Man...your intuition is excellent. I purchase a PX S-1000 approximately a year ago, and one key has already lost it's touch response...and another key sounds super noisy (as if it is about to break). The lights that control the parameters are not working. Only the function light is working. Geezzzz....I knew this choice might come back to bite me...and I still made it. Will be returning it for a D1.

Had mine for just over a year. I call it the 'unicorn' because it is a true pro stage piano for the price of a home quality unit. The key bed is pretty darn close to the feel of an acoustic piano. It get's the nuances of the sound right. I don't care if it lacks internal speaker......see as a feature not a bug. I run JBL 305's as my monitors. It's the king of keys in the near $1K price range IMHO. (and I tried all the rest)
@winterheat2 жыл бұрын
so many KZbinrs said Korg D1 is a really good keyboard, but then today I tried a Korg Kronos 2 in a local piano store (they don't have a D1), and the Kronos 2 has the same RH3 keybed as the Korg D1. I tried and the keys are really heavy, and then it felt like it had a "click" moment, so the key felt like a heavy mouse click... so that was pretty weird. The store had a Roland RD-88, and it is the same PHA-4 keyboard as the Roland FP-30X or FP-10, and the keyboard was quite good. I'd say it is better than Yamaha DGX670, and Yamaha DGX-670 is better than Yamaha P125 for some reason, even though they both have GHS (Grand Hammer Standard). I am suspecting the DGX-670 has an improved version of GHS. So... I suspect that the Korg Kronos 2 probably has a bad keyboard at the store? Maybe it was just abused for a couple of years in the store? I don't know. But since so many KZbinrs said they like the Korg D1, and one KZbinr even said he can play on it for hours and he won't feel tired, so I am still suspecting the Korg D1 has a good keyboard similar to the Roland RD-88 or FP-30X, or better. If you own a Korg D1, what do you think?

Korg should release a D2 with more sounds, pitch bend and modulation wheels, usb connectivety, the ability to split the keyboard and an internal power supply and I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

I purchased a D1 as my first digital stage piano and every time I put my fingers on those keys I think I would not change it with any other piano of its same range and not even higher, if not much higher. I am extremely satisfied. it has everything you need and very fulfilling sounds. it is solid and well assembled. sure, it is perhaps a little coarse in the lines, but you can't have everything, especially at this price. great! thanks for your advice, I listened to you and I am very happy!

I was set on getting a Casio Privia 3100, but then I looked into the D1, as someone that uses headphones at home / into logic and other VSTs, I'm sold on the D1 because of the keybed (also helps I think it looks absolutely gorgeous in white). I found the D1 for around $1000 AUD (roughly $650 USD) and the few extra costs of a MIDI to USB interface is absolutely worth it compared to the costs of things like the Privia. I recently had to return a Yamaha P225 because a lot of the black keys had ticking / clicking / plastic-on-plastic noises that totally threw me off playing, something Yamaha said was "normal for the keybed", so having a great keybed for this price. Cannot beat it!
@felixchen82953 жыл бұрын
Hi Jeremy, I bought a used D1 by your recommendation. Indeed a good one. But didn't you notice annoying keyboard plastic fiction noise at every key, that sounds like "chee-chee' when you press a key? To make sure, I went to piano shop to check RH3 keybed in Korg G1/C1 air. They produce the above mentioned noise but much smaller in volume. Do you think that can be fixed by dropping some lubricants on the D1 keybed?
@joaonuno439 Жыл бұрын
Hi. To fix that by applying only KRYTOX G2 PFPE PTFE will not solve the plastic knock issue. You need to remove the grease from the guides first with a product. Then apply a thin coating of silicon. Then let it dry. Remove the excess. Apply PFPE PTFE grease. Check that the keys are free to move. Only the white keys need to be fixed. Do this at Your own risk. They should have silicon on the guides from factory, similar to other brands! Good luck!

The Korg D1 has an excellent keybed but isn't for everyone, depending on your background with the instrument you may find the keys to be a little too hard. The P125 is also excellent, I've heard praise for the Roland but I personally find it uncomfortable. Can't speak on the Casio as I haven't played it personally. In terms of sound, again it's all preference. Best thing you can do is listen to demos or even better go to a music store and try them yourself.

