GM has really been nailing the designs and redesigns of their cars/suvs recently. It’s also great they redesigned their charge port door. That shaky port door on the lyriq was rough. I’m assuming this will probably be identical in size to the equinox ev.

This is exactly what I told my dealer I would want a couple of years ago. I sold my GMC Canyon and bought a new Tesla Model Y last year instead. It would be hard to trade in this great car , but because the Optic comes in orange, I might be ready to deal. I don't even want to know what other colours will be available. Joe, your reviews are more fun than anyone elses.

Cadillac has knocked it out of the park! The details and attention to craftsmanship is incredible. Making it fully loaded is a huge accomplishment. The lyric should be done simple just like the Optic. I hope it qualifies for the full $7500 tax credit. The Tesla competition just got a huge boost! Great job Cadillac! Hopefully GM has direct sales to avoid the price gouging from dealers!

While Cadillac is making a great, even affordable car in the Optiq, as a consumer I am more likely to consider buying a hybrid I wouldn't have to worry about charging. I often travel where there are no charging stations, and I treasure the freedom to go anywhere I please.

Sorry, all SUV's need a rear wiper. Just ask Ioniq 5 owners. Cloth trims might be subject to premature wear. Give me a real latch for the glovebox. Seats have nice features. Why don't mfgs. make white shades for the glass roofs to reflect heat? Take a radiation meter along for your test ride to see if the vehicle is putting out dangerous levels of RF from the wifi hotspot and SuperCruise. If it's like the Lyriq, you can't disable 5G.

This truly is a beautiful well thought out vehicle design. I can see where GM is taking a huge risk in betting the public will finally embrace electric vehicles. If they don't I wonder if GM will survive given their huge investment in converting all their vehicles to EV's. Toyota has already put the brakes on EV production thinking it is not the future of mass transportation.

Great review as usual, Joe. Certainly a beautiful vehicle but I feel the industry is sending mixed signals here. One minute, they are all in on EV's. The next minute, they are pulling back and going all in on hybrids while also increasing the price on ICE vehicles to underwrite the manufacturing of these very expensive EV's. Even if I was in the market for an EV, which I am not, I wouldn't buy one. Maybe lease one but certainly not buy one. Even then, I would be very suspect at what is currently going on in the industry and if the support is going to be there down the road, so to speak.
