The drum programming on the SX 920 sounds much better than I expected…. from an arranger keyboard .

@@WoodyPianoShack Indeed! I own the previous model, the SX900, and the drums sound fabulous. I think the acoustic and percussive instruments are a real strength of the top PSR models.

the main thing you have to watch with the J6 is that it uses power at a faster rate than it charges. so even if you leave it plugged in, if you leave it on the whole time it will run out of batteries, as it never runs directly from power input, that only charges. But leaving on charge introduces electrical noise to your system, so you have to keep remembering to unplug and then replug after recording.
@WoodyPianoShackАй бұрын
interesting point, thanks!

Wish they could have eeked out another 2 or 4 notes on that polyphony tbh. It does sound good though. Very good for £140 here.

I remember the Buster Gonad, Biffa Bacon,Fat Slags strips in Viz, great comic, great times in the '80s! I was playing a Juno 60 and a JX3P in those days, not live though, I was the guitarist! Are these official patch titles?
@fburton8Ай бұрын
I used to be an avid follower of Black Bag, the faithful border bin liner! I had a Juno 6.
@WoodyPianoShackАй бұрын
silly question!!! there are no patch titles. only numbers, for some reason these came to mind.

If those sounds are coming from that small unit - I might have to consider getting something like that for my EWI5000 and my other wind controllers - although switchable midi configurations would probably be a deal breaker!
@WoodyPianoShackАй бұрын
i bet the roland s1 would be even more suitable for that!
@DavideRuggerini28 күн бұрын
basically the J6 is nothing more than a 4-voice polyphonic synth ideal for creating pads and chords? Are the presets only editable in the envelope and filter? I would be interested in connecting it to a stage piano (my numa X) in order to have some pads to layer, what do you think?
@WoodyPianoShack28 күн бұрын
that is all correct, but there are 64 nice presets, it would do good for that, except 4 note is not enough for pads.
@colekeircomАй бұрын
Enjoyable as always Woody. Can I ask, is the midi out only configured to the right hand side of the PSR's keybed ? Thanks Kieron.
@WoodyPianoShackАй бұрын
hi and thanks, yes configured to use the RH1 part, which I have extended over the entire keyboard
@colekeircomАй бұрын
@@WoodyPianoShack Thanks for the quick reply . I had tried years ago on an older model to try to keep the left hand section just for the arranger, and to play a sound module with RH1, but failed. Extending RH1 as you did seems to be the way to go. Thanks again for the fun.

Hi Woody! Are you using the Yamaha PSR-SX920 as a MIDI controller for the Roland J-6? I guess what I'd like to say is I can do the same with the previous PSR model, the SX900, and the J-6. It sounds stunning, absolutely stunning!! Cheers - Tunka

only 4 voices, best modern option to have a modern Juno 60 is the System 8 with the Juno 60 plugout although more more expensive

I can't install Roland J-6 on Windows 11, it doesn't detect it, as if it didn't exist and also by USB it makes noise. And my system works well with all other instruments without any noise. I'm frustrated, it's a shame. (UPDATE:) The new f***** usb-c cable in the box is defective. (second update:) with the new usb cable the same nightmare happens again.

So, reclaiming the lounge lizard territory. I'll have a Strawberry Daiquiri😉 Four note polyphony is enough for me, on one synth. If not, they're so cheap you could buy a dozen for the price of an original Juno 60 on e-bay. Their boutique range has a hidden chain mode that enables poly-chaining. i wish they would implement that on the Aira synths too. But I'm sure it would be possible to implement that using the right combination of MIDI hardware and software. A sixteen voice Juno for under 800 euros anyone? ✌✌

Buy Zencore synth with 128 note poly It sounds basically indistinguishable To the 4-note ACB
