I went to Nordkapp and back. 9000 km trip in 2 weeks in August 2017. Zero issues. Very practical and comfy, weather protection was excellent! Highly recommend GTS300 for long distance trips.

Thanks, this is a great video. A good, clear review of the bike, a great view, a cool pre-trip 3D video and a language lesson all in one! It was good to see that you had no problem keeping up with traffic and your fellow riders at a regular riding speed. I am not in the market for a mid-sized scooter, but I think that bike is cool. If I had to have only one bike, and trade in my 150 Honda and 650 Suzuki, I would consider one of these.

staninjapan07 thanks for your comments, I really appreciate them. I agree with you, if I ever buy another scooter it would be a Tmax, or if I buy a bike I would shoot for a 600 cc. In my opinion a 600 cc offers a good balance between weight and power.

Thank you for your video. I think you have just made my mind up to get a Vespa 300. I was considering one but I didn't know how good it would be for a 300 mile journey in a day. I had hundreds of Vespas in the 1960s / 1970s and now I am getting a bit old for fast motorbikes I am getting nostalgic about the Vespas. I know the new ones are nothing like the old ones other than the shape and therefore the memories it would bring back when I open the garage door and see it there. And of course now you have made me want to visit Mexico, though I don't speak Spanish. I am in England.

Nice video. I find it strange that if a bike can't do 90 mph uphill, then people think it is not capable of long trips. I have ridden smaller scooters on long trips. A long journey does not need to be on a 70 mph interstate highway. Looks like a great road.

Nice video showing the capabilities of the 300cc Vespas. I bought a used GTV 300 with only 750 miles on it last year. I live in Arroyo Grande, CA, USA and my nephew (a scooter guy), who lives in Indiana, wants me to come visit. I was going to put the Vespa on my small aluminum trailer and tow it, but he wants me to ride it back there--approximately 1,900 miles. Please post more--!En Engles, por favor!

Thankyou for sharing this with us, I always enjoy seeing other riders parts of the world. And your piece of it looks great. It’s already been said but it is well put together and informative. I’m on my second gts 300ie super so I already have a good idea of how it performs and what its capabilities are. Due to physical disabilities the scooter actually allows me to travel further than on a traditional motorcycle. I’ve just let my BMW r1100rt go to get the Vespa. Best wishes 🛵🛵🛵

Thankyou for the like. What I said is from the heart. I only went back to the bikes for speed, but you know what? The Vespa GTS 300 is SO much more enjoyable to ride. I’ve never ever, since 1976 bought the same vehicle twice. That my friends speaks volumes to them who know me. I ain’t saying there ain’t faster, better value machines out there but nothing out there is this good. And not only do you feel good on it but you will look good too if that’s your aim xxxxxxxx

It is people like you the world over is exactly why I love this Italian made Simple Human transportation machine. Twist and go, no bothers, no worries. Simple hand brakes. Great fuel range. Yet, expensive. As I weigh 255lbs I believe I would be too heavy for this scooters stock suspension. Other issues I have are tailbone pain developing well into any ride over 30 to 40 minutes, my jeep JK is a prime example. The other being, I have not been allowed to test ride a Vespa when they were offered here in my hometown at the time. I appreciated seeing the historical Statue, a tribute to those long before us, those whom tolled for gold/silver. I recently returned from a Yukon Territory tour where the very first gold rush began. It was and still is very humbling to think about the thousands of horses killed just in one section (high mountain) passage alone. 4000. Do riders in Mexico worry over the same inattentive drivers with cell phones as in the United States and Europe? Great Fun! Cheers!

+Gary Bowen thanks for your comments. I appreciate you sharing your experience in the Yukon Territory, and I share the same feelings with you about the small towns I get a chance to visit. There is so much history and traditions behind them and this is the purpose of this videos, to try to showcase this little known places to everyone. Unfortunately inattentive drivers exist everywhere. You have to be very careful all the time.

@JoseAntonioCordova
@JoseAntonioCordova 7 жыл бұрын
Hey Paul, thanks for your comments, I really appreciate them. I think the seat is comfortable for these type of rides, and also the sitting position. In my opinion at higher speeds the suspension could use a little help. What I have seen other channels (Vespa motorsport) recommend is to replace the stock shocks with aftermarket shocks to improve ride comfort, maybe I will do it someday.

Παναγιώτης Βελαώρας you can definitely feel the benefit on the chest and shoulder. Reduced drag overall on windy conditions. And it’s short but the uncovered part is basically the helmet so in my opinión it works pretty well.