Hey Jeremy, this is a very interesting review (love your list of stage piano requirements) so you get my thumbs up. Once again, you didn't give us the answer to the thumbnail question: Is the Korg D1 a bargain? Though I guess you did imply it with your stated preference over the competition. And you didn't talk about the main piano voice. My supplier mentions PCM sounds for this model. I guess this means it uses samples, but of what? How does the main piano sound compare to the competition at this pricepoint? It sounded quite nice in the video. I think it really is a bargain. It comes with a flagship action, a good pedal and a simple screen. Which main brand pianos have a screen at this price? The lack of a USB output and split voices is a shame. I think it's best function is as a backup stage piano for a gigging musician or a music venue. But it could be a good beginner instrument in a home studio, if you don't need USB. It bears a close resemblance to the Yamaha P80, which was another budget stage piano in a way. Now there is the RD88 too. So are manufacturers aware of a junior stage musician niche market, I wonder? I wish there were budget priced stage pianos with definable zones, as opposed to just a split point. The cheapest I know of is the Kurzweil SP6, unless you count certain MIDI controllers like the Studiologic 73/88 Studio. The RD88 (over 1000 dollars) has just 3 zones, which must mean that you get only one layer at the bottom end.

noooooo please this can't be true. I am in the market for a digital/stage piano for more than a year, read every review and watched so many demos, and this was the last on the list to check out, everything about the D1 is perfect - and it doen't have split zones? Before that my favorite was the Kawai ES110, but it has only one split point which can not be set freely, it's always at the same key. no go - out of the race. The P-125 has that, but is worse in other aspects, out - the Roland has only a good keybed and nothing more to offer... out - now I found the perfect piano for my needs and it has no split at all. Shame on you instrument industry, you ALL suck in one way or another. So now I will have to get the mixface from studiologic for another 200 euros to have 4 free splitzones, can as well get the M-Audio Hammer 88 midi controller, because no piano maker can deliver. This may not matter if you're a PC user. Just double check or you might find yourself in the basically the same position. Hi Jeremy, excellent review!..., please tell me in preference order for best key action, sound connection and complex sound engine between: Kawai ES110, Korg D1 and Roland FP30. Thanks!...
@VinceMenger4 жыл бұрын
Hi, the best keybed is no contest the Korg RH3 action between all of these, which is also found in the most expensive Korg pianos. I own a D1, and owned also a Yamaha p45 which has the exact same action as the P125. The GHS (Yamaha) key bed feels cheap compared to the RH3 (Korg). As for the sound engine, it is better on the D1 compared to the P45. As for the 4 listed in the video, P125 included (which has a better sound engine than the P45), in this price range they are all about equally good, as Jeremy said, their respective technologies being in the same quality spot. Personal preference is what will matter here, some would prefer the Kawai sound, some the Roland, some the D1. So, a matter of personal preference, rather than an objective winner here. The best bang for your buck, if you already plan to connect external speakers to your keyboard is the D1, for the amazing key action, and ease of use (interface). About the same price, it basically is an exchange between built-in speakers (ES110/FP-30) VS a more realistic keybed (D1). Hope this helped a bit :).

I have the es110 and I don't love it. The speakers sound muffled and although piano sounds are good. The issue is the speakers. They make it sound like a cheap keyboard. I'm thinking of returmimg it for d1
@couchcamperTM4 жыл бұрын
@@elsizzle2000 lol the D1 has no speakers at all, you need external audio. why not get that to use it with the 110? at least it has line out unlike the oh so professional Roland board...

