many guys shorter than me (especially around 14, but even later obviously). Sure people make comments, but even shit like 'how's the weather up there' is not really mean, I generally took it as a compliment or just guys being insecure, which is fine. I even had a guy friend who was really short whose face was like boob height, which we both always made jokes which was fun. When others made jokes about it anyone could tell he wasn't super into it, which imo makes a lot more sense than me being mad about it. I've honestly never been insecure about my height, it gives a lot of advantages in certain situations (concerts!!!) and it honestly works for sorting out guys who feel too insecure.

I absolutely hate this movie, I'm 5'11 and my bf is 6'1 and the difference in our height is unseeable. A girl that tall is not THAT tall as it's portrayed here 😭 But tbf being a tall girl is hard in a way especially when you're mid built and ur face card isn't giving. You're the "ugly" friend in the group since you look so much bigger than the other girls, there's only few guys who don't mind that. In dating apps I had to put my height on my profile, cuz I got rejected so many times after telling the dudes how tall I was, guess they were insecure. But also I have a very bad posture cuz since I was a kid I've tried to make myself look smaller, no self conidence in the height at all. But the way it's portraid here is so bad and cringey... It affects your self confidence a lot and I do wish I was shorter. Not to even mention the struggle on finding fitting clothes!

I mean, being tall as a woman can be a massive insecurity - I've never been outwardly bullied for my height (5'9) but I've always been one of the tallest girls. I guess when media pushes the ideal of either a petite woman or a tall model-like woman and you don't fit either it can be really hard to overcome that. In saying that, this movie does a dogshite job of portraying that message, it's honestly a joke. Living in a bigger body as a woman sucks sometimes when messaging - whether direct comments or messaging through movies, songs, tv shows - tells you the ideal isn't what you are. And I know that people who don't have that insecurity don't see the big deal, but yeah. Just sucks i guess lol. I love books right, and the amount of romance novels where the woman is tiny and the guy is giant is fkn wild. It's so annoying.

I’m a high schooler in the US, and at least in my school in California, homecoming or prom king and queen is definitely not that big of a deal as movies make it seem. People will vote for who they want to vote for, but honestly they don’t care and they don’t make it a big deal

Same. I'm from California too. I don't really remember it being that big of a deal either.

You should watch “bullet train”. It is a action/ comedy movie which stars Brad Pitt and in my own opinion, it is funny as hell.

I was 6f girl when I was 12 years old, no one ever make fun of me because of my height o.O I always had advantages because of my height.

I liked this movie more than I thought I would and I thought the box kiss was sweet maybe there's something wrong with me 😂

considering the average height for a girl is around 5ft5. been 6ft1 would be considered unusual
@katielee7364 Жыл бұрын
I don't think 5'5 is the average anymore, I'm 5'5 and there were plenty of taller girls then me, I had at least three friends that were 6ft the only Time I was taller then most everyone was when I worked with mostly Hispanic women, Their Average height seems to be shorter

Yes, the movie is absurd and cringe af, but being bullied for whatever reason is bad and feels horrible. If that is the worst thing she's experienced, then that is the worst feeling she knows. I was bullied for being skinny (I was also relatively tall, so I got those comments as well) and it made me so insecure for years to come. Hell, even now, in my late 20s, I still catch myself being self conscious about being tall and skinny. Yes, I know how it sounds and that is exactly my point. Love your reactions and I wrote this with the best intentions and I hope you take it that way. I just thought you might appreciate an input from someone who was bullied for something that society actually sees as desirable.

I wholeheartedly agree, but that still doesn’t justify the intro in which she said "You think YOUR life is hard?". It’s completely tone deaf, she undermined everyone else’s problems with that. Like bullying is shitty, trauma is valid and she doesn’t deserve it… But her attitude is so incredibly self-centered, that’s why it’s still cringey

@@echofromafar oh I completely agree. The movie is awful. There are so many problematic things in this movie and it's so incredibly tone-deaf that I can't believe it was ever greenlit.

@@echofromafar She's also a teen, most teens are self-centered and focused on their issues and no one elses. It's quite accurate to how I experienced being a teen.

@@killinglonliness88 Yeah I kinda was like that as well actually. To some extent at least. That still doesn’t _justify_ acting so spoiled, especially about a topic that’s just simply not a common or too relatable issue. Gets even worse knowing that, you know, sexism and racism etc do exist. It simply doesn’t compare in the slightest with its heaviness but gets portrayed as this deep and complex thing. That’s why it’s so full of cringe imo. That’s really all I meant to say, I just don’t like undermining a wrongdoing just because it’s explainable or even understandable. It’s still wrong to do, period. Also it’s more the whole theme/writing than her character in itself that annoys me so much. It’s just so incredibly unrealistic and not even close to how teenagers interact with each other. You can practically still smell the scent of the middle aged white people who wrote that mess. I used to like the movie… and then I grew up, basically (doesn’t mean I want everyone to hate it or something, to each their own)