Great film dude. I have covered many miles on a Vespa GTS and would disagree with the bikers. The GTS touring is comfortable, can carry sufficient luggage for short breaks or longer if you wash your smalls out, its economical and more than enough power unless you are on a German Autobahn. Cruising at 70 MPH (112 kph) is more than enough for me. One thing I would advise though is if you live where the weather can be bad like me then ditch the fly scene and get the Vespa mid screen. So much better in rain. I have had ego massaging alpha male big bikes and they are so much more impractical than a Vespa GTS. Check out the following kzbin.info/www/bejne/rHSpaoirjLyShcU

Hola. Confiables? Hay refacciones en México? Hay mejores por el mismo precio? Gracias. Me urge.

It is good, but not comfortable enough and not powerful enough for longer trips. super scoot though!

TheOrdersixtysix I agree. For faster highways or longer trips a larger engine and tires would help.

the old vespa gts 278ccm with the very weak 22hp is good for road trips, climbing up mountains, seriously?!?!? with what is it compared with? is this Level lower or higher? its definitely lower. at first i wondered if @jose is experienced with scooters and or motorbikes, but jose u obviously are. so is this Video sponsored by piaggio that u come to this conclusion? i mean its true, when u go only 50kmh, that 12" scooter does the Job, but fun riding a 2wheeler is defined definitely different. so i am sorry that i have to say: no, u dont inform correctly here with this Video. u compare with the Level above, not with lower Levels. the biggest Problem the gts has: till 80 on flat roads everything is okay, but then it gets chewy as the engine is too weak (the base is from 2002, the vespa gt 200) , the topspeed is dramatic low with only 130-135kmh, u have to consider also the typical italian tuned speedometer that cheats up to 15kmh, = to weak for Highways, too weak for Country roads to safely overtake otherrs that run 80-100kmh, no Chance. and the acceleration 0-100kmh in 14s (!?!?) for 5-6000,- euros? its made for a City. 0-80kmh is fine, its NOT made for road trips. of course u also get from A to B, sure, but fun driving Looks different. fact: the price for this weak scooter is horrible, its old technique, really low engine power, bad supsension, ohne one arm fork in the front and the optic... its already boring front is a flat licked Cosa that flopped end of 80ies and the ankeled costum rear where the engine opically falls out, that humgangous seat that Looks like a tongue...... its in general not really typical for vespa anymore unfortunately. than there is the always bad painting as they do it still by Hand so u easily get a rust Problem, then the injection pump and the fuel pump like to die etc etc. piaggio is known for very cheap production. in the year 2017, if u want to buy a vespa gts 278 sur its fine! BUT simpley be aware of that u get old technique for a price of a motorbike and: a) u get proper motorbikes for this amount of Money b) there are way better scooters available for less Money (ie Honda sh300i can do everything better) esp when u are used to good scooters and motorbikes a gts is really bad to drive outside the city, its NOT recommended. drive safe guys! :)

+mista FreakMoPed thanks for your comments. Let me try addressing some of them. 1. In this video I show my experience riding the Vespa on a two way narrow road and in which you really can't go faster than 80 km/h, it would be dangerous because of the blind turns. I had no problems riding my Vespa and keeping up with traffic. No need to overtake at 80-100 km/h, but the top speed is about 130 km/h which is above the speed limit. 2. I'm not sponsored by anyone but me. 3. I have no need to compare performance, this is not the intent of this video. 4. When you buy a Vespa you buy 70 years of history and tradition, you really don't care about the cost or if there are better options out there. 5. I agree with you that it's not made for high speed highways and I don't think I imply that at all in the video. 6. The Vespa is a two piece welded chassis which makes it extremely rigid it has traction control and ABS which makes it pretty safe, and after 5000 miles It is as good as new. Again, I'm only showing my experience with the Vespa, and so far so good.

ahu. that funny comment of that @fistful whatever is gone... i like dudes who show their character straight away, using the c word is a proper statement about your personal development state. so: i work for no one but myself, i simply allow myself to have an own opinion based on my experience and my technical knowhow, not influenced by the mainstream, in this case the typical: ooohhh such a beautiful scooter isnt it! its the BEST!! and this having an own opinion is a problem for some people... however. its not the best scooter, it is quite ok, u also come from a to b but definitely fact is: the price-performance ration ist really bad for a vespa gts 300, 150, 125 also sprint (horrible optic) etc.