Hi Jeremy, Not sure why you included the Casio Privia PX-S1000. On its release you raved about its quality, rating the graded action as best at anywhere near the price (if I remember correctly, and, of course, that was before the Korg you have in front of you). But my query is why you included it as a stage piano, which it definitely is not. It has built-in speakers, and the overall build is not suited to traveling ─ it's a piano designed to be a home piano a cut above the usual non-console home pianos and so naturally didn't rate so well in a stage piano comparison. Also I thought viewers would have got more immediate benefit if you had edited in clips from reviews of the other instruments rather than showing only the Korg (which does impress), this would have saved the need to chase around KZbin. Also, why the shots of instruments that were not pianos? Sorry Jeremy, I have a huge respect for you and your work, but this one gives the impression of being rushed a bit (rushed that is in terms of the needs of the subject) ─ are you trying to produce too many videos just now? [Intended to be constructive criticism.]

Hi Bryan, I put together these 4 pianos as they are all around $600 to show that pianos are featured differently for different use. D1 is designed for a gigging pianist and the rest are for home use. This video also gives the viewer knowledge to choose the correct instrument for their purpose. They are all good in their own right. PX-S is very good, and still is. But it has a couple of compromises in order to market to their target market. KZbin is run by 2 AI algorithm and that influences what a content creator has to do. I have studied it deeply. There are many things which someone who don't seriously produce KZbin videos will not comprehend. Thanks for your thoughts, Buddy.

Nonetheless Jeremy, it seems you've altered the title on the video, the original title probably the reason I approached the video from the wrong direction (and have you re-shot the opening or is my memory getting bad?). Jeremy, I have great admiration for your skills, your knowledge and your videos, but that doesn't make you infallible - you are human and no matter how much care you may lavish, there may be the occasional slight imperfection. [I also try to be accurate - as a Uni prof - but I have the same human limitations.] I'm saying this as I sensed a faint undertone of annoyance in your reply, and I want to apologise if I triggering that.

Hello Bryan. Wow! You noticed the title change. As data analytics come in from KZbin with regard to Click-Through-Rate, Average View Duration, viewer impressions etc I have to tweak either title or thumbnail in order that a video doesn't get buried forever by KZbin. I am sorry if I sounded direct. As my channel is almost nearing 30,000 subs, I get hundreds of comments across all my videos everyday, and I need to be succinct if I were to have the time to reply everyone and that may come across as being annoyed. Thank you for understanding, buddy.

I think the Casio model in matter the Privia px s1000 is an hibrid piano, both home or stage. If Iam not wrog, it does have conectors to amp and the sound and keybed is awesome, so is the touch. It is meant to be in gigs so, correct me if Iam wrong but for the price, the slick desgin, keybed and sound... for the usd 599.00 even me, a Yamaha, roland Kurz player, surprise me! Good comments and as usual, good video. txs both for sharing.

Can anyone that has this keyboard tell me how to octave shift? I know how to transpose (from reading the manual) but information about octave shifting can't be found anywhere! Thanks
@iandotson17083 жыл бұрын
I don’t think octave shifting is possible or all that relevant to full size 88 key pianos, it’s more of a function on midi controller keyboards especially those with less keys and limited playable octaves, but with this one you’ll have all 7+ Octaves, only missing out on a few high or low midi notes maybe

Hiya Jeremy, quick question. How do you think this compares to the Korg SP-280? I noticed the interface is almost identical and was wondering if it would have a similar Keybed and sound, It looks like they even used the same LCD screen! Keep up the great work!

Hi Jeremy! Your videos are very helpful. I am looking for a nice portable home piano in the under $500 range. There are so many choices! Your videos help identify the most important features which helps to eliminate some models as well as make others more attractive. I have bad osteoarthritis in my fingers so there is a debate between the two musicians who are helping me regarding whether I'll be able to use fully weighted keys. One friend is going to bring over an old 61 key piano to see what I need to do. My own current too picks are the KorgB2n and the Roland GO:PIANO88. Any advice you can provide will be appreciated. I am a beginner and almost 66 years old and want the piano for enjoyment as well as therapy for both mental and physical health. Fingers have to keep moving or they lock up! It is ok if you don't have time to respond as I'm sure you are very busy. Greetings to you from Florida!

Hey Shirley, I always have a few minutes for a fellow musician. Both the B2N & the Roland Go: Piano 88 are great for your scenario. The B2N has better speakers but is less compact than the Roland Go: Piano 88. But with headphones, the Go:Piano88 sounds good.
