I believe we in the US got this as the Montero, which is no longer available. Suburban mums would pilot this to school or to the mall, with a big plastic luggage bin on the roof rails for ski's, as I live near skiing resorts. Haven't seen one in many years, many here have Range Rovers or Land Rovers. Always like rear theatre seating.

As the Pajero in Australia these have a very good reputation .Not the best 4WD wagon in any particular area but very good all round.They do what they were designed to do and are reliable,tough,good for towing,decent to drive ,decent off road and well engineered.They should have kept making them.

The Shogun MK1 was an absolute rot box, by the look of this one they've sorted that out, but not the quality of materials on the inside though as it sounded very 1980's still. Very trusting the garage owner lending his car for you to review Paul.

I love this channel man, been watching since the start. I've had several rovers - current one a 2000 - and I'm very glad to see someone taking care of them and giving them back a bit of pride. I'd love to collaborate on a video but mine's a photography channel so I don't know where the commonality would lie. Anyway all the best and keep on knockin 'em out, as it were!

@chrro466 Жыл бұрын
@@ProjectNigel I like the design and concept of the discovery just not the anxiety that woukd come with taking one into the outback. We need a vehicle that is reliable and can be fixed relatively easily.

@@chrro466 I am guessing you refer to the Australian Outback. Maybe others have had better experiences with Landcover than I have. One Freelander & a TD5 later, I've 'been there and done that' and never again. I think, in my opinion, the problem with Landies is the after service or lack thereof. I gained the feeling that Landcover kind of gave up on Australia. Which is a shame as it had a fantastic reputation, when motor vehicles were simple & functioned as designed. So when it came time to travel Australia pulling a camper, it was bye, bye Landy and hello either Pajero or Prado. Pajero took the biscuits and I've had 2 since. If they still made them, I think I'd go that route again.
@chrro4665 ай бұрын
@@BelloBudo007 yep Oz outback. There’s no chance I’d even consider a LR that ventured too far from a garage and even then a garage that could actually get parts to fix it !! Land rovers are purely for looking like you have money ( even though most owners have them financed ) and for cruising the streets of Sydney and Melbourne. Pajero any day 🙌🏻

This or a Disco? Depends on whether you want something dependable that does what it's designed for , or something thats constantly being repaired at 'specialists'. The LR will break regularly, it ain't gonna be summat you can fix and it will probably bankrupt you .

That's a Pajero here down under. Did Mitsubishi pull out of the UK? They now do a 10 year warranty on their cars here ( which they'll need as they have Nissan running gear ) I used to like the little inclinometer thingy they had on the early ones

My friend in Gran Canaria has a very early SWB Pajero. It’s glorious. Apart from being a bit dusty it’s in wonderful condition and is the perfect vehicle for it’s environment. I very much like it. This one less so and it does have something of an unfortunate reputation, often being piloted by people who would have bought a G Wagen but they couldn’t afford one and they’re therefore driven like a G Wagen but with more bitterness, resentment and/or disappointment. When family Miller win Euromillions we shall have a 90s Land Cruiser Amazon or Nissan Patrol as our 4wd of choice. I do think this is a lovely colour though. The other day Mrs Miller went to Aldi and wanted a hand bringing back the goodies. On my way to assist her I walked through the little bus only lane at the end of the road. I was half way through when I thought it would be just my luck for a bus to come right now. As I was thinking this, a man shouted to me ‘Mind the bus’ and I turned round to see a bus right behind me. I leapt out of the way like a cat, surely saving myself from certain disapproval for holding up of the bus. I never heard it which surprised me as the shaky old relics that usually growl past us can be heard a good minute or so before they arrive or disappear. It was a new bus, a 72 reg double decker thing. Very impressed I was, just before shock set in and all the associated trauma. I’d like to take this opportunity to withdraw my previous praise for Aldi meat. Mrs Miller bought some lovely looking steaks and they were shockingly bad. Barely edible. Even the dog looked at me with a ‘What the hell is this? expression when we gave it to him.

Here in Australia these Mitsubishis are indeed being driven across deserts. Lots of Discos here too but they tend to be used as town cars by wealthier people. Land Rovers are great on paper but the poor reliability is a liability on long, remote trips. It is a real shame as I would love to own one otherwise. As it is I am going to get a Pajero (as the Shogun is called in Oz) because of their dependability and durability. They are also good value here secondhand compared to the kings of the outback - Landcruisers and Patrols.
